Get out your trusty NW Translation and read together 1 Peter 3: 1-15 . This makes it kind of hard for anyone to justify getting their panties in a bunch over a calm discussion of John 1:1 or any other scripture.

Well, my wife flipped out.
by rassillon ini hope i don't go too long with this.... last night my wife and i were talking about her day in service.
we talked about several things of little consequence and then i made mention of a point out of the reasoning book to underscore the importance of our need to be well versed in the facts that support our beliefs.
said point is on 416 of the rs book.

25 years or so ago the Society sent out a new batch of Sunday talk outlines. One of them, "The Godly View of Sex and Marriage" was assigned to me. I ended up delivering that talk about 20 times between my home cong. and others, it being, (I wonder why?) a real Hall packer. Surrounding congs. who's elders were too shy to give it themselves called me regularly. It got into everything from masturbation, oral/anal, and sex during the menstrual cycle (not to be confused with sex on a motorcycle). All of the above were touched on.
Anyway, enough nostalgia. The fact is that the real focus of all ancient religious laws concerning sex and marriage had simple, practical purpose. Have as many children as possible (infant mortality was high and expected life spans short) and men needed to stick around and feed and clothe their offspring, bastards usually starved to death.
The WTS simply came up with psuedo medical reasons to back up the old Brooklyn coots hang ups.

(posted before, but, I think it is appropriate)
My dear old uncle was rather eccentric when it came to being tight with a nickel. He had plenty of money because he never spent it. Never bought anything 'new' - cars, clothes, tools, you name it. He also liked to check out the dumpsters behind stores, like he would find moldy cheese still in the package. He would rinse it with vinegar and eat it, etc. Once he found a box of 8 1/2 X 11 heavy paper in bright florescent colors, green, yellow, pink and so forth. On one side various words like SALE! or CLEARANCE! or SUPER VALUE! were printed in big black letters at the top so the store could write in the price, etc. with a heavy marker. This paper had never been written on. A very much loved older sister died and he was asked by the family to give the memorial service. The Hall was packed. Because the reading glasses he got at the second hand store didn't work very well he had to hold his notes up. I felt like crawling under my chair when, you guessed it, he had written his notes on the back of his florescent paper with the above words facing the audience. IP: 7j62UPuHiaqpVYvT -

Wow. I don't know where to start. To just say DON'T DO IT to you sounds a little oversimplified, even though you couldn't go wrong to take this advice. It's your statement that you are "following what Jah wants you to do,..."(I'm paraphrasing) indicates that you may already have a mental foot in the organization, because I doubt very much if you have spoken to Him directly lately. You must clear up your own mind first. PLEASE read "Crises of Conscience". If you can't afford it or can't find it in the library, by all means let it be known that you would like to borrow a copy from someone here.
If you have ever signed a contract for a car purchase, a house, or even a set of encyclopedias, that is nothing when put up against a total life control contract which is what getting baptized into the JW's is. If you ever decide to change your mind leave you will see the ugly side of this organization. Like trying to gracefully walk away from a job with mafia, you will pay a heavy price.
Did you parents ever tell you what to do when a stranger offered you candy to get in their car? Run, sweetheart, we already here you screaming for help.

What's the most exotic vehicle you've ever spotted in a KH parking?

One elder with a wife and three kids owned a new, four door Cadillac Sedan DeVille with chrome wire wheels. He also owned a new, pumpkin orange, Corvette. When he was arriving to the meeting early or staying after they would bring both cars. It was a toss up which one irritated the other elders more!! This brings up an idea for another thread, that is the way imperfect humans in a smallish group can't help but feeing rivalry and envy. Clothing, hair styles, material possesions, etc etc.

Something thats really started to be irritating to me!
by mkr32208 inthis is something that's really started to be irritating to me here and on some other forums that i visit.
while i've seen it in the past it seems to be getting out of hand (see the 9/11 and global warming threads) people are arguing or discussing something and all of the sudden you start seeing massive cut and paste documents!
one person post a 1000 word essay (or more) by a claimed expert supporting their side then the other does the same.

When I scroll down and see several hundred words my eyes blur and I either skim it or don't read it at all. Sometimes I feel badly because I know some of these are original thoughts written out and a lot of research work went into them. I admire those who can get their point across in brief, pithy, remarks. This makes reading the thread seem more like a stimulating conversation instead of a lecture. In general, I try to keep my posts no longer than this one.

I appreciate your last post. Sounds like a plan. She is going to see if things can be salvaged with her mate. How about you? Is it beyond salvaging? Funny how "side pussy" can make things out with the present mate look impossible. But if indeed it's beyond repair, then do as has been suggested above, get a formal separation or divorce and start building yourself a new life that still includes the kids but you'll feel 100% better about the whole thing when you find someone else. I think I speak for all here when I say we wish all of you well, life throws us a lot of curveballs, it's good to hit one once in awhile.

That's the thing about a can of worms. When they all start wriggling out you don't know which one to deal with first. You find yourself overwhelmed. Here are a few worms that come to mind and remember, each one has its own sub-set of worms.
1. Two divorces and the accoutrements of divorce- division of property, alimony, child support, housing- in a word your finances will be totally F'd up for a long time. Financial and legal problems have a cold shower effect on passion and passion is what is supposed to fuel this expedition into adultery.
2. The kids. Who lives with who. Don't be surprised if one of yours and/or hers decides they hate you and/or her and act out. The innocent parties won't just disappear, there'll be visitation and a certain amount of interaction that you will find to be a regular reminder of your decision and its consequences.
3. Her being a JW could be one of the biggest, nastiest worms of all. It sounds like you a have a vague plan for her to go ahead and get DF'd and then be contrite and get reinstated?? Are you serious?
I can clearly see you a short time down this ugly piece of road, lying in bed staring at the ceiling and wishing with all your being that you had never unzipped your pants and got out the can opener.
