  Anyone leave the JW's and Still Follow Some of the Beliefs?

  many of you have seen my posts in the last week or two, but for those who haven't, here's my story in brief: i've been studying with the jw's for a couple of years, but just had too many doubts to commit.

  those doubts were solidified when i discovered this site.

  now i've decided not to commit.. however, i still believe in some of the things that the jw's believe.

  Not now but it plagued me for about 11 years.
  
  I couldn't do christmas, birthdays and most importantly sex. When I did have sex for the first time (at 30)I felt sick to the stomach and a sinner and that was 11 years after I had left. My girlfriend kept telling me you have done nothing wrong but it didn't help.
  I missed out a good 15 years of parties and sex. Anyways I'm up for almost anything nowadays.
  
  I've always been against smoking but I liked the look of those cigars so I started smoking them but only on special occasions especially my birthday, Christmas and New Year.
  I don't recommend cigarettes as they have some awful additives added to the tabacco for flavour and hooking people.
  
  The only consolation to me is that having abstained from sex it may have saved me from AIDS which was rampant in the mid to late 80s when I would have been at my most active.

  This actress is the epitome of female beauty and I'd never even heard of her. Monroe isn't even close to this level.
  
  But I saw pictures of her on imdb.com and from 1969 and 1973 she loses it. For some reason women can't maintain young looking skin like men can.
  
  Anyway I digress.
  
  Who cares what Jackson gets up?

  I'm not sure if read this in their literature or whether it was heresay. But I do seem to remember it being illustrated in the early 80s
  
  Anyway a JW was being chased down by a gang, he ended up in a dead end with a high fence separating him from safety. As the gang neared he closed his eyes and prayed. When he opened his eyes he found himself on the other side of the fence where he managed to make his getaway.

  "No, I am saying that you need to be more clear as to what "apostates are not under draconian laws" means. "
  
  Means that the JWs are actually relieved that they don't have to kill anyone even apostates rather than, We (JWs) aren't allowed to do it any more but would indulge it if we could.

  The above means as soon as my/your environment changes your gonna get it.
  I imagine you are equating this with their expected attitude in their own run country.

  Means my inherent love won't allow me to beat you.
  
  I can see what you are saying and you make a good case. I'm still not sure if I agree, however I do remember an elder saying to me with a little bit of a smug face "you know that one day at armaggedon we'll be coming here knocking on these same doors telling them they are going to die." I said why. He said "cos they've got to know where they are gonna get it from."
  
  Thinking about my above experience I could very well agree with you.
  
  Incidentally my dad practised both the above methods 1 & 2!!!

  then you are saying that these pacifist that don't believe in war and violence would pick up a stone and kill us, even after Christ's example with the prostitute?
  
  That's stretching it a bit but it will be their own country so things do change under knew circumstances.

  CHILD SACRIFICE.

  child sacrifice was never god's idea, the prophet jeremiah quoted the almighty as saying.

  he never commanded it, nor did it even enter his mind for worshipers to do such a horrible thing.

  yet the ugly practice arose among professedly religious people in the old testament times.

  I think only a sick minded person like Moses would think of such a scenario. Mose had three thousands of people put to death for worshipping a calf but spared his brother who made it.
  
  Moses killed these people to appease his God Jehovah. Does that sound familiar?

  may the quote "The law of the land and God's law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates" maybe they are answering the question of why apostates are not under draconian laws, rather than your interpretation of "we'd like to kill them if only we could legally get our hands on them."

  All interesting replies,
  
  the gist of which is that they will basically run it much like the Israelites did there totalitarian state.
  
  I shows that they are an archaic Law based religion and really too anachronistic for true christianity.

  i have been a jw all my life, my sister and i are now in our late twenties and are so unhappy and after desparate attempts to keep up meeting attendance are not spiritually motivated.

  we in last few weeks have found some very disturbing things in our search such as the un involvement.

  after research on these things and use of the wt library the society speaks for it's self on these issues calling the un the "disgusting thing" that the book of daniel spoke about(wt 85' para.
