On the reliability of the Watchtower

could you give a link to the articles of the watchtower society, where they claim that information from the faithful and prudent slave comes from god and jesus christ.

and also, that magazines publish not people's thoughts, but god?.

over 700 baptized yesterday at one convention in Africa

there was a french language congregation this weekend in congo dr which had 44,000 in attendance and something like 730 baptized.

i'm not saying that is good or bad, just reporting the news..

They do very occasionally have a quiet baptism, but only on very rare occasions. Watchtower like a public baptism, because it shows that people are joining the org. If someone was so disabled that a public baptism would be impossible then it could take place somewhere else, like a private home.

Much of Africa still has bad internet connection. Because of this those countries show the highest percentage rises in JW members. In countries where there is good internet connection, JWs have very little increase, in fact many of those lands are now losing more members each year than come into the org.

Wow thats an expensive Kingdom Hall isnt it? No wonder the borg want to get their hands on it. Great to hear about things that are happening on the other side of the world. Im in UK.

we found the site of our old kingdom hall--no longer a place of cult activity--unless the electric supply business has a dark side.

Such a well written story. I too have a good friend who I grew up with, and then both of us joined the cult aged 18. 55 years have passed since we both met at school, and even though we now live hundreds of miles apart we still think of each other, and get together from time to time. It took me longer than my friend to leave the JWs but we did, and now we look back on our time with mixed emotions. Yes was a complete waste of many years of our life, but at the time it was good because we both enjoyed a great social life. So although now our previous JW 'friends' shun us, (even though we both just walked away from the org) we still have some good memories of being together for all those years.

I guess one way is to watch and see if they are just looking round for much of the time, and paying little attention to what is being said from the platform.

Anyone think Assemblies will stop?

not completely but the expensive renting of halls or assembly hall ownership.

maybe with streaming they could have assemblies at the kh and stream the program.

i bet they cut costs in a lot of ways.

I think most members would just contribute once during an assembly. So we see how by cutting the number of days an assembly is held, can still generate the same donations, but will also cut down on assembly expenses.

as the leaked financial meetings show, watchtower (by it's own admission) has to liquidate 3000+ properties quickly.

how do they choose?

They tried to get more money through donations, but the members didnt respond in any long term way. So they have had to resort to cancelling projects and making many cutbacks. This will have the affect of making it harder and more expensive for their members to get to meetings, which in turn will see many just not bothering to go any more. The end is nigh lol

What are the JWs saying about Trump?

as much as jws say they are neutral, they can't help but discuss politics and label them as either bad or good and somehow connect it back to their dogma.

i remember hearing them discuss it all the time when i was a jw.

i can't help but wonder what the r&f are saying about trump and the many, many controversial events surrounding him.

I think many witnesses will see Trump as someone very different in a bad way, and will think he will have something to do with world events prior to Armaggedon.

Bridget from AZ (So many JW's hang up)

something i have noticed from watching many of bridgets videos is.

how many jws hang up on her.

this is what jws are famous for, having the door slammed in their face.

Bridget has an amazing approach. I always look forward to seeing her new videos. Many JWs dont hang up but they are utterly helpless when Bridget gives them the facts from their own material. They would love her to be an ex JW, so they can at least say she is bitter about being disfellowshipped. But she never was one, so that is a great benefit when talking to the Jdubs. I just love the pause when she says she is doing some phone witnessing and can she share a scripture with them. They just cant fathom how anybody else could do phone witnesing.lol
