ok, lets have a discussion about where we all came from, evolution or creation?
(or whatever you beleive in of course) every one put down there main reasons, along with reasonable facts and backup as to why.. .
hopefully this doesnt start to many arguments, lol.. .

i'm curious as to what drives some people to post at certain boards.. for me, i first came here over a year ago thinking this was a pro-jw site, ready to jump on the dubs.
lol.
little did i know.... i posted here exclusively for a while, but then found that the repetitive topics became tedious.
I've never been a JW, but have a friend that is involved with the WTS. I first came here to see why people left and what caused them to do so. It has given me a larger perspective of how hard it actually is to leave, especially when you have family and friends that are still in. It also showed me how much courage and suffering it takes for people who choose to stay in, knowing the lies and mind control involved, because they cannot bear to leave without bringing their family out as well.
I've watched people grow from bitter to better on this board. It is an amazing counseling tool.
Most of all, it proved to me that the WTS has enslaved many highly intelligent, wonderful, people who have a great sense of humor and are strong enough to break the bonds, even as they choose to stay and rescue their loved ones. You inspire me! You give me the inside picture of what is REALLY going on. I need that. Thanks to all of you!
i (a non-jw) went on a trip with my friend ( who is a long-time jw study) over the weekend.
i thought she might use it as an opportunity to try to seduce me into the wts view.
she never mentioned it once.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Like you said, I was trying to be compassionate without being critical. I don't want anyone trying to make her think I'm Satan incarnate! She has a meeting tonight, so I will probably hear more about what was said tomorrow. If you have any insight on what they might tell her tonight and what I could say to her tomorrow to ease her mind, that would be great! I'd like to be prepared.
Lady Marilyn is doing wonderfully! At first I kind of wondered if she would ever bond with us, but due to the heart worm treatment, and all the extra TLC, she is finding her place as our little lady. Thanks for asking about her!

I (a non-JW) went on a trip with my friend ( who is a long-time JW study) over the weekend. I thought she might use it as an opportunity to try to seduce me into the WTS view. She never mentioned it once. Not one word about any of it. Never heard the name Jehovah once. She didn't mention it, so I left it alone too. We had a great time!
Today when I was talking to her, she mentioned that while preparing for our trip the week before, she cancelled out on a study and then skipped KH on Sunday. Tonight she is going to a meeting or study. I can't remember which. Anyway, she said that she just knows her "guru" is going to put a big fat guilt trip on her, and she is dreading it. She said it really irritates her. I suggested that she tell her in a kind manner to read Romans 8:1 and maybe it would soak in that she should not be critical, because it is between you and God, not other people. What's right for her may not be right for you. God knows your heart. Your salvation isn't based on what "they" think you should be doing, is it? The religious Pharisees tried to give Jesus a lot of flack because He didn't jump through their hoops. He certainly let them know what really matters! (She agreed.)
Anyway, I thought you all might have better insight into this. She said she was going to look up some Scriptures to use in her defense. I thought this might be a good sign. Although she thinks they have it all right, she is getting tired of the pressure to "be there" all the time. She told me that is why she hasn't joined gung-ho yet. She doesn't feel like she can commit to the time demands.
for me it would be the walmart post.
i just told a story about having a bad day at walmart, and i happened to mention the races of the people.
omg!
Any time I have been a little snippy or irritated on JWD. Not long ago I posted a thread about agnostic vs. athiest. To make a long story short, someone referred to me as "gullible", and I made a snooty reply back. I had a bad day and the comment just went right through me. Why? Who knows?! (It certainly isn't the worse name I've ever been called!) I have those moments once in awhile. Don't we all? Any way, I am sorry for that one. I wish I could it back, and I'm sure there's a couple of others.
* I'm still a work in progress!
from the beginning of the jw experiance, i wondered what the plan was going to be after armegeddon.
we are to expect so much destruction, billions of people destroyed (how many birds does it take to eat 6 billion people in a timely manner?
) with the massive deaths and stuff to clean up........peoples bones for one, rebuiling and resurrecting the millions and millions that have died.....teaching them, and working to clean up the planet.
I must point out that there will be no electricity or fuel operated vehicles after Armageddon. Afterall, power plants and exhaust off of fossil fuels would pollute the air. Surely God does not have that as part of His plan for the restored, perfect earth!
I'm surprised that the WTS doesn't have some kind of deal going with the Amish for horse drawn tools and very well-trained draft horses. They should be stock piling these items and training JWs how to use them. Especially if the end is right around the corner! They will have to be able to know how to hitch all this stuff up.
Another good question was touched on! What about those who still don't decide to become JWs?! Since there won't be any more killing, how do you get rid of them? Doesn't seem like much justice in them getting to come back and live in the hand-built, hand-cleaned paradise earth with out ever lifting a finger.....and now there isn't any more death, so you're just stuck with them? Or is this when Jehovah remembers to forget them, and "Poof" !!, they disappear?
How do they explain all that?

I always wondered about this too. Keep in mind that I am not a JW, so I am kind of on the outside looking in. I even mentioned this to my JW friend.
It seems to me, from the way the WTS explains all this Armageddon aftermath, that I would be much better off not to convert, because it would seem I would be able to avoid a lot of hard work and gruesome cleaning tasks.
After watching all my non-JW friends, relatives, and children die a horrible death, I would get to see the birds and worms eat their carcasses. Then I get to go about the "happy" task of cleaning up their bones. Not to mention the fact that there won't be any bulldozers or power tools to help. From the looks of the pictures, it will all be done with wheel barrows and shovels. I'm not a very burley gal, so I think I would rather pass on that!
Then there's the resurrection thing. You have to teach everyone all over again! Even though the Bible specifically says we will no longer be teaching (Jer. 31:34; Heb. 8:12; 10:16-17), I don't know where those verses fit into the WTS, because it seems they have lots of teaching planned for forever and a day.
Am I crazy to think I would be better off going out at Armageddon? I mean, even if I did convert, I could end up losing my resurrection if I say or do something the WTS doesn't approve of. If I don't convert, I could screw up until the cows some home, and I still get to come back! I by pass the doors slammed in the face, the judgement of a bunch of KH busy-bodies, and I get out of all that gruesome hard manuel labor!
Am I on the right track?
i left jws 10 yrs ago and have just considered myself drifted.
never df'd.
could never go back as i personally found it too hard to live up to.
A couple of good books that might help you:
Releasing The Bonds by Steve Hassan and Bad News Religion by Greg Albright. They are probably at the library or can be bought cheap at Ebay. Excellent reads!

What a fun idea!
my friend has been a jw study for 9 yrs., not baptized yet.
but believes it all, as far as i know.
we rarely get to spend any one-on-one time, but we are going on an over-night trip this weekend.
Hello, everyone!
My friend has been a JW study for 9 yrs., not baptized yet. But believes it all, as far as I know.
We rarely get to spend any one-on-one time, but we are going on an over-night trip this weekend.
Since I am not a JW, I thought maybe some of you would have suggestions as to what kind of topics might come up. She tends to mention whatever was the "latest" in her JW group. I noticed that she mentioned a lot about friendships, etc... during the convention over the summer, and my other JW friends were mentioning the same exact stuff. I just wondered if there is any particular topic they are hammering away at lately that I should be prepared for? I know she skipped Wed. study night to prepare for the trip, so that was a big deal! (The trip is not JW related, by the way.)
Looking forward to advice and info. from you all! I'm leaving tomorrow, so any help you have will be greatly appreciated and put to good use. Who knows, it may be the moment of truth for her. I plan to take my Bible and Concordance only. (Have lots of notes in my Bible!) Mostly plan to have a great time as friends and not hammer religious issues, but if they come up, I want to be prepared.
Thanks for your input!
