I would say this site and others like it were very successful if they get even 10% of the JW hits that nekkid pitcher sites get from them.
"Quit touching the Unclean Thing" (yeah, but I washed it!)
go on have a blast.
the jw discussion forum is on the same web page (google among others) as the societies official site.
i once remember an elder telling me about some ex witness who wrote some bad stuff on the internet.

if it's true that the society is starting a special campaign against "false religion", we may have them at our mercy!!!!!!!!!.
think about it: if they are stupid enough to print some cheap tract that shows churches and 'stars of david' as 'false religion', we may.
be able to cause enormous trouble by sending these to all public agencies dealing with intolerance and prejudice.. more than that, by posing as witnesses, these tracts may be sent to various people and groups with accompanying letters.
Out of appreciation for metatron, who really is one of the best posters here, I want to modify and clarify my last post. When the WTS publishes something as inflammatory as the tract referred to by meta. I agree it would be smart to bring this to the attention of the general public by whatever means we can use. This should definitely include using the media. My only disagreement is in sending accompanying outrageous letters impersonating a real JW.
Several years ago a young JW ("annointed"at that) man with a wife and two kids flipped out and in one night firebombed 3(?) local churches in the small town of Modesto, Calif. No serious damage was done but of course it was big frontpage news locally and regionally. After the second day of news coverage with no mention of his JW background I gathered up a couple of Watchtowers with illustrations of burning, collapsing churches and went to the local newspaper and talked to the reporter covering the story. I layed out the story of where this young man might have gotten his inspiration, including the special status he claimed as an "annointed one" in the church. The reporter was very interested and thank me for the info. The upshot was that not a single word was ever published in the paper about this connection.
Bottom line, in my experience, the mainstream media is very cautious about negative storys about established religions.

Someone suggested that the WTS might be trying to provoke persecution as a tactic, as Rutherford did in years past. I think those days are long gone. The WTS has been trending away from political, medical and legal confrontations more and more. These are obviously pragmatic moves to protect the assets of this huge cash cow. They are becoming, ever so smoothly, a mainstream, vanilla religion. They can't move too fast because of people like us and our ability to focus our energy through the internet. I am a believer in the wearing down effect our constant exposure of their shams. I think commando style, covert dirty tricks can do our cause more harm than good. Just my opinion.
my father was and elder and i remember him coming home from elder's meetings telling my mother all.
we lived in a small house so all could hear through the heating vents what was happening at the kh.
i learned more than i ever cared to know about at a young age.
During the 5 years I served on judicial committees no one was more surprised at a disfellowshipping anouncement than my wife. My notes never left my briefcase, which she never touched.
That being said, confidentiality was and is a big problem with JW elders. It all boils down to a telling shortcoming in that organization - lack of genuine love for so-called brothers and sisters.

Ah, the old 'elder goes home and tells wifey all the tidbits' problem. I was aware of several cases. We elders spoke to one fellow elder in particular when details of a particularly juicy committee matter were talked about by his wife to another member of the cong. who in turn came to us because she didn't think it was right.
He denied it up and down. I knew he was lying but we had to drop it and hope he had learned his lesson.
i'm obsessed with new cars.
i'd trade a $50,000 car for a brand new $40,000 one the year after, and trade it again for a $30,000 brand new one the year later, and trade it again for a $20,000 one year after that.
as long as i get a new one every year or so, i love the feeling, even if it's less equipped.
Gumster, I wasn't picking on Greeny, he knows that. He's one of my faves on this whole MF'n site.
i was visiting some friends from out of state that had moved there from my hometown.
when one of the friends that was from their cong.
( pioneer ) said they wanted to get their time started before are 4 hour trip to a national park walked into a supermarket to hand out a tract.
The whole time reporting thing is a dead give away for what JWs are all about...
when I was in the third grade they brought in a nurse with a big plastic set of teeth and gave us a dental hygiene lecture. At the end they gave us each a new toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste along with a 30 day calendar. We were to mark off each time we brushed every day, the ideal being after each meal (3 times a day.) One evening my mother noticed I was in the bathroom a long time and asked me what I was doing. I had not brushed my teeth all day and so I had brushed them three times in a row, brush, rinse and spit, brush, rinse and spit, etc. so I could check off the little boxes on the calendar.

has any read this book or seen the movie?
jws - The man made effects you refer to are miniscule to the point of insignificance in the overall, long term weather patterns of the planet. They have almost zero effect. One volcanic eruption spews more CO2 and carbon emissions into the atmosphere in a few days than several decades of man made pollution, which is primarily LOCAL in nature. I respectfully suggest you read Crichtons book.

I highly recommend you read Michael Crightons book, "State of Fear". Especially those of you who are 'intrigued' by Gores book or movie. The book is entertaining as a thriller with a fictional plot line, but the facts presented (and documented) are authentic and educational.
Is the planet going through another warming trend? Possibly.
Is it caused by man? NO
Is pollution by man bad? OF COURSE
Is there anything man can do to change the planets weather? NO
when i studied, i believed it all.
you know, not only the new system stuff but all the things relating to how bad 'wordly education' is, elders deserve our unequivocal support, apostates are evil, etc etc.
it must have been about 2 years into my love afair with the org that i began to have serious misgivings about the conduct of elders.
Thinking outside the Box? To put it into an actual time frame it was probably a matter of a few HOURS. It may have taken several months to digest and process, but once I allowed myself to step back and begin to question the WTS teaching I had been saturated in my entire life it was inevitable for me to rebel against it.
I think there are many who have that "outside the Box" moment but it scares the hell out of them and they mentally retreat from it. Some never allow themselves to get near the edges again. The WTS helps by keeping up a drumbeat warning against this kind of independent thinking. The internet is making it more difficult.
