the same guy that spoke to my mum on the doors yesterday was talking about them in the same catergory , aswell as saying that there are alot of 13 to 15 year old girls hanging around the local night club looking for a one night stands (she should of asked him how he knew about this , is that because he is there ?

) his point was is a man of 25 that picks up a 15 year old plastered in makeup at a nightclub a paedophile ?

which was totally irrelevant to the point she was making about the local ex min servant that had abused his daughters friends in the cong even though he was good friends with thier parents and had known the girls since birth , so did know they were underage .

To be fair to the society they would say that they are as bad as each other and that unless they change their ways they will both be judged as unworthy. The problem comes when the society insists on the two witnesses rule, this makes it very hard for them to get conclusive proof of wrongdoing by a paodophile. A homosexual is much easier to spot and therefor he can be removed easier from the cong.

Jeffery, all these points you make are good but most people on this site already know about them.

Unfortunately it's not us you have to convince. The rank and file simply accept any changes that are made because the changes the G.B. make seem to make sense to them. It's been said before but the average witness is the type of person that likes to be told what to do.They are followers not leaders. They conveniently forget Pauls words to examine the scriptures for themselves to see if the things they are being taught are true. For those of us with family in the org. it is a constant frustration to us that they simply will not think for themselves.

children below 15 to get blood infusion even if parents object friday, february 29, 2008 at 06:49 est tokyo a joint panel of japan's five medical societies on thursday said that children under 15 who require blood transfusions should be given them, even if this means going against the wishes of their parents, such as jehovah's witnesses, who object to such treatment on account of their religious beliefs.

releasing guidelines on the issue in a press conference, the panel headed by fukushima medical university professor hitoshi oto said children under 15 should be socially protected, drawing a line at the age from which a person's competency to make a will is recognized under the commercial code.

"the guidelines will help facilitate the decision-making and choice of socially appropriate treatment by medical institutions," oto said.

This is really good news for young people in Japan. The 14 year old we heard about recently who died for not accepting a transfusion would still be alive if he lived in Japan.

Let's hope that many other countries follow Japan's lead and stop these neadless deaths among young people.

SO proud... Wife brought COC as reading material on a road trip...

we had a little family roadtrip last weekend, and my wife brought coc to read in the car!

she read quite a bit of it... .

what was great is she really sees it as not the truth.

You're right Robert you should both be proud of each other for firstly having the courage to read Ray Franz book and secondly realizing that you can no longer live a lie. Many, many people have read COC and I have not heard any negative comments about it from anybody that has an open mind. I faded about 12 years ago with just a little knowledge about what the society gets up to on the quiet. These days there is so much more info. available about them it's just a matter of whether you have the strength to leave your so called friends behind. If they are real friends they will accept that you see things different to them. Would definitely reccommend fading though much less traumatic for you both.

why doesn't it occur to my friends and family that.... for one hundred years (give or take) we could prove via scriptures and greek translation that the generation jesus referred to meant that no one born in 1914 would die before the end came.. then that changed (in 1995), but we were able to prove the new "understanding" via scriptures and greek translation.. now the "understanding" is changing again.

but i'm sure we can still prove it via scripture and greek translation.. what will we be able to prove next?.

If only witnesses would sit back and ask themselves how they would define a generation today ( forgetting any preconceived ideas that the society might have given them) they would realize that it is normally the time between say a married couple of 30 years old having children and those children growing up to reach the same age. The oxford dictionary puts it very well by saying 'it is the average time in which children are ready to take the place of their parents (about 30 years)'

This is just another example of the governing body trying to make everything as complicated as possible to make it appear that they know so much more than the average person.

Thanks for sharing with us your pics. Word, but I have to say the pictures of the Watchtower factory might show the massive printing operation the Watchtower has, but unfortunately it does not show what is being printed. What I mean is unless you are someone who has read this garbage it could well impress a person. Unfortunately the vast majority on this site have spent years of their life reading and studying Watchtower literature and have all come to the same conclusion, which is that the editorial team have no idea what they are talking about a lot of the time. This is shown from the changes they have to constantly make when something they have written is proved false or maybe they get found out and exposed for writing something they have covered up.

what is the official JW view on bible students?

while visiting some bible students sites, i wondered what the official jw view on these organizations is.

are they part of babylon the great simply because of refuting the post-1916 developments and the governing body?

as far as i know, they do not adhere to any of the false teachings jw like to refer to in debunking the rcc and traditional protestantism, such as hellfire, trinity, immortal soul.

It doesn't matter to them how devout you are, how faithful you are or how well you know your bible you will be for the scrapheap if you do not recognise God's appointed channel i e the governing body.You could reject all that the society reject even preach the good news and spread God's name, if you are doing this seperate from the society it will not save you at Armaggeddon. Sick isn't it. So different from Jesus and the apostles attitude.

Generation change in study article

i just finished reading the "journal" and it mentioned that they have said in the past that the generation meant the unbelieving jews, and then in modern day times generation meant world of unbelievers, now am i wrong to assume that what is mentioned in paragraph 15 of the last study article in the feb. 15th watchtower is that the annointed are the "generation"?

is this now new light?

are we to assume that this is still the truth despite the changes, i mean what if they are and our faith is being tested?

You're right this topic has been dealt with many times but as you have realized it is continually evolving. Just to enlarge on Moggy's point In the sixties when I was heavily involved with the borg, the generation that were to see all events started began with people aged 15. When that date was looking dodgy they changed it to anybody who was 10 years old that saw 1914 would not all die off. When that did not work they changed it to anybody 5 years old. Of course that proved wrong as well and then the next change came in the mid nineties as has been mentioned.

The society will always indicate that what they are saying is an absolute fact, and yet they now appear to have gone back to what Rutherford said 80 years ago. These changes and flip flops shows everyone that they simply cannot be trusted with explaining scripture.

Hard to disagree with what you say. This could be quite a useful way of helping those who have doubts about the org.

Although many witlesses don't like admitting it, nearly every good thing we take for granted in our every day life is thanks to inventions by people who.in many instances spent their lives createing something useful for society. How would the org. work without electricity, paper,the telephone, modern centrally heated buildings to name but a few.

They need to be reminded thay these things would not exist if they followed the Watchtowers advice of doing as a little as possable in their secular life to allow more time for 'kingdom interests'.

'I can only think 'Must Obey' that you must have been talking with dubs who already have doubts. Any dub worth his salt will pick up the smallest mistake and use it against you. As an example I gave my 29 year old son all sorts of reasons to question the teachings and you no what he picked up on. I told him the wrong year the internet was available for general use. This is the way they think. If they know something you say is wrong they will simply dismiss all the accurate imfo. you have given them.

So if you were to talk with an elder or anyone else who is strong for there faith you would be shot down in flames. They would say that although much of what Russell taught was right Jehovah's spirit gradually revealled the whole truth over the next few decades. For the reason that it was too much too take in all at once.The food at the proper time will be quoted at you. If you don't accept everything the channel feeds you then you are going against the org. which means against God.

'Just human' has got it right. You plant seeds of doubt gradually just like the society do. That is what works. Your points are ok but hardly life changing
