Juni, sounds like a plan. It's the simple things that give life the structure we need to cope with the inevitable stress. We also have two dogs who think that God meant for them to sleep with us. Wonder how they got so spoiled?

Me and wifey are taking care of our 12 yr old grandaughter this weekend. Her parents are in Reno for R&R. We haven't spent much time one on one with her in a while and we have noticed she has blossomed into a world class pouter. I try to ignore it but her Gma keeps trying to cajole her out of it which only makes it worse. She took her shopping for school clothes yesterday for 3 hours. She said about 20 words the whole time. Mostly grunts and shoulder shrugging. I popped in on the mini Apostafest and met some nice people, Brenda Cloutier and Kevin, Queen Bee and hub. Odrade and friends. I guess today we'll be jumping through hoops trying to keep the princess entertained! It's OK. We love her to pieces!

All Those Creepy Files
by choosing life inhave you ever thought of all those creepy files that the elders keep on wrongdoing?
how strange to have your sins written down and kept in a file somewhere.
do they ever dispose of them?

I kept 5 yrs worth of my personal, detailed JC notes in a large spiral notebook. The JC was very hit and miss with keeping official files. At one point in my reverse "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" transformation I burned that notebook page by page in my backyard BBQ one evening while I consumed a nice bottle of Cab and thought about all the sadness those notes contained.

What Is Your Life's Work?
by choosing life inwhat is it that you do in life that makes you feel like you are accomplishing something important?
something that makes sense to you and gives you a sense of personal satisfaction.
for me it has always been my work of helping others as a nurse.

Interesting question. I guess I would have to say it continues to be trying to grow in learning what life is all about and how I fit into it. To make forward progress as a person who I would want to associate with.
Having the meaning of life handed to you in a pre-programed script is not a good way to experience the first 35 or so years of your life. It's hard to describe the inner conflicts of having to avoid or discard your own inner thoughts and observations about the important things in life when they don't mesh with the almighty Watchtower Society. There are many people of advanced age in the WTS who have never learned anything about life on their own. They are truly Watchtower zombies.

Jehovah's Witness Associate Livings Editor Does Relief Work
by Kenneson innick patterson, who is associate livings editor (southern living), has a slideshow of the relief work he and other jehovah's witnesses did in mississippi in december.
they worked on restoring kingdom halls and replaced the roof of a mrs. timms.
he doesn't say whether she is a jehovah's witness or one of their bible studies, but i'm assuming she is.

It's nice to hear that JWs did something of a material nature to help others, whether it was just their 'brothers' or not. They have been notorious as an organization for ignoring practical material needs of others. Where is that Scripture about those who piously tell those in need to "go away clothed and well fed" but offer no practical help.?

Do you believe the Ark of the Covenant still exists (or ever existed)?
by gaiagirl inwhile thinking about more bible related legends depicted in films, a rather obvious one came to mind...the ark of the covenant.
do you think it still exists, hidden somewhere?
or do you think it was captured and destroyed following one of the defeats of israel?
-
Gregor
I believe there were Israelite artifacts of precious metals and gems, maybe even the ark. But I also believe the individual pieces were long ago broken down for their intrinsic value. If someone had put away an actual object it would have been worth hundreds of times more that its raw worth and would have been revealed by now.

By my count this is the third time out of a small number of topics started by Wanderer that have referred to the Watctower Society as the "Truth". Either he is having a private joke on us or he is very, very slow to realize how inane it is.
Which is it Wanderer?

Comair Crash shows extreme carelessness
by Gregor insince runways are identified by their compass headings (runway 22 is 220 degrees, runway 26 is 260 degrees, etc.
) one would think that a pilot at a small airport with only two runways, one being way too short for that particular aircraft, would simply look at his compass heading when he lined up for take-off.
even in daylight it is just about impossible to percieve the difference in runway length simply by eyeball.

Even in daylight it is just about impossible to percieve the difference in runway length simply by eyeball. Well, it happened. A real tragedy. Human error, not equipment, remains the primary cause of accidents.
