just wondering if i could actually get hard copies of some stuff for a 'donation' and not have to hunt it down.... mind you, i'd have a hard time making myself look conservative!.
I supose you could do that. You would certainly need to have some balls to do it .Of course some literature is only for those in good standing.
So no study copy of Watchtower, Kingdom Ministry, or some of the other books that are just for JWs.
You could say that you already have the 2010 cd rom and the new elders book, as they are available online.
Can you imagine an elders face if you said that (hehe)
i'll keep it short.. you're no doubt aware of the 'if the gb say something that seems odd, just go along with it' thing.

Why would they say that? They have already said the anointed to not have any special insight. There view is keep at it until God intervenes.

5 JWs base their religion totally on the bible
Now many of us are out of the religion I was wondering how you view those statements now.

As some have said before on this site, if future increase comes mainly from third world countries, the society will probably find less money coming in.
I believe it has started already
with the ensuing unrest in north africa and the middle east, i wonder if some "zealous" brothers and sisters are saying: "this is it!!!"..
didn't armageddon suppose to start in the mideast?
isn't the unrest moving closer and closer to israel?
There will always be witnesses that grab anything on the news to make their point. I guess many of us did the same when we were in. It didn't seem to matter whether Jesus or Paul had spoke of a particular trouble, we decided it must mean the end is just round the corner.
..., and while i usually contribute in a thread that's already been created, i thought this particular topic might warrant it's own.. like many of you, on friday i was persusing the "concerned elder speaks" thread about higher-ed and the gb's ross/rachel relationship with it, and a couple of posts caught my eye:.
room 215 - "that's it, boys; alienate the remaining elders, drive them to resign and exacerbate the shortage already underway.".
baltar447 - "it's like they want fewer elders and servants.".
At the moment the society is slowly grinding to a halt in Europe, but the rest of the world of JWs is still seeing increase. While that is happening, the money is still coming in. Certainly if the JWs in other developed countries wake up and leave, then the society will indeed be in serious trouble.
Here's hoping.
i was listening to the radio yesterday and the dj's were talking about the kindle and ipad and iphone.
they gave the number on how many are using them over reading books and news papers.
one dj said you can put a thousand books into the kindle and off yougo.
It's an interesting thought. If a householder said no to the magazines, do any of the witnesses tell the householders that they can read the mags online if they prefer.
Presumably the society would be very against them doing that, as it stops the dollers coming in.
i have 6 children, 5 with another ex-jw, now aged 17 to 23, all happy to be out of the org.
however, i'm having trouble with my 6th, 13 years old, but mentally challenged due to a condition called cystic hygroma before he was born.
he is mentally at (my guess from the other 5) a 9 year old's level.
To be honest I would have thought his brothers and sisters are the best people to show him that JWs ae not a good religion to follow.
The best line I can think of is how much of what the society have said has come true. Just about everything that has come from them has proved false. They only get things right that other non JWs have already said before.
If you have the inclination you can click on the members button and you will see members names a to z. Their are many pages on each letter. So there are certainly hundreds of members.

how irrational the society could be was experienced by the sister-in-law of ex-bethelite william (bill) cetnar when .... at the suggestion of her veterinarian, she had a blood transfusion given to her poodle to prolong its life.
she couldn't believe bill [cetnar]when he told her that the society would say she had violated god's law.
at his urging she wrote the society on the matter and the response she received informed her that she had done wrong.
The whole of the animal kingdom is full of animals eating each other, blood and all. I wonder how they feel about God creating the leach. Maybe it was created originally to eat straw. Hmm.
