Does the Rainbow Covenant Disprove the Flood?
by Severus inthe story goes that god provided the rainbow as a symbol of his promise to never again destroy the world by flood.. noah and his family saw the rainbow after they left the ark.
after the waters had receeded.
after it had stopped raining for months.... yet a rainbow is simply sunlight spread out into its spectrum of colors and diverted to the eye of the observer by water droplets.

If there was no precipitation before the biblical flood of 5000 years ago +/- a few hundred years, then why are scientists finding continental ice sheets whose core samples go back 10s of thousands of years? Assuming they are accurate.
It means that there was precipitation pre flood years which means again the Jewish version of events is nothing more than myths written as facts in order to hoodwink the israelites. -

by Spectrum ini was talking to a female aquaintance the other day and in one breath she was telling me that it's great when she goes out salsa dancing because apart from enjoying the music she never has to buy her own drink as there is a constant stream of guys buying for her and then in another breath she was complaining that they annoy her because they are just after a bit of arse.
now i've seen the way this girl dresses on a normal day i can't imagine what she puts on when she goes out.
btw she does have great booty.

She's is only 16 and is bent on getting baptised. I know for a fact she is doing it for show, to show that she is a mature sister. Believe me, there isn't an ounce of spirituality in her. I've met teens that have a genuine respect and interest in their God and she doesn't fit this mode. She is far more interested in her looks, materialism, showing clevage, effing when angry etc. Basically a normal teenager.
Any ideas on how to prevent this? -

i said to her, "jws think that they are the only christians that study the bible and behave like they have a monopoly on its understanding.
she replied, "they are the only ones with a bible in their house, the only ones that bother to actually read the bible.

Tell me one Catholic or Orthodox that you know that knows the front cover of the bible from the back. All they know is the odd prayer and when to buy Baileys Irish Cream for christmas."
The problem is I couldn't think of any non-JW that has an understanding of the bible as a christian ought to. To a degree she was right. So I kept quiet. JWs know this of other christians and so feel they are justified to make claims of superior understanding of the bible. What they fail to realise is the only difference between themselves and other denominations is JWs are better at spewing out what their leaders tell them.

Convention Report - Deliverance At Hand?
by daniel-p inso i just got back from the convention - yes, feel pity on me... i had to attend all three days, spend money on a crappy hotel, sleep in a crappy town, sit on my ass for 8 hours a day, and all just to hear about the same old crap you can read in any watchtower.
i didn't take notes because not only would my head have exploded from the sheer boredom and stupidity, but i would be responsible for all your heads exploding as well.
are there any highlights?
