  Woman talk to media about Church of Scientology ripping her family to pieces

  this was posted on yahoo news, informing people about a woman that claims her family has been ripped apart by the teachings of scientology.

  sounds like the situation for many of us here with our families still in jw land.

  Hey breakfast, that was great thing to do. Show family or friends something from another religion that disgusts them and then show how things are exactly the same in the JW religion. That Awake is priceless.

  Power taken from the Annointed?

  before the recent change, faithful and discreet slave represented every anointed individual that partook.

  anyone who was or claimed to be anointed was part of this faithful class.

  The joke is that most of the decisions I'm sure are taken by other witnesses. It is a massive worldwide organisation with many different committees so the vast majority of changes or decisions are taken by others, most of whom do not even claim to be of the anointed.

  Assemblies - what is the current structure/number

  looking for a bit of background on the assembly structure, realizing it may be a bit different this year due to the 100 year stuff.. in a typical calendar year, how many assemblies do the jws have (outside of the normal meeting structure), what are they called and what is the duration?.

  Whoops just a correction to my above post. There will two one day assemblies starting in 2015 and these will both be called circuit assemblies. The three day convention will be called regional asembly or convention.

  I believe they will now have two one day regional assemblies a year and one three day district assembly.

  The downsizing continues.

  Troubling experience at 1 day assembly re: little jw child

  just had my 1day assembly this weekend.

  an experience given by the bethel speaker was quite troubling and shows how jw's live in constant paranoia, anxiety and they isolate themselves from normal living.. a first grade class was having a fire drill.

  everyone ( except one) lined up and stood outside away fron the classroom in the grass.

  This is so typical of witnesses. Fancy clapping in that situation when there could have been a real fire. Instead he should have been given a good talking to by his parents. He needs to obey his teachers and authority figures, and if in doubt talk to parents later about a particular situation

  The GB's weekly meetings

  every wednesday the gb meet and discuss who the hell knows what.

  but i was wondering, is it just them or are the committee helpers and the laywers invited as well?

  that's gotta be around 20-25 people altogether.

  Ray Franz wrote that much time at those meetings were taken up by disfellowshipping matters. Theses days there are no end of committees dealing with every aspect of JW affairs. In reality I'm sure the gov body do very little, just rubber stamping what has been decided by other capable witnesses.

  The one thing I have learnt with the Watchtower over the years is that they always give themselves wriggle room.

  They will post two completely opposite statements sometimes, so that they can always point to the correct statement when it comes true. They also have said that prophesy can best be understood when it is actually fulfiiled, which actually means they can select the best scriptures to prove something was said years ago that has now been fulfilled.

  It has been said that you can make the bible say whatever you want, and the Watchtower society regularly does that.

  Confused?

  i have been going to meetings since i was a child, long story short only recently i've started taking the truth seriously, i am not baptized but just an unbaptized publisher.

  truth is i am so lonely in the congregation.

  the other young people in the cong don't like me because they dont think i am going to "stay" for long, i've even worked on the ministry with an older brother and asked her am i giving the wrong impression to people?

  Your main job I would say is to check yourselves if this really is the truth or not. Certainly if you get baptised you will be welcomed with open arms, but then in the future if you realize that actually this may not be the truth, they will avoid you like the plague. Even if you just question one doctrine you will be treated coldly by your fellow witnesses.

  So do yourself a huge favour, check out the orgs history. Have they proved to be totally trustworthy or have they in fact been misleading people for decades? But you must check others views not just JWs as they will be totally biased.

  I wish you well and hope you will come to the right decision and enjoy the rest of your life.
