reminds me of my contact a few years ago when I tried phoning the big guy-

I've been trying for years, had the number programmed into all my phones and hit redial every chance I could. So yesterday I'm driving along, bored with the radio, when I decided to try another redial. This is a transcript of the actual call:

Could Watchtower Collapse Be Sooner Than You Think?

there have been a number of developments over the past few months and they paint an interesting picture.. witnesses can keep dragging themselves to meetings ad infinitum however, the future of the watchtower itself is another story.

the evidence of continuing cash flow problems is now overwhelming.

if you talk to well placed witnesses, most won't deny it but simply blame it on the publishers financial problems.. they have cut off loans to congregations many of whom genuinely need new kingdom halls.

It will go with a whimper, not a bang. Many of the above observations could be intrepeted that the whimper has begun.

When manufacturers see shrinking sales they bring out a new, better version.

Not so easy with a publishing company whose only product is a religion that claims to be the TRUTH. They have been trying tune it for years but it is such a narrow cult dogma it is difficult.

We Women Know How to Stretch a Dollar!

something burn linked to on the thread about gender equality got me to thinking.. the statement was made that it is mostly the woman who is in charge of the family budget, and she knows instinctively that you can't spend your way out of debt.. i know that, but this basic fact seems lost on some.. for example, i see my oldest daughter making financial blunder after financial blunder.. she has, in effect, told me to stay out of her business, yet it is i to whom she comes begging for help when her money goes south.. my maternal g'mother, who lived to the age of 104, had a favorite saying: "root, hog, or stay poor.

i've decided to let her stay poor or sink - whichever comes first.. syl.

Had my chicky livers tonight....sauteed with butter, onions and red wine. Thickened the sauce with a little flour and ladled it over rice. My tongue had an orgasm.

back in the early 80's right after i was married the main driving point i kept hearing at the meetings was "do more,,, pioneer ".. well being the young impressionable jw couple that we were, .

my wife is a speech therapist, so working pt was no problem, but i ended up working construction, cleaning carpets, and shoveling snow at all hours with the brothers, and i worked like a d*** fool at all hours.. funny how there was so much support for me to work with the witnesses, but once the decision was made work could be very iffy at times.. and the main thing that just causes me to cringe now is how so many of the witnesses in charge of the congregation thought that we did not need insurance, my wife had a policy with her school district, but my son and i did not.

granted medical expenses were not as bad then, but just the idea of thinking that we did not need it that god would watch over us just embarasses me to no end now.

Hell yes. As an elder on many JC inquisitions, a couple of them still haunt me.

How do you put a gag on feelings of fear when living outside the "truth"?

When the first Iraq war began (remember, when Saddam invaded Kuwait?) I knew a couple of faders who had been very outspoken (privately, of course!) in their rejection of the Watchtower scam. They melted like butter when the war started. They began going back to meetings, etc. Within a couple of months when the war situation stabilized, they picked up their fade where they had left off. Like someone trying to catch up on insurance premiums when they see the storm clouds gathering.

Some people, bless their little Kool Aid stained hearts, never seem to get the fear under control. They run for the barn at the first sound of thunder.

They are still in. Brainwise.

Sad. Must be a unique kind of limbo misery to live that way.

I never grab the front row item with out checking to see if there is a fresher dated package in the back. Yesterday I bought a little tub of chicken livers at Safeway. The top tubs were 5 days older than the tubs under them. I care about the freshness of perishables, I hate to throw out food that has gone off. Waste of money.

PS . Especially sliced bread. I will not eat bread that has mold. It goes out for the birds.

What Did You Expect to Do During the 1,000 Years?

for those who were jws, what did you expect to do during the 1,000 year reign?.

since only loyal jws would survive armageddon, it seemed to me that field service and tms would be eliminated.. so what did you expect to do with your time, besides getting rid of the dead bodies and petting lions?.
