"Why Won't God Heal Amputees?"
by scout575 in"according to believers, god is answering millions of their prayers every day.
prayer seems to be especially powerful in the medical arena - god eliminates cancers, kills viruses, reverses the efffects of poisons, heals internal organs, repairs injuries etc.".
the above quote is taken from an ex-christian website.

That's it!
Living, not waiting
. My aunt died recently at age 87. She was a witness since she was about 19 yrs. old. She clung to the hope of the "new world" all her life. She bought into the "millions now living will never die" lie and lived every day like Armageddon was going to start tomorrow. She got excited about the hype for every summer convention for 60 yrs. She discouraged her three sons from finishing high school because it was a waste of time. She and my uncle never bought a real house, they lived in trailers all their life. They went "where the need is great" several times, always to some complete armpit place. They were so proud that they had pioneered with Ted Jaracz back in the '40s. When my cousin met (like having an audience with the pope) Jaracz a few years ago and mentioned his folks Jaracz kind of said "oh....yeah...John and Mary Smith....yeah... I think I remember them"...My aunt and uncle lived on that story for the last years of their life.
Anytime ANYBODY asks you to invest your entire life in something that doesn't pay off until after your dead...RUN the other way!

When I was free from religion, superstition, and theism, I was able to accept my mortality without a problem.
Gary took the words right out of my mouth. (Hope you washed them before you used them).
I find that it enhances my appreciation of life. I think that some people spend there life waiting to reach their destination and don't even bother to look out the window of the train. Very sad.

Anger!!!!
by FlyingHighNow inyesterday, when i was driving through holland, michigan, i was a little lost looking for the human resources office.
i was heading down a busy divided four lane street unfamiliar, when i looked up and there it was, a kingdom hall in all it's radiant three day quick-build glory.
and for the first time, rather than just the usual cringe, i felt angry!.

As others have pointed out, controlled anger can be a source of energy and strength. Uncontrolled, it causes depression. You can learn out how to use it in a positive way. Keep a smile on your face even if it's only on the inside.
When I see a KH, I look at it as a clubhouse where the mentally ill get together to feed their dilusions and childish hopes with the "spiritual food" fed to them by the WTS. They need a fix several times a week.
A mentally ill person is also known as someone whose cornbread is not cooked all the way through. They are crippled.

hungary workers get shock at bottom of rum barrel.
budapest (reuters) - hungarian builders who drank their way to the bottom of a huge barrel of rum while renovating a house got a nasty surprise when a pickled corpse tumbled out of the empty barrel, a police magazine website reported.. according to online magazine www.zsaru.hu, workers in szeged in the south of hungary tried to move the barrel after they had drained it, only to find it was surprisingly heavy and were shocked when the body of a naked man fell out.. the website said that the body of the man had been shipped back from jamaica 20 years ago by his wife in the barrel of rum in order to avoid the cost and paperwork of an official return.. according to the website, workers said the rum in the 300-liter barrel had a "special taste" so they even decanted a few bottles of the liquor to take home.. .

Surprised no one spat it out for tasting like shyte!
Makes the worm in a bottle of mescal sound absolutely deelicious.
They probably all went to a pub, had a stiff drink and a couple of pickled pigs feet.

I was once a true Prophet
by Gregor ina lot said here about fading, which is a good way for some to leave the cult under their particular circumstances.
my departure involved a 'fade' period of less than two years, pretty fast considering i went from being a locally prominent elder to being df'd for apostasy within that time period.
because my 'fall' was pretty swift and prominent, i was approached during the 'fade' ('79-'81) in one-on-one encounters by a handful of friends, mostly elders, who sincerely wanted to help me recover from my 'spiritual sickness' as they saw it.

Because my 'fall' was pretty swift and prominent, I was approached during the 'fade' ('79-'81) in one-on-one encounters by a handful of friends, mostly elders, who sincerely wanted to help me recover from my 'spiritual sickness' as they saw it. Because they were sincere in their own way and I was sincere in my way, I had an opportunity to make some very direct, heartfelt comments that had boiled up out of my deeply emotional/intellectual transition. A statement that I made on several of these occasions turned out to be prophetic. Here's an example of one of those encounters that took place within a few days of them calling me to talk the JC:
It was a Saturday afternoon and I was working in my front yard, a car pulled up and it was my old pal, David. He got out and chatted a bit with a couple of my (5) kids who were playing ball in the street. I greeted him as he walked up to me. He seemed to have tears in his eyes and I knew he was very nervous. I tried to put him at ease, I offered him a beer and we chatted briefly about this and that. Then he got down to the point of his visit "we miss you at the meetings, you know it's the truth, the time is short, you want your kids to live in the new order...etc" I responded in kind, that is, with deep sincerety and conviction. I'll never forget putting my hand on his shoulder and saying the following- "David, mark my words. The organization has painted themselves into a corner with "generation of 1914" doctrine. Sometime before 1999 (I came up with that based on the Societies current statements that a person of 'that generation' would have to be around 12 yrs old in 1914) they will come up with "new light" to get themselves more time."
Many years later in the mid '90s, after my family and I were long gone and had about a dozen Christmas trees under our belt, a friend sent me a copy of the WT wherein they double-talked their way out of the 1914 corner I had referred to those many years before. I have often wondered if any of those brothers to whom I had made that statement had thought about it on the Sunday afternoon when it was being studied in the KH.

"Mene mene teckel and pharsin" jw has weighed us in the balance and found us wanting. The end must be near, no more chances, the judgement time has come.
You sound like a very dissapointed JW jw. But you should "Lift your head up and get an erection" because I heard there was a big earthquake in the south Pacific today and the bird flu is on its way and millions are starving in Africa and so on...

Do Satan and Jesus exist?
by Amazing1914 insince some seem perfectly at ease to depersonalize the holy spirit, and claim that any mention of the holy spirit as talking, or as "he, him, or his" are mere personifications, then this rule can be applied anywhere.. satan is not a real person.
the bible only makes him sound like one because the bible writers all use personification whenever they talk about satan.
why, because according to the arguments of some, wisdom is personified in proverbs, or the mountains cry out, or the trees laugh, that satan is not a person either.. but, but, but ... what about when jesus was tempted by satan in the wilderness?

Jim,
Interesting that you are involved with BRCI. You probably know Ron Frye. He is a great guy and smarter than I could ever hope to be. What a writer! He did a newsletter for years that was absolutely brilliant. We got aquainted back in the early 80's when BRCI was formed out of a meeting in Gasden, Alabama I attended. Ray Franz was there too. I'll never forget it.
Respond to my reply on the other thread if you get a chance, I really think you misunderstood my original point.
