My spouse's friend (a neighbor) probably has NPD. She ossilates into having NPD and being normal. The more alcohol, the more NPD comes out. They are self-absorbed people who want "the best" to clothe their body. Designer everything, and only designer. Chain smoker and can be a heavy drinker, too. Seems nervous, until she is talking about her latest shopping trips or times she went out partying. She glorifies clubbing. Anything my spouse does or buys, is "nice, but not to her taste." So, my spouse has called her outfits, "costumes." I prefer my spouse's clothes. The best way to deal with these people is to call them out on it. Directly asked her if she needed her designer clothes to make her happy. Directly asked her if her clubbing friends' children were so 'messed up' becuase the parents were not focused 'at all' on their children.

A child that DIDN'T want to die ... a blood experience you won't read in Awake! or on JW.ORG
by wannabefree inwhile doing work for a client in her office recently, we got into a light discussion about religion.
she knew i was one of jehovahs witnesses as our business relationship started while i was still a loyal and believing jw.
anyway, i said something that she knew didnt quite fit and she said ... i thought you were one of jehovahs witnesses ... i shared my story ... she felt comfortable to confide in me a story as to why, even though she has had dealings with jehovahs witnesses who she thinks are good people, she would never even consider listening to them about their religion.. i asked her if she would write it down for me so that i could share ... she agreed.. this is her experience.. .

Most states do not allow a minor the right to deny life saving medical treatment. When it's an "advanced minor", I remember that there are only about 5 states that allow advanced minors the right to "independently" (I say that loosely) die by not accepting medical treatment. The reason for judges to rule this way is obvious. A minor has been coccooooooned by his parent's religion. He has had no opportunity to seek out alternatives to his belief system. Therefore, his belief system is not developed, no matter how hard the WTS would argue it is.

Mother Forces 5 Year-Old Son To . . .
by Zandor incan anyone here, lay person or professional describe or give insights into the effects the following has on a child?.
when my friend, the middle child of 3 siblings, was five years old, his mother took him by the hand and led him to the house where his father was having an affair with another woman.
she opened the door to confront her husband who was actually in the act of having sex with the other woman, and deliberately exposed her young son to this drama.. .

A JW mom in my family did a similar thing.
The JW relative was getting a secular divorce, but needed proof that her JW soon-to-be-ex husband was cheating for a scriptual divorce. So, the JW relative and her female JW friend staged a date between the husband and a third, Non-JW Friend. The non-JW friend invited the JW husband back to her apartment. The JW relative and her JW friend sat in the laundry room, adjacent to the apartment. They couldn't get on top of the washer/dryers to be near the grate that led to the next door apartment, so they had the the 4 or 5 year old daughter "listen in" to the conversation/happenings in the apartment from the laundry room.
I don't think the little girl "got it" as to what was going on at the time or how sick it was all. But, now, I'm sure she does.
Just sick.

There is so much other stuff that they could have been doing, on that beatiful day it looke like! To sit around a table for that many hours, must be some good gossip for those sisters! That truly is a waste, not witnessing AND not doing anything fun either. What a waste.

Well, if a good majority of the fervent JWs are baby boomers, plus or minus a few years, then the WTS better reach its target audience with "good" news of Armegheddon being close at hand.
I remember the publications in the 1980s, same lingo. But, then it was all tied to the "Generation that would never die (i.e. 1914's generation)". It was never the "Generation plus 1, that would never die."

To each person has a right to his own spiritual journey. Slimboy's journey is not one that I expect to make, but I wish (if he doesn't mind that word) him the best on his pathway.

I think it's important to teach her to be wary and wise. This is something she will take with her throughout her life. My teenage child's friend befrended a boy, supposedly 2 years older then her. Same story as yours. Boys that are two years older, do not want a girl two years younger. There's a first tip-off.
At the same time, i would parent her, but parent her reaonably. First, I would limit her computer & phone time to less then an hour a day. How much time does she have on it now? She needs to be out doing a sport, hobby, reading, and homework. Take away her computer and phone at bedtime. Nothing good happens after bedtime. And, I would put a keystroke recorder on her computer. That way, you know her sites and passwords. Becuase faster than you can ban a site, they will create a new name and/or go to a new site.
And, yes, call the police. Stealing teenaged girls is big business. They are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. There is major child slave trafficking here in the US. If she were to get into some middle-eastern countries, there is a huge sex slave trade there. The mafia and gangs are getting into this. She needs to understand why she can NEVER post her real address or a picture of herself or her house.
