  Apostate means to put distance between you and that which you believed. Because those that have remained faithful to their religion will say it deridingly it also means those other things you said ..
  
  "it's someone 'speaking aginst the truth' or'someone trying to lead others away from the truth'"
  
  because this is the meaning they personally want to apply to you. What they really should be saying is heretic.

  The Privilege of Handling the Microphones

  one of the most unbelievable privileges that a brother could have was being a microphone handler.

  elders would discuss brothers for hours and see whether or not we would allow them to mow the lawn or handle a mike.

  i always felt that these brothers were doing us a favor but if they didn't get a minimum of 10 hours in per month, they were dog crap and couldn't have any privileges.

  I remember in my day the mid teens did the mics. It had nothing to do with the hours one put in to door knocking. The only criteria were zits. I was never interested and I was never interested in answering their questions either.

  The problem with that argument is you haven't seen evolution either.
  When you show me a single celled organism evolve into a complex multicellular millipede then I'll believe. Oh what's that, you can't show me because it happens over millions of years. Oh well, I'll just take it on faith. Oops we can't do that it's not science it's religion.
  It's all creationism to you. So is evolution. It created the most complex things from a bucket of sea water. Did you know that chemists know that you can't make sustainable sophisticated polymer reactions in sea water? Too much water - sends the reaction scurrying the other way.

  daniel 11:40, talking about the end times and other end time prophecies, do you still believe in them and do you think anyone really can understand them?

  if you have an open ended prophecy then probability alone will ensure that it occurs at some point.

  Of Frozen Dead (if it's frozen, it must be dead) Cats

  today i had the dreadful task of picking up a frozen dead kitty from the end of our driveway.

  lest anyone think that this was our kitty (of which we have had one long ago and is now living in that great kitty litter box in the sky), twas not.

  it looked quite well fed and its yellow tabby fur was in good condition.

  Keeping cats indoors, de-clawing them de-furring them that just not mice I mean nice. Cats need to roam they have like all carnivores have a living/hunting territory so let them exercise their instincts.

  i was reading on the web about gays and jw's.

  first of all i am gay.

  i am not saying i am sorry as i don't feel there is anything bad about it.

  I was brought up with a JW mindset on sexual morals from about 9 years of age. The guy that did bible study with me was a super friend mentor of mine. I really needed someone like that around at that sad point in my life. Eventually he left the org. then about a year later we met up as he wanted to tell me something. I still remember the moment and the scene in the freezing cold car. He asked me not to freak out at what I'm about to hear and just think. So he told me he was gay and felt that way from the young age of seven and couldn't live the lie anymore. He had no other life other than JW life.
  Well my stomach started to churn and I thought I was going to vomit in my own car. The poor guy kept asking me if I was OK. I couldn't believe my best friend whom I'd look up to was this abomination. As I regained my composure everything started to make sense.
  Because I was still in with the JWs he asked me if I would still be his friend which he dearly wanted but that I didn't have to answer him right now in the car. So I said OK I'll call him in a couple of days to give him my answer. I think I already knew my answer.

  I am new to the forum!! Help!

  i have come to this website/forum looking for friendship and guidance along with a bit of support.

  i hope here i can learn more about jehovah.

  my family is soo against it, and i hope i can gain more knowledge here, for i am thirsty for it.

  maybe i'm tired but........at the risk of seeming overly critical,there have been a number of posts on this forum where the spelling and punctuation have been abysmal.i have no problem with the occasional error but the subjects here tend to be somewhat more complicated and it makes it too much of an effort if i have to keep re-reading things to figure out what the missing word was or where the sentence ends.one academic said it was no big deal as even his professors were poor spellers!well i've got news for you guys, if you don't sharpen up your grammer i'm not even going to try to give you the courtesy of figuring out what you're talking about.

  now,i'm going to have shower and go to bed and i want this thing sorted out by tomorrow.love pete.
