Sorry to hear that you have to deal with JW nastyness on top of your husbands crises. They fail whenever they are in a position to show love instead of judgement. You sound like a strong person. Get as much rest as you can. You have a lot of friends here who are pulling for you.

I think if you read my posts on this thread that you should see that instead of taking suicide lightly I take it more seriously than some of the sob sisters on here. Maybe there would be less of it if more people ridiculed it for the cruel, cowardly, self centered, ego trip of self murder that it is. Instead, it is encouraged by all the "poor baby" boo hoo that pours forth when someone gives up and quits. Life is a gift, if it means no more than that to someone that is their decision. Like many, the idea of it has crossed my mind when life seemed to be more pain that pleasure, but if one considers the pain and hurt it brings to others, it is the ultimate act of selfishness.

it was the birth of my son, who just turned 11 ... that brought me out.
It makes it very difficult when you yourself don't know what to believe. It would be simple for me to answer their questions if they were my kids, but they are yours. All I can say is think twice before you start selling them on the GOD, Santa Claus, toothfairy, etc. Instead of saying I don't know, why not say "well, there are two different schools of thought on wether there is a god or not. Let's look into it together."
PS. I hope you don't give too much weight to the emotional 'born agin' advice. These dear folks are long on emotional faith and short on common sense.

a few years ago i was in new orleans for a business trip and took some time to check out the area.

It thrives in cultures where people are uneducated and superstitous. It 'works' because people believe it works. It is simple and easy to understand in principle but involved and mysterious in ritual practice. Not too different than the JW's.

after a lenthy illness, 10 years in total, my mother, margaret stecko, passed away peacefully today surrounded by family.
she was 84, and leaves behind 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
she was a jw but never shunned me.
My sincere condolences. Your mother was obviously made of tough stuff, both in her body and her character. Her life, as you sketched it out for us, is an example for all who think of giving up when the going gets tough. Thanks for sharing with us.

Yes, I appreciate that suicide is a serious subject, especially on a site like this one. My only defense is that I feel a lot of despondent people simply need a change of perspective. Not that that is easy. But it really is the solution for many. Life is BIG, the world a living person is in is BIG, our individual worries and depression usually exist in a very narrow spectrum. I think it is important to TRY to stand back and get some perspective. How many of us can look back on times we had thoughts of suicide and now are enjoying life.
PS. I think getting joy out of life on some level is our responsibility if we are taking up oxygen.
