It would be cheaper and logistically easier. You'd be cutting the tree off at the roots instead of lopping it that way.

My experience of JWs generally is that they don't exactly plan their lives as though Armageddon was just around the corner. The ones in my family are buying properties for their children when they reach adulthood, saving for pension schemes and basically planning for the future. Thats what I call hedging your bets. Why would they want to win the lottery when they'll have so many riches in the new order?? Mamon strikes again!
i'm new to this board, only my second time posting, and i have been out of the organization officially since i disassociated about 3 years ago.
i have seen so many bad things in my time as a witness, my disfellowshipped oldest brother committed suicide, prior to that he was terribly shunned by my family, my other brother and sister didn't talk to him for probably 10 years.
two children in my family have been molested by the sons of jw elders in two u.s. states and in both cases the parents were told to not go to the police.

Even celebrating Christmas and Birthdays shows you've really let go. My neice left "the truth" years ago and has married a non JW and is very happy. But if there's a hint of her JW parents coming round to her house she'll quickly put all Xmas cards away and pull down any decorations. It reminds me of Bilko LOL. She obviously has a problem with standing up to her parents but her behaviour also shows in my opinion that she is embarrased about celebrating "pagan" events. Stick around and enjoy the company of ex JWs who are a hell of a lot more fun than the poor souls who are still being led by the Society.

If I won the lottery I'd like to share it with my family, but my sister who is a Jehovah's Witness would be the interesting bit. I'd like to tell her I'd like to give her a huge wad of cash but that I'm not sure if her religious convictions would allow her to receive the proceeds of gambling.

Problem is the WTS keeps shuffling over somthing that can be a matter of life and death and can leave children without parents and parents without children.
If they stuck to what it said in Acts and stood by that as meaning blood transfusions then maybe they would be taken more seriously. But what they think Acts 21:25 says is:
