i'm still slogging through "the god delusion" by richard dawkins, thanks in no small measure to spending too much time on jwd.

anyway, at lunch today i read dawkins, simple, elegant, somewhat embarrasing definition of faith:.

belief without evidence.

Problem is that Dawkins is poore phylosopher!

We have epistimology (really good phylosophical discipline) which deals with knowledge! What it menas to "know" and what IS "knowledge".

So basic definition of "knowledge" is "justified belief".

What Dawkins does is redefines belief as negation of knowledge... it is "Unjustified belief".
But belief by it's very definition is "unjustified" in some framework. More "justification" is not bound to be in the context of methodological-naturalism, that would be special pledging and actually!

So problem with Dawkins is that he starts with "methodologica-naturalism" as justified in itself without applying his own definitions to his own base beliefs.

And epistimology declares that there is no possible justification in general sense, there will be this problem of infinit regression... This is the part which I noticed materialists are just plainly unable to understand and comprehand, coz it flies in the very face of their own doctrine. Each framweork and paradigm at it's very bottom starts with accepting some basic truth on faith, declaring them true without seeking another justification for them. Really materialism starts there too with it's own base core beliefs.

And more... when you mix methodological-naturalism with phylosophical naturalism then you are in deep.. s... eee... Europa :)

Watchtower Value Destruction

My 0.02 $ after admitting that this is good post.

When you ask JW about all goods we have in possesion specially in Western culture which no doubt has be shaped by Satan System, JW are bound to go into contradiction. There are two possibilities

1. All inventors of Goods were not Satan agents but latent JWs but it can be prooven wrong, so we have to conclude #2
2. Satan is able to CREATE, which bluntly flies into face of name of Jehovah which by its core meaning is Creator

Reasoning #2
Satan is bound by God's will and used as tool with all his agents for good of Gods ppl - JW, this leads to contradiction

It means that God has bound Satan before Millenium and thus JW teaching is wrong and Christians are right by stating that Jesus really has all the power on the Earth and in Heaven last 2000 years allready!

Other thing is that by this scenario God makes Satan ppl look better and more CreatorLike then God's ppl themselves as we do not know any major values JW have created, but we can name meny meny major values Christians and even Atheists and Pagans (Islam) have created.

Jehovah Witness and honesty

the one thing they pounded into your head esp at convention time is honesty.

jehovah's people are the most honest in all the earth.

Answer: Well, we never get reports from those who are pushed off shore by the same dolphins!

Pharaohs heart? - NWT or NKJV

in exodus 4 vs 21 according to the nkjv god told moses that "i will harden pharaohs heart, so that he will not let the people go".. also exodus 7:3 "and i will harden pharaohs heart, and multiply my signs and wonders in the land of egypt".. these scriptures seem to suggest in nkjv that god purposely hardened pharaohs heart, which would in turn allow him to bring about the plagues in egypt so that the world would know that he was the true god of the earth.. yet, reading the nwt the same scriptures read - ex 4:21 "as for me, i shall let his heart become obstinate;.

ex 7:3 "as for me, i shall let his heart become obstinate, and i shall certainly multiply my signs and my miricles in the land of eygpt".

thus giving the impression that, that god would simply allow pharaoh to stubbornly refuse the israelites to leave eygpt.

My pastor explained this (and He is one of the best Latvian hebrew scholars) with parable. It is like puting cup with water outside in winter. It frozes into ice, but freezing is not activated by one who puts him outside, but because of default state of things! It is like God removes his grace from Pharaon and consequence is immidiate - Pharaons heart becomes hard. So actually cause of his hearthardening is Pharaons evil soul, but this becames possible when God removes his grace! Most important lesson here is that it is not WILL of God to make ppl evil. But sometimes he uses evil ppl to demonstrate what sin is! He is free to do so, as law allows to punish sinner. It is grace of God which renders sinners alive, not some law or our quality! And actually the thing is terrible fact, that God can kill you by removing his grace and you will die in your heart in your sin and consequence for others to see will be your evil deeds against God thus prooving that God was rigth in diagnosing your sin!

The "bodily reserrection of Christ" doctrine again falls apart under Bible.

i had once posted on this board that i have been talking to a born-again christian co-worker of mine on the subject of the bodily reserrection of christ doctrine.

i just cannot believe how satan has totally blinded the minds of people with regards to this doctrine.

i have tried just about everything and showed my co-worker every verse that totally destroys the bodily reserrection of christ doctrine (sometimes called the bodily reserrection doctrine) i know the problem is that born-again christians have to hold onto this doctrine because of another false doctrine they teach the "trinity" to explain away scriptures that clearly show jesus is not and has never been equal to jehovah.

And this is JW reasoning? Common guys, you can't be serious about it! If this is JW reasoning then you evend don't have to know much Bible to tear apart JW with such reasoning! Let alone sentecne that Angels are superior to man... Where does this comes from? Which of them are made in the image of God? Angels or Men? Which of them are servant spirits send to serve for those who gains salvation. Common... give me such easy JW, why they don't come to me?

over the past month i have been helping out at a church on a discipleship series on jw.

the point was to have someone there to teach the members jw doctrine with the end goal of them being able to witness to them.

Task of Christian when witnessing to JW is first give your own testimony, there is no scripture against it. Second, seed doubts, put truth in their hearts and it will grow slowly but in meny meny years. Give only one or two unanswerable questions... Nice places are Isa 6 with John 12:40- (if I am not mistaking) and Heb 1:8-10 with corresponding psalm. When you show only these two scriptures which prooves that Jesus is OT Jehovah, they will have the seed planted... ofcourse they will reject it in the same tone they allways do, but it is not your taks to convert them in doorstep. Do not protect truth, just release it and it will rage itself. Do not protect lion, let it out of cage and he will protect you!
