Can JW's have friends of the other sex?
by JH inwe all know that jw's don't make friends out of their religion, but in the jw religion, can members have close friendship with the other sex?.
my experience in the org.
makes me say no.. i remember one cold winter, i was waiting for a brother in his driveway, and my car was warm, and his wife was waiting for someone to pick her up in front of her home, and since i waiting in the entrance waiting for her jw husband to come out of the house so that we could leave in my car, so i told the sister, his wife, who was waiting in the cold, to sit in my warm car while her lift arrives, so she finally sat in my car, but when her husband came out of the house and saw her in my car with me alone, although she was seated in the back, he told her, why are you alone with him.. gee, they both knew me since years, and we were good friends.

The ages of man
As I turn 61 tomorrow, I want to be sure I am being labeled properly. I have never been quite clear on the chronology of the following catagories:
Old Fart
Geezer
Codger
Poot
Fossil
Can anyone help put these into a time line?

Ever know of a great family movie, the Witnesses found demons or evil in?
by free2beme ini remember growing up, the witness children were often ones that were left to see all those g rated movies from disney.
yet even those at time, while accepted by just about every religion out there, were considered demonic.
for example, the following movies were said to show witchcraft and in or congregation we were encouraged to discard them and not own copies of them; sleeping beauty, snow white, the little mermaid, bed knobs and broomsticks, and fantasia.

A similar personal experience. My wife, sister and I got tickets to a taping of the old Steve Allen Show in L.A. many years ago. We enjoyed it and were aware that we had been on camera a few times and looked forward to seeing the broadcast which was like a month later. As it turned out, on the day of the broadcast our Circuit overseer uncle and aunt were in town on a visit. As the hour approached we told them about the program. When the show started and the guest list was announced and my aunt (a very overbearing Mrs. CO) heard that the Amazing Kreskin (a mentalist type magician)was on it she went into full righteous indignation mode. "Why didn't you just leave?" "You know that's demonic don't you?" etc. We watched in strained silence until the Kreskin segment came on and then turned it off under the pressure of her disapproval. Never did see the show.

When I saw the original "Wicker Man" movie I decided there was no way I would ever get near one of those parties. I would get paranoid and figure I was "it" for the annual sacrifice. Better safe than sorry. Even though it would fun to see the little cutie with the sharp boobs!

Do you buy into conspiracy theories?
by free2beme ini guess since leaving the witnesses, i have become willing to listen to more things.
mainly because i learned in life, that if the religion you were raised to live and die for is wrong, and deceptive, then couldn't that be said of government and science?
so with this in mind, of the ones i am going to list below.

I think a lot of folks tend to be frustrated with world events being edited, videotaped and served up on platter. Especially XJWs have had a bellyfull of being spoon fed all the answers that they have since found out were nothing more than manipulations by a cynical authority figure that they have seen exposed as corrupt.
The "Black Helicopter" theories always have a receptive audience. It tends to make one feel a little more in control and in charge of their own intellect to disagree with the direction the "herd" is being led.
This doesn't mean they are necessarily wrong in any particular subject. But I do think it can become a knee jerk reaction to all events that draw worldwide focus. This can put one in the position of being gullible in accepting anything that disagrees with generally accepted explanations, especially if it enhances ones political viewpoint.
When it comes to governmental conspiracies that require a huge Machiavellian apparatus I tend to doubt it's veracity. The government is well known for it's inability to pull off a Sunday picnic without major screwups.

Fantasizing about sex during the meetings/assemblies.
by alienagent inperhaps this is a topic that has been mentioned in older threads, but i would love to hear some thoughts on the matter.. i remember as a youth sitting through the loooong assembly progams bored out of my skull as the monotone speaker was saying something about the angels having a lust for women, or something like that.
it was not uncommon for me to drift off into a nice sexual fantasy, usually a more romantic one that would start with gentle foreplay and end in satin sheets in a candlelit bedroom ... nice.
this seemed to be a habit for many years, particularly before i got married and only got worse after divorce (sometimes i think i'm having a second adolesence).

And boy did I ever think about what I was going to do with Mrs. Forscher ...
The fact that you chose the word "with" instead of "to" bodes well for your marriage.

Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown were great. The Kill Bills didn't do anything for me. Carradine is a lousy actor. Haven't seen QTs latest, I guess he was a producer for some gore fest movie. Has he directed anything since Bill2?

Here in the states we call them take-away meals. One chain, Boston Market, has been very successful with home style meals. When I was a road warrior I liked to get one and take it back to my hotel.
But for meals at home nobody can take away the pleasure I get from cooking a meal from scratch. I've been told I'm a good cook and I don't argue. My two sisters are better than me. We got it from our Mom who is world class.
