The confusion lies in the fact that at one stage he was a model for a razor blade ad.

ONCE UPON A TIME....JESUS DIDN'T HAVE A BEARD. Watchtower silliness
by Terry inwhen i started going to the kingdom hall it was late 1950's and jesus christ did not have a beard in any of the society's illustrations.. when did this begin?
what article justified this?.
i'd like to see either a watchtower explanation of why jesus went beardless or any scan of an article that was apologia for the contrarian view.. suddenly, years later, the watchtower society agreed with christendom!

Bee Population
by onlycurious inhas anyone heard about the new scare about the decline in the bee population?.
i guess the bees are not returning to the queen bee and they are dying.
trying to figure out why this is happening but if it doesn't turn around, all of us will be 'starving' in 4 years.

Half a bee, philosophically,
Must, ipso facto, half not be.
But half the bee has got to be
Vis a vis, its entity. D'you see?
But can a bee be said to be
Or not to be an entire bee
When half the bee is not a bee
Due to some ancient injury? -

Nicotine Withdrawl - How long does it go on for?
by Clam inthe last couple of weeks haven't been too good.
my wife has given up smoking.
initially it was out of necessity as she had had her tonsils removed, but as she got used to doing without her cigarettes she felt as though she might as well give up altogether.

Well done AC Milan.
This past fortnight, as per usual it's been said that since Man U are an English team, everybody in the country should suddenly support them . No thanks You have to be consistent.

Great stuff Confession.
These dialogues are really getting me in the mood for the two Dubs who are supposedly return visiting me in the near future. I'm probably going for the topic in the recent Terry thread, ie that Jesus demonstrated how saving life was more important than the Law: specifically in Luke 6. This can be extrapolated to the blood doctrine I will argue. see http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/16/133029/1.ashx

Earthquakes (again!)
by dozy init still annoys me that the wts have never withdrawn their quote about the increased frequency of earthquakes (and this quote was used by several speakers in the recent special talk , unaware that the wts has changed its position on this) , so i emailed the national geophysical data center in colorado and the national earthquake information center in golden, colorado to get their comments.. my email & replies:.
dear sir / madam,.
the watchtower society of pennsylvania (the corporate arm of jehovah's witnesses) have for over twenty years been using the following quote to support their belief that earthquakes have increased since 1914 in fulfillment of bible prophecy.

Hehe great stuff Dozy. It's nothing but spin. There was an earthquake in the SE of England the other day, 4.5 on the Richter, where all of my JW family live. I've no doubt that they'll be very excited at yet one more sign of the end. If only they looked at the facts and not the BS fed to them by quasi religious spin doctors.
I would be happy to discuss this with a representative of the Watchtower Society should they wish to contact me.
Sincerely,
USGS/NEICAs if.

Quandry sorry to hear about how the drug affected your parent's lives. It amazes me how so many kids around here seem to be smoking. Young users taking over from the dying and dead ones. Terrible.
Rebel8 thanks for that. The ACS article is very interesting. Wellbutrin as recommnded by Brent along with Chantix look good routes to follow if the withdrawl is prolonged. She's having a big lifestyle change at the moment, now also giving up coffee and exercising a lot. I'm hoping that the tangible physical improvements which she's feeling in herself will offset her sporadic cravings. Here's hoping anyway. Thanks everyone for your feedback.

BFD Yep we call them fags, LOL, but we know not to call them that when in the US. they're also called straights, coffin nails and chokers.
Mouthy great advice. I'll stick with it. Maybe I'll get Jehovah to help out too.

Wow BFD, you see I didn't realise it could be that bad? How much do you smoke and what kind of ciggies? Mrs Clam used to roll her own. She didn't really smoke that much. Over the years I've had the odd cigarette with an alcoholic drink, but thankfully it's never really gripped me. I can take it or leave it, and other people smoking doesn't bother me one bit.
