Divorce courts want the parents to get along and not divide the children. The mother's actions in this case were very divisive. She's basically demonizing the father's choices to allow the children to participate in organized events. I wonder if the JW literature on organized sports and bands were brought out to this court. It doesn't matter if they played at a Baptist church or in a county league, the mother being a JW wouldn't have permitted it. Competition, fear of playing holiday or national music, is banned for Jehovah's Witnesses. While the mother has a choice to not participate in these activities herself, can she thwart the father's choice to allow his children to do these activities? Becuase both being in a band and playing soccer are wholesome activities, the judge rightly sided with the father. Good Job New ZEaland. I would love to send these kids a small Christmas gift.

I didn't ask for a movie shot from the soldiers, I was asking about that particular event you were describing. I know there are Christian terrorists, as I explained. Was there a link to a Christian group, symbol, message that the criminal used before, during, or as justification for his offenses that you mentioned?
I can't see your Battle Hymn video, but I think it was likely from a WWII movie. I remember my history, that was U.S. against Nazi Fascists. Nazi's used an ancient symbol, the swastica. They used it so terribly, they changed the world's view of it. It's a dirty symbol that signifies the killing of millions of Jewish people. Nazi's were terrorists who were searching for an Arian ideal and world domination. If a person killed anyone today, using a Nazi flag or swastica symbol, we'd say they are Fascist Terrorists, even though the Nazis and Hitler don't exist. It doesn't matter if it's a lone wolf, it's the motivation.
Yes, Christians and Europeans have been terrorists. You don't like it? If you don't, get your rear to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and go live in a goat loving country where the goats walk wierd and the women are black & blue. You don't have to be sillly sheep with us. And, don't let the door hit you in the butt if you decide to go.

It's "Jah In A Box." Drive in a Worldly Person destined to die in Armegheddon, and come out a Jehovah's Witness with no hobbies, no advanced education, no retirement, no savings, no self-worth or self-identity, have children who are raped by pedophiles, be forced into a quicky marraige, be beat up by your elder husband, told not to invovle the police authorities with the crimes you are exposed to, forced to cool/end your relationships your non-JW family & friends, and lose your JW friends/family by shunning if you ever decide to leave the Borg. Yep, as unhealthy as any fast food restaurant can be! Clogs your heart too. Should be a Surgeon's Warning on this place.
JWs are tired of going door-to-door. Let them sit in their box instead. It's "Jah in a Box."
Those old pictures are just wonderful. I am reminded that at the time of the picutres, owning a car & a record player was a spanky new thing. Even as impressive as driving a car while blaring a message out of a radio box was . . . . it didn't garner support from the masses. Why? Becuase the masses knew the JWs were a wack-a-doodle religion. Today, having a smart phone is the spankiest new thing. The JWs are trying to look spanky again, with their cool box and promotionals. I don't think it will garner support from the masses. Instead of wack-a-doodle, the masses are going to use their Internet on the smart phones to quickly figure out that JW.Org is the website for a cult that hides pedophiles. (sorry for all the 'spanky' words being used here today. I read the spanx thread).

There are Christians who terrorize abortion clinics and gun down abortion doctors. They may be lone wolves, but they are doing it under the "flag" of Christian beliefs. Likewise, this Sydney man flew an Islamic terrorist flag. He didn't fly Dunkin Donuts' flag, or Hitler's flag. So, if he flies an Islamic terrorist flag while holding up a cafe, I'd say he's an Islamic terrorist (singular). The fact that he's likely a a nutjob adds to the fact. There are nutjob Christians, nutjob Jehovah's Witnesses, nutjob Democrats, nutjob Republicans, nutjob squirrels...... The most "sane" people don't always join the sweetest religions. The crazier and more strict the religion, the more people in need are attracted to it. And, some of those with the biggest needs are the nutjobs.
Fulltime Student - Did the person do this crime while holding up a Christian symbol, a bible, Jesus Loves Me, writing a Christian manefesto, screaming Armeghedoon & Hell Fire, etc? I hoenstely don't know, so I ask. If he did this while holding up these symbols or shouting Christian fear-type mongering, then he should be labelled a Christian Terrorist.
"About one year ago, only about 100 metres from here, and outside the Parliament building in Macquarie Street, a lone Christian, started a similar action. He claimed to have filled his car with enough explosive to destroy the building, and he threatened that he would do just that, if the government did not reverse a failed legal action he had been involved in. Much as I dislike Christianity, (nearly as much as I dislike Islam) I do not think that what this mentally disturbed 'Christain' did would justify a headline of "Christian Terrorism."

And, he gets his 50 virgins in Heaven . . . . inspiring more Islamic terrorists wack-a-doodles.
I knew nothing/very little about Islam on September 10, 2001. Only, that Cat Stevens joined it and you couldn't make fun of Allah, not even in a cartoon. I wish I was still as nieve about it and that all of these things didn't occur.
I understand why President Obama does drone attacks that killed innocent people, and why the CIA did its interrogation methods on caught terrorists. I don't mind either. And, I would be the victim in either of these if it saved any of you.

I think the Governing Body wants to be jailed for not following court orders to give an out-of-court deposition. The JW brass are going to try to state that as religious leaders in another state, they had nothing to do with the crime that occurred. But, this is a false belief becuase these are civil cases. And, in civil cases, discovery can be pretty broad and wide. The trial court judge has discretion to discern who is and who is not within discovery of evidence's reach. Further, as the head men to this organization with a history of sexual abuse, I would see that asking the religious leader(s) about the policies and procedures they set down would be of value to both sides. Thus, I believe this is why the court judges have been ordering Losch to give out-of-court depositions in preparation of trial.
Or, I think the Governing Body does not want to testify becuase they are invovled in setting this policy. Anything the Governing Body says in a civil court deposition, can be held against them as a prior statement in a criminal proceeding. Yes, the Governing Body (and all elders, ms) can be held criminally liable for the sexual abuse under an accessory-to-the-crime/aiding and abetting type theory if they can be linked.
Or, I think the Governing Body really thinks that the End is near. They are either going to die or let Jehober kill the worldly judicial systems and attorneys who persecute the WTS. Naaaaaaahhhhh, can't be right. Why? The WTS is building new buildings that are going to last 100+ years.

Did you AWAKEN from the JWs by yourself?
by cultBgone ini was thinking about how so many posters here on jwn are frustrated and frantic to help their loved ones get away from the brainwashing of jws, and how much advice is given about how to help family members and loved ones.
i considered my own leaving and that it was internal turmoil based on the teachings getting weirder and child abuse issues, to name just a few, and it made me wonder:.
did you self-awaken or were you assisted by the gentle proddings of a friend or family member?

Just quit quietly - the law is on your side!
by Ajax infreedon of religion guarantees any individual the legal right to abandon any religion at any time for any reason.. if you are a citizen of a country which champions human rights, then your government doesn t care what religion you join, but they will uphold your freedom to join it, without interference, coercion or persecution.
your countries human rights legislation will conversely uphold your rights when it comes time to abandon any religion you so choose.
those (elders) who incite others interfere, coerce or persecute those who have left will be in transgression of the human rights statutes.. a person is only obligated to ecclesiastic law if he exposes himself to it or transgressed it while still a member of a religious community.. when your time comes to abandon the jw-wt cult, do it while still in good standing, be proactive - be decisive -put it in writing!..and do it before the hounders set sights on you.. write a card or letter with as much or as little explanation as you one day might wish to share with pharisees and lawyers.. take this card to a notary public to have your signature witnessed and have the writing overstamped in several places with the date.

In the US, the ability to stand in court depends on what state you live in AND what actions the cult takes against you.
In Bear v. Mennonite, Pennslyvania courts found that immediate family can't disown. Thus, the WTS doesn't allow parents to abandoned underaged children.
In Wollersheim v. Church of Scientology, California courts found that the church can't financially break an ex-member. There, the church told ex-members to not pay their invoices to Mr. Wollersheim. The church also sent Mr. Wollersheim a revised bill, undoing his discount for their bio-feedback machine sessions (called auditing).
That being said, JWs have carefully done their disfellowshipping. They don't announce the reason (to avoid a libel lawsuit) and contend that the individual members have a right to not associate with whoever they want to, and don't advocate married people and/or children be required to be ousted from the house. Rather, it's all "individual choice." WTS Legal, baby.

The socialogical/psychological definition of a cult is whether or not it follows many aspeccts of the BITE model of mind control. To that, I would say that Mormons are a cult. Ex-Mormons will attest to it, and make up a large portion of self-help cult exit groups like Internaional Cultic Studies Association.

Why does a perfect God, who has the mental ability to create the universe and everything in it, need for us to live in fear of him, kill our first born child, etc? What type of perfect God is this?
And, thank you CrazyGuy. You saved me some typing.
