Just returned from a week in Detroit. I seemed as if 60% of the homes were up for auction. It was without a doubt the most disturbing sight to see a city of that size reduce to almost nothing. Very sad.

by oompa inas i went out less and less and less.......i loved the look on the bro at the magazine counter when i said i need three fewer or whatever.....after i did this a few times he said "yeah...several others have had to do the same"......and then i noticed that not only did i bring a huge stack of "back issues" into the hall and place them on the counter when nobody was looking......but there was already a pile there......then i just started trashing them........ahhh.......those were they days...............

I just stoped picking mine up. Even if I went to meeting and the brothers would come up to me and remind me I would just say "oh yeah I forgot" then after a few months they cut my mags back and in time off.

I had a discussion with a JW sister today about miscarriage and the new WT
by BonaFide inso this morning was the public talk and wt study.
after, we did our usual and went to eat.
the group was mixed ages.

Another dimension to this, is that the Society is in effect just throwing a bone to those JW sisters who have been troubled by this matter for years. It reminds me of another teaching that the Society tried to expound upon regarding whether those who had lost wives or husbands in this system would be with them again in the new system. For years, it was "no, they'll be like angels, and whatever that means, blah blah blah." THe most recent word, however, is basically, "we don't know."

I believe they (WBTS) no longer use those terms. But the effects are the same. They make the same announcement "___________ is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" Then 7 million people are required to shun you.

Have you forgiven your parents for bringing you up in the JW cult?

i concluded my parents were victims of the watchtower society too.
dad was a prisoner of war, under nazis at 19 yrs of age, almost died there due to no medicines or antibiotics and lost almost half his weight, his nerves were shot and he was drawn to the jws promise of a new world without war.

Can't blame the parents either. Both sets of grandparents joined during WWII. So both of my parents and all my aunts and unkles were raised in it. That having been said I had to overcome some resentment.
Now I find myself happy to be out and wishing more of my family could experience the freedom I have.

Governing Body Talks @ Convention
by nbernat inwell the convention was extremely long and boring but i decided to take specific notes on brother morris's talks for discussion here on jwd (and i was also able to get a few extra copies of the creation dvd so if anyone wants one, pm me).. overall, the brother is not a great orator and sometimes awkwardly raises his voice.
i am aware that some of the friends were a little disappointed to say the least that we did not get a more "famous" gb brother at the first international convention, but he speaks for the gb, so same difference.. it felt like most of his talks were around a.
