i must sat i certainly applied the scripture on" critical times hard to deal with" towards the society and its members when i left.. acolytes.
The reason many people on this board do not fear the society any longer is because we now know what goes on behind the scenes. For instance the many double standards they employ. Knowledge is power and has enabled us to be able to speak back confidently to any witness we may talk to.
I totally agree with pp they are still a dangerous org, but now more and more people are realizing that, and they are now being exposed for what they really are.
the squeaky clean image of the jehovah's witnesses as of late is becoming tarnished.
the news media is reporting many stories connecting the jehovah's witnesses to horrific, terrible crimes, as well as other odd behavior in their religion.
the recent murder and cannibalism of a young baby in texas as reported by the media suggested that the mother, who was the alleged murderer, was a jehovah's witness.the breaking story of phillip and nancy garrido in antioch california and the evil act of kidnapping a young girl and keeping her a prisoner in their back yard as well as his raping and having two children by her is extreme evil.
I've got the whole day at home tomorrow so I will catch up with all the latest from sixscreens. It certainly appears that the two different Watchtower every month are showing up a lot if double standards in the org. It's really good that you keep pestering them. They will realize that if you know what is happening in the org then many others will know to. Keep up the good work.
i grew up as a dub, and i was taught that there weren't specific reasons why people got disfellowshipped.
i was taught they didn't announce what the wrong was as they were df'd because they were 'unrepentant'.
now i know the wts is full of **** and i see a few posts about tattoos and piercings etc being cause for df'ing.
I think it is generally true that providing you show you are truly repentant there is no way you would be dissfellowshipped. For the witnesses it is a last resort. They can't afford to lose anybody unless they are a danger and if they were then they would be dissfellowshipped. If you had a position in the cong you may well be stripped of it but at least you wouldn't be thrown out.

Hi greenie, it certainly can work but you both would have a lot of differences in your day to day life. If your fiance kept to all the Jw rules it will put a tremendous strain on your marriage. If your fiance is inactive why not find out why that is. There is so much imfo. now on the internet about what goes on behind the scenes in the WT that you may well be able to show your fiance the reason why so many are leaving. Just punch in Watchtower society or Jehovah's witnesses into the search engine and you will get a wealth of imfo. I wish you well.

I believe I must have a better attitude to people in general now, after all as a witness I was taught that most people or organisations were from the devil, therefor they were no good.
When I said to a witness recently about the gigantic amount of money that is given to charities these days, the reply was oh they just feel guilty.
In other words it just makes you feel better, it is not being given because you really wants to give.
Since leaving the witnesses I now have a much more optimistic point of view instead of the totally negative thoughts I had before.
In England we recently had a programme on TV called Casualty 1909 which dramatically showed what medicine and hospitals were like 100 years ago. It was a real eye opener to many I am sure as it showed the massive difference between then and now. The very fact that the population is increasing so fast is because now most children don't die early and people are living much longer through better health care. I have asked several witnesses why they think there has been such a population explosion. They hate it as they have to admit that things are so much better now as regards peoples' health and well being.
one aspect of the leaving jw process has long puzzled me why can a fading jw become mentally disinterested , miss loads of meetings , become irregular in the ministry , perhaps even become involved in minor worldly conduct without too much concern from relatives or the elders over a period of years , even decades.
yet as soon as they make it become known that they are not going to the meetings anymore, all hell breaks loose.
elders dust down their od books and come calling on shepherding visits , perhaps for the first time for many years.
Good thread Dozy, Even if you only attend a small number of meetings the witnesses will asume probably unconciously that you are still with them. If you stop meeting attendance completely, it is a pretty safe bet you no longer see it as important and you are therefor rejecting the faithful slave who spend most of their time telling you how going to meeyings as vital.( for regular indoctrination)

It's a shame the Watchtower society don't take their own advice.
Since their beginning they have rarely been honest with their members regarding mistakes they have made in the past, sometimes these errors costing the lives of their members. In effect they say do as I say not as I do.
