This report does mention blood and Jehovah's Witnesses. Nothing confirmed yet though

Fudging the Numbers: Is the WTBTS in decline?
by Coded Logic init's no secret that the wtbts has a cash flow problem.
over the past three years they have closed 20 of their 116 branches.
they have sold off most of their properties in and around ny (including some kingdom halls), drastically reduced the # of printed pages for the watchtower and awake magazines, reduced the printing of books and other materials, increased the number of single page tract campagnes, installed cc machines at their assembly halls, and are now seizing of controll of property assets from local kingdom halls using renovation projects.

I dont think they are fudging the numbers. Although they certainly put a spin on any bad figures they publish. The problem I think is that most of their increase these days come from the poorer areas of the world. That is the reason they want witnesses in the richer countries to pay a set amount forever each month if they are currently buying a kingdom hall. The extra money will help pay for halls in the poorer lands.

Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses introduce themselves when knocking on doors?
by Randomthoughts inmost random people who knock on the door politely introduce themselves when you open the door.. for example "hello, i'm derick from unicef and i'm looking for donations blah blah blah".
now annoying as it may be for some at least he had the courtesy to introduce himself.. why don't jw's do this?
is it because they are embarressed or perhaps they know you won't take their literature if they do?.

We were encouraged to say we were bible students in the service meeting when I was a JW. For the reason that saying we were JWs, people would not give us a chance to say our piece.

JW.Org And The Folks Who Vote With Their Feet
by metatron inthere is great enthusiasm in many congregations in regard to the wonderful new way to sit around wasting time in the "ministry".
so much easier than trotting from door to door.
however, some who set up the literature/jw.org carts have noticed a disturbing phenomena:.

I know certainly in UK, folks will take a wide path away from anybody who wants to impede their progress. There are plenty like JWs hanging around street corners so we are well used to avoiding them.

2014 MEMORIAL ATTENDANCES FOR REST OF THE WORLD
by steve2 inthe october kingdom ministry for the united states reported the 2014 memorial attendances for the us branch office that has subsequently been well discussed in a separate thread.
in that thread, a poster asserted that in some parts of europe the attendance had been higher than last year - but to date no source evidence has been provided.. so, have memorial attendances for other parts of the world been reported in any of the publications such as kingdom ministryyet?.
if so, could you direct me to the source(s).

The thread is about the attendance figures for the 2014 memorial. Nostromo gave us the figures for Estonia/Latvia/Lithuania/Finland. So it would be good if there are any others that have the attendance for their own country.

I think it is certainly true that many immigrants are more vulnerable to conversion by JWs. Of course this only makes a difference to the countries they emigrate to in their end of year service reports. The overall worldwide report would still give the correct worldwide percentage increase figure. So yes it may be that many of the more developed countries would show less publishers if it were not for the immigrants that accept the JW religion.
Certainly over the years the UK have had more than their fair share of immigrants, so it would be interesting to hear from JWs if the 1% increase most years is made up of many immigrants joining the faith.

ozbrad, there are always going to be ups and downs of average publishers over a number of years. Their service report for those years you mention agree with the census. But since then it has gone up slightly, but overall it is less than 1% per year over the last 20 years. You can see the figures in the link

Just had a look at the article and apparantly the guy was an elder who told his employer he needed those two times off when he started his employment. He was later transferred to another branch where the manager told him he had to work Sunday. He would not work Sunday so he was fired.
So I think in this instance the elder did nothing wrong. Here is a link to the story
