  Guilt, Conscience and Catchphrases

  pleased to meet u all!

  i'm a newbie with a messed up head (thanks to all those wasted years).. my biggest problems are with guilt - i think its due to being raised as a jw.

  i feel guilty for almost everything - even when i know i haven't done anything wrong!

  From my own experiences and those of others I know time is the only remedy for guilt.

  It takes a long time to deprogram your brain from all you have been taught. It was six years

  after I left the borg before I started thinking on my own and let God back into my life.

  It was 1980 when I left (not voluntarily) but today it has been a blessing in disguise.

  If you have been out for five years it might be time to look into other faiths to fill the void, this will

  also help you to overcome the guilt. There are a lot of loving people out in the (world). I wish this

  site was around at the time I left. There is a lot of experience here that I appreciate 25 years later.

  To Qcmbr: I have to say you still have that witness mental attitude in which you believe

  every thing they tell you. I take issue with your comment about good family values.

  Families are supposed to have unconditional love for all members. I know if one of mine strayed

  I would not cut them off (neither would Jesus) but I would work with them and show brotherly

  love or parental love. Once they are shunned the door is closed to them. And I resent your

  remark about LDS as I know many of them and they would not think of shunning their

  family members. They also allow lifesaving blood transfusions, they will fight for their

  country if called upon, so clean up your own act before condemning others,

  i think that every one on this site goes way over the top calling jehovahs wittnesses names you spend more time trying to prove them wrong than you do prasing god.i mean is this your purpose in life.if you no more about the bible than the wittnesses then go straght a head and speak.but dont act like a spoiled brat calling people names.a lot of people on this site will belevae what they want to beleave because it suits there lifestyle lets get to the root of whats realy in your hearts

  What would it be like if I weren't brain washed for over 20 years?

  hello...this is my first posting.

  i heard about this web page from a friend that has a boyfriend that is trying to live life out of the clutches of jw's for the last 2 years.

  i have found that even though i haven't been involved with jw's for about 10 years, thier nails run deep.

  I would like to tell you of mine and others experiences who have left the J dubs. We all

  agree it takes about five years to completely get free from wt thinking. i spent forty

  years as a dub, have now been out for 25 years. This is a great site to help new ex jw's

  heal. So newbie stay close by.

  What were the reasons you would say it was "the truth"?

  just a question, because i'm trying to find out how to bring up good arguments to people still in the borg.... a) what were the reasons when you were (or are) still a jw that you would say that "you were in the truth"?.

  b) and what would you say now, that were the reasons that you thought it was the troof?.

  I was always a little depressed at Christmas as a J.W. ! always loved the music and could not understand why we could not listen to it as it honored our savior on his birthday. Still love

  the carols today and sing along with them.

  Why do churches still make me panic ?

  i'm really glad i've found this site a week ago.

  reading some of the stories and comments on here has really helped.

  there are so many out there who's lives have been ruined by the so-called truth.. i was brought up in the truth as an elders daughter, youngest of 5, a brother and sister had been disfellowshiped, other brother had left as a teenager and my other sister is still sitting on the fence aged 40 going on 15, if she'd made a decision instead of sitting on the fence i'm convinced she wouldn't be the alcoholic mess she is today!

  EX.J.W. df.d in 1980 For the next six years I had nothing to do with religion of any kind (took me that long to get rid of W.T. garbage). In 1988 my father died as a J.W. I attended the funeral at the

  funeral home. The C.O. conducted the service and he spoke mainly about the prodigal son directed

  at me. Those in attendance who were not dubs were disgusted. I have found anew church and am very happy there. Lots and lots of friends.Served in all positions as J.W. including P.O. was never

  happy.Lots of stories to tell at a later date. For now I want to wish every body a very Merry

  Christmas and a Happy New Year. Appreciate all your comments.
