  NEED ADVICE ON FAKING A REINSTATEMENT

  a friend of mine who is df'd is seriously considering trying to get reinstated in order to have his family back in his life.

  this is not an easy decision because he's fully aware that this isn't "the truth", but the pain of being excluded from normal family relations is really tearing him.

  he has two choices: either move away from his family and try and start a new life, or bite the bullet, try and get reinstated and then do the fade.

  Well, maybe, but I would give them the benefit of the doubt at this point. There is a solution I haven't heard here yet.

  Rather than write to the elders ones intentions to be reinstated, which puts then on notice to start "taking attendance" on you, why not simply start attending a meeting semi regularly? Why? Because this gives the family the leeway they have in associating with a family member. If they really wanted to they could push the envelope a long way without being spoken to by elders. My mother and father were finally approached after basically ignoring my DF'ing. They basically said that as their son they had good reason to be associating with me and my family and that our association wasn't breaking the "spiritual good time" rule. Hope he's quit smoking for all reasons.

  If the family doesn't want to exploit this big loophole out of intimidation by the elders, then maybe they are 'shit'. Chicken shit.

  this is especially true in the culture of many countries in south america as well as the more rural areas of the us.

  When an adult has shown a past interest, like child porn, and has used predatory methods like finding work in child care, coaching, etc. that puts them in contact with children and then they actually act on this and molest a child, THAT IS IT! No more chances! I don't think this would be all that difficult if we could get the bleeding hearts out of the picture. But there's the rub. We have no societal consensus on any matter of crime and punishment. We are all over the map with this subject and most other serious crime. It took 12 years to execute Ted Bundy. If there was ever a type of crime that cries out for harsh justice, this is it.

  it's been out a while and i know it's already been commented on here but i really enjoyed the village.

  the creation of fear and the control that it allows must surely strike a chord.. recently i saw christian bale in the machinist.

  You can't go wrong with "Little Miss Sunshine" Very funny.

  In the video stores - one that comes to mind is "Rabbit Proof Fence". Wish I had waited to see it on video, I hate to have tears in my eyes in a theater when the lights go up.

This is especially true in the culture of many countries in South America as well as the more rural areas of the US. This is not what I am concerned about. Nor am I too concerned about 16 yr old boys having sex with 27 year old teachers, etc. I'm not saying this is a good thing. Not at all. But it is a different category of so called "child sex offenders"

  When I talk about the problem of child sex offenders I am refering to adults or older teens who have shown a predatory disposition toward CHILDREN. A person who views kiddie porn for pleasure is to me is just one step from being a kiddie molester. Once they have graduated to actually molesting a child they are no longer salvageable. This is confirmed in thousands of cases. Yes, it would be nice to think that the powers that be can readjust these people through counseling programs, blah,blah. But the fact is, these people are ruined and cannot be trusted ever again to roam freely in society. Over and over we see those who have been given the benefit of the doubt go out and commit these acts again. We release convenience store robbers who go rob another convenience store when they're released. But our children are too precious to allow this. How they are contained is not important. The reason they MUST be neutralized is because, just as they were probably sexually abused as a child, the children they abuse are tomorrows child sex abusers. If they don't murder them. Either way the damage cannot be undone.

  Whether it is by:

  -Lifetime incarceration.

  -Chemical or surgical castration. (even the effectivness of this is arguable)

  -Execution

  Nothing less is acceptable.

  On secret recording. Been there and done that. I don't recommend it, too much of a distraction and at a dinner party you could easily run out of tape before anything important came up and then you might find it is unintelligible anyway. Save it for a committee meeting or get one of those things at Radio Shack to record phone conversations and draw them out on the phone.

  In your situation, I wouldn't miss it for the world. How often in your life will you get to set down to a poker game where the other players always have to make the first bet and you already knew what cards they're holding? I would go over a few basic rules of strategy with my partner. (My strategy is based on the assumption that you are not ready to be DF'd or to DA.)

  Here's how I would handle it:

  Your are guest in their home. They will greet you warmly. Whether you feel phony or not, return the warmth. Meet it measure for measure. Small talk will come up. Be ready to bring it up yourself if need be. Stay away from subjects like crime, world crises, etc. that are so easy for them to segue into their spiel. Keep it light. vacations, food, funny stories, home projects etc. I know this only prolongs the inevitable but at least you make them work for it. When you start getting the loaded questions or declaretive statements that call for your input I would be like smoke. "The District Assembly sure brought it home to just how close we are to the end, didn't it ", you say, "Boy, it sure did, these are the best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten!" You get the picture. Dodge ball. NOW, let's imagine you have out-danced them all evening and frustrated Brother Clever decides to lay his cards on the table with direct questions. You look them right in the eye and say "Did you have us over for this? Is this an investigation? If so, shouldn't we be having this conversation with another elder and not dear Sister Clever here? Thanks for a wondeful dinner, we've got to be going now"

  Today's the day!!!

  after 4 days of separation from trev while he's been working in belfast, he's back today, and i can barely wait!.

  he flies in at around 3:45, and i am going to drive to the airport in about an hour to pick him up, it's only 30 minutes drive so i 've got plenty of time.. with luck, i should have him back here by early evening, hopefully not too tired by his journey.. no more lonely nights, what bliss!!

  raised in the truth?

  i was just wondering what constitutes as being brought up in the truth.

  my mom was baptized when i was 7 and my dad got dunked when i was 11. right now i don't really consider myself as being fully raised in the truth because even though i've been going to meetings since i was 6 i just slept/doodled through them.

  my mom didn't study with us kids and my dad didn't start the family study until i was 12. i'm turning 20 in a few weeks... i've known life before the truth and it was much bettter, everyone was soo much happier.
