Yeah early Woody (pre-Perv?) I liked a lot. Not sure if they were better or my humour was more juvenile. Favourites were Play it Again Sam and Bananas.

ok. so this farmer dies for 7 minutes and goes to heaven.
he returns with this information:.
president-elect obama will never take office.. bush will extend his term until "the problem" can be resolved.. violence will erupt within the usa due to "this problem".
And she said her 7 year old son heard from Jesus in church that He's coming very soon.
Surely "He" in this case could be Santa?

For crying out loud. But should these muppets still be given a chance? Still eight days to go. . . .

good morning friends:.
it's said that upon your becoming a jehovah's witness someone ought to lock you up for six months (maybe longer).
perhaps the same could be said for those of us who've learned the truth about the truth.
Hi there CoCo,
'I have many things to tell you, but you are not able to bear them at present.'
I like that! Wouldn't it be precious to debate their "truth" and ask them to look up that passage? A bible study in reverse.
I'm glad to say that the JWs in my family have mellowed appreciably. Indeed my brother-in-law even asked me what I was up to for Christmas the other day. One of my sisters even shared a field service anecdote, relaying how one elderly and grumpy old man had said that the resurrection would be the last thing he wanted, since it would mean he'd have his deceased wife to contend with all over again. She chuckled, whereas once upon a time this would've horrified her. It leaves me in no man's land: tempted to engage them but loathe to ruffle their feathers. I've no doubt that if they were the rabid pontificators they once were, far from keeping quiet I'd happily try and knock them off their Watchtower perch.
A not so uneasy truce prevails for now.

back in the 50's the society used to criticize the churches for their stained glass windows.
now they proudly point to their assembly hall in jersey hall with their chandeliers and stained glass windows.
i know there are a number of kingdom halls with stained glass too.. i think few congregations owned their kingdom halls in the 50's.
What in the world do the stained glass pictures in KH's show? People in tacky suits handing out worthless watchtowers?
This would make a brilliant KH stained glass window design imo. . .
interesting experience the other day.
my mother's in a residential home and one of her fellow residents is a dub with early stage dementia.. the carers at the home had the oldies all making christmas cards and decorations and the poor old dub lady was happily if haplessly involved.
well in walk her dub relatives.
Hi there Sylvia. Cheers!
Hi to everyone else also, especially to Mary, Purps, BluesBrother, rebel8, Carla Blondie, and Elsewhere.
Familiar (rather than old) faces.

Cheers for your input folks!
Being a cynical kind of guy I also wonder if less care is taken with the JW elderly, as they're pretty much a spent force in terms of their value to the Organisation. Unlike kids they don't have years of magazine flogging in front of them. It also had me wondering if some of the more tenacious old bible bashing Dubs, not afflicted by senility like to give a witness in their care homes and actually make a nuisance of themselves.
To eke out my last days in a home next to some old Dub pushing the Watchtower to me, would probably set me on the path of voluntary euthenasia.
have posted this on the other thread but just making this one as well:
i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.
he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.
Faundy I'm so sorry. Your Dad was a lovely bloke.

The carers at the home had the oldies all making Christmas cards and decorations and the poor old Dub lady was happily if haplessly involved. Obviously her Dub relatives had not made it clear to the home that the sister must not be included in such activities (?)
Well in walk her Dub relatives. Not only are they instantly surrounded by the trappings of the pagan festival, ie decorations and carols playing on a music system, but their nearest and dearest has been included.
What do they do? Nothing! They're so disarmed by the event, that whilst appearing very uncomfortable and red faced, they don't feel compelled to raise any objections and with forced smiles actually nod approvingly at the elderly sister's handy-work.
I found it odd because although great efforts are made to extract their children from the Xmas festivities at schools or worldly™ social events, I wondered if as much care is exercised on elderly Dubs as they enter worldly™ care homes or mental health institutions?
Anyone know if the Watchtower or Awake have any opinions about this?
