It seems the more "facts" I question..the more opinions I discover.

Changes to the Shunning Practice ? We have just been spoken to !
by twinkletoes inwe went to lunch at our local cafe on saturday, and there were two families - still jws, also dining there, (in different parts of the cafe).
we expected the usual shunning treatment, but surprisingly they initiated the "hellos and how are you" and seemed genuinely pleased to see us (we have been out of the org for over 3 yrs now and we are always shunned whenever we see former jw friends) it was such a surprise to us and we couldn't help wondering if the governing body have issued "new light" on the treatment of disassociated ones.
especially as these two families have completely avoided us for a long time, even though we personally wrote to them to explain our reasons for leaving (un involvement etc+) .

All you gotta do is point out how it can adversly affect thier pockets and power...they are easilly convinced and manipulated by money and power. Shunned people contribut less to their KH's..it has been proven in a poll. LOL IMO
If all apostates were rich, giving people...they would no longer be "apostates" they would become "brothers". just like if satan repented..he would no longer be satan..he would probably become Christ.?

I can't wait for Jesus to come and reward them, for what they have earned. I hope he has mercy on them, even though They hope He has no mercy on us. I am no hypocrite...I am evil and would be just fine with mercy.

Apostasy defined in the Elders Manuel
by gumby infor those unfamiliar with the societys veiws on what apostasy is, this is from the elder manuel under.
..."elders ruling for justice itself".. apostasy.. apostasy is a standing away from, a falling away, defec-.
tion, rebellion, abandonment; it involves teaching false.

Yeah...and when they label anyone who questions them a "apostate", if nobody questions them and their opinion stated as a fact. It actually becomes "truth" until somebody stands up for them, and asks "why". Then they are punished for this love of truth, and shunned as well. I am sure Jesus approves of this behavior, and they will be highly rewarded when He arrives.
or did He say: "Don't judge..lest YOU be judged." Guess that was figurative speaking, or symbolic? I can't wait to find out for sure.

that IMO is pretty stupid.
If you have 6 people staring at the same box at different angles, there is different writings on each part, all see something different...yet all are "right"...and then perhaps we could learn about the entire box...rather than force 5 other people to see what you do..or be shunned. Can you imagine the tramua, and the brainwashing involved in MAKING 5 other people see something they really don't! Everyone suffers IMO

possibly...I don't see any rules against research or going undercover. only joining. Since they are humans and cannot see your heart or intentions, they would have to accept your "truth" wouldn't they?

Is there a God/supreme being/ or what?!
by DigitalFokus inok, so i was raised luthren, my dad was cathlioc and then i went dub for 5 years and since have been completely turned off religion.
the dub experience combined with world events and my personal ones have pretty much pushed all thoughts of a "almighty" out of my mind.
of course there are times that i think of religion or get into a "2am religion talk" and i wonder wtf is really going on.

I don't know DF. all I have is opinions, pretty much all anyone has for real.
If there is no God...we have a bleak future. That is a opinion I hold as true by looking around me.

History channel
by darth frosty ini was just watching the history channel and their talking about hell- the devils own.
when talking about the devils challenge to god over job.
one of the commentators makes the statment that 'not only was this a bold move on the devils part, but, also shows how he just wanted to do evil for evils sake, when you consider no one can challenge god and win.

I don't know...that is a very deep good question though!
unfortunantly...like alot of other good questions...all you can get from me and other humans is opinions. To ask us that...would be like asking us how hitler justified killing jews. it would be strictly hearsay.
I hope you can ask Him yourself, and I can listen in.
That is the only way that question can ever be answered.

Do you mean the elders are calling themselves apostates? Could you explain how you came up with that?

I see what you mean T.S....sort of. Are you saying that people lean toward any kind of authority, even a dictionary? But the dictionary could be wrong...So therefore answers don't really exist..just accepted opinions presented as answers and facts? Am I close?
What is a 'set'?
