I learned 2 lie.... to my worldly friends... about what I got for xmas about what I was doing on Tuesday & Thursday nights to my parents about how many hours I put in service about how I couldn't go to certain houses....as the kids were mean about what really happened when the witness kids got together but, most of all, I NEVER LIED TO MYSELF. I knew I was unhappy as a witness, and would get out once I got older. Skeeter

John Doe: I'm not being nasty. I'm just telling the way it is. Those who are now serving time in jail or went bankrupt (like Mulan's friends above) would have loved to have information from a "nasty" person like me beforehand.
Also.....the IRS pays informants 10% of the booty! So, you better watch out who knows that you're not paying taxes. They can get rich if they snitch!

Also.....
Do you want to own your home and need a mortgage? What about a business loan to start a business?
You'll need to give the loan officer a copy of your last filed income tax return! Why do lenders ask for this? The reason is that the lender needs assurance that you have filed your income tax returns. Why? The IRS can put a lien on your home if you owe taxes. The IRS's lien is a "higher priority" then the lenders (i.e. the IRS gets paid before the bank). When people do not file tax returns, banks do not want to lend them significant amounts of money as the loan becomes very risky.
Even if you don't need a mortgage now....what about in 10 years? 15 years? 20 years? At some point, you'll want a bank to give you alot of money. It will be much harder & scarier to file a tax return if you haven't filed in many years. How scared will you be then?

Yes, you DO have to pay US income taxes.
It is in your best interest to pay the taxes and to file a return. Once the return is filed, the IRS is limited in how long it has to audit yuou. An unfiled year is always open to audit.
There are some who wrongly think that the US income tax is unconstitutional as the States did not pass it correctly (wrong signatures, etc). Whether or not this is true, US courts have consistently ruled that the tax is constitutional. People who do not pay taxes or do not file returns can be put in jail AND owe the tax anyway. The IRS can put a lien on your house, car, bank accounts, garnish your wages, etc. The IRS is the worst creditor you could ever have. They do not have to abide by the same terms as VISA/MC and other creditors. Plus, when you owe many back years...you probably have lost the original documents needed for deductions. Without the proper documentation, the IRS will deny you the deduction. In short, it is better to pay your income taxes. Plus, if you need to get a passport or other gov't services (social security)....you may be out of luck.
You can get an accountant to help you file those past 3 years. You will have a clean mind and be able to sleep at night.
If you don't like the war, then punish the President and Congressmen and Senators. The IRS is just the collection box for the people VOTED into office. By not paying your taxes, you hurt the troops & the rest of us who pay our fair share.

Attending meetings while on Holidays
by Nosferatu inso how many of you actually attended meetings when you went away on holidays?
remember, you shouldn't take a holiday from jehovah!.
when me and my mother went to visit my uncle in 1987, we attended every stinkin' meeting, including a congregation baseball game.

My father & sister recently visited. Sister went to Memorial, but no other meeting. Father said each day..."I'll think I'll go to Field Service/Meeting tomorrow." I offered to drive him to/from the KH. Each day, he changed his mind. Seems he needed a vacation.

If I handed in a paper like that ... I'd fail!
by Frequent_Fader_Miles insomething always bugged me about the society's publications.
they'd always use phrases like "many persons do this" or "one expert says", or "many believe".
the person being referred to or quoted is always veiled in obscurity.

The Society's writers do half quotes and misquotes ALL the time.
See "Jehovah's Witnesses, Blood Transfusions, and the Tort of Misrepresentation". (link to at through ajwrb.org). It tears apart the "How Can Blood Save Your Life?" booklet. The Society's quotes are shown to be bad, and the quoted material does not stand for what the Society says it does.
I've also heard that the "Creation" Book was full of misquotes.
I've also heard that the last magazine (Asleep! or WT) article on college education had 4 misquotes. The secular writers were all FOR college, but the Society misquoted them. I think I saw the critique somewhere on JWD.
Not only would the Society not pass college, they should be SUED.
