is it for legal reasons, from the watchtower's perspective?
anyway, when a person is da'd, they usually don't get an opportunity to defend their position.
From a number of posts on this board it appears that many are being DA'd vs. DF'd! Why is this? Is it for legal reasons, from the Watchtower's perspective? Anyway, when a person is DA'd, they usually don't get an opportunity to defend their position. They're simply "rubber-stamped" as someone who has DA'd himself or herself! Where is this in the Bible? What about the scripture that in paraphrase says "Do not go beyond the things written!"

I'm an x-elder (been in the "truth" for 40+ years, Bethel Service in the late 70's, Publishing Department, whatever that means)! I've been talking to friends of mine who are still elders and they've indicated that there's been a new directive to "visit" "inactive ones." However, I believe that the actual directive is to search out for those who do now want to be JWs and DA them as quickly as possible! I don't know why there's this directive, but I'm just reporting what I've heard!

I'm wondering if there isn't a new policy of DA'ing all those who no longer attend or are inactive "publishers" (find that in the Bible!). I've read a number of threads on this board whereby people are now being hunted-down, Nazi-fashion, if when queried, "are you one of JW?" they so "NO" and are promptly DA'ed! I've heard that elders were recently instructed to visit all "inactive ones" (actually to search out for "inactive ones" no matter how long they've been out!). However, I believe the real strategy is to DA (find that in the Bible) anyone, no matter how long they've been away from the KH, 30+ years, no problem, if they simply admit they don't consider themselves as being one of JW's! Elders, evidently, were instructed to ask the simple question "do you consider yourself one of JWs?" If anyone answers "no" there's an instant DA'ing at the next Service Meeting at the local KH! This is a travesty! In all my years of being a JW, I thought I would never see this day of such a witch-hunt! This is simply an appalling attack from the JW hierarchy! Satan is at work!

the repercussions of my argument with my mother on the phone the other week are starting to make themselves felt.
let me be clear: i've been disfellowshipped from the org for two years now.
i'm loving my freedom of thought.. so i was talking to my mom [still in the borg] and started expressing myself on various subjects on which i disagree, or at least see room for philosophical "wiggle room" with the society's viewpoints.
I suspect he may want to go after your parents for "talking" to you! So beware!

Can you please be more specific? I've raised a lot of issues about the UN thing with friends, even sending an extensive letter to someone on the GB (as expected I got no response). I believe the GB is trying to sweep this under the carpet! However, at the same time, they might be attacking anyone (indirectly) who questions them! How sad!

has anyone else heard about this?
i suspect that this move might be a way to downsize brooklyn bethel, perhaps with the idea that they can start selling much of their large, high-value estates in brooklyn, to compensate for their decreasing donations.

I was in Brooklyn Bethel from 1978-1980. I worked in the Publishing Department. Like JT, I also roomed at 107, 124 and Towers, but when I first arrived in the big house I was in the 58 building.
What opened your eyes James2300, to the truth about the truth? Were you DF'd / DA'd or have you just faded from the JW scene?

after leaving the borg, fully or partially, has anyone had good results in reestablishing relationships with non-witnesses family relatives?
i've got over a dozen cousins that i'd like to have a relationship with once again, but i'm not sure the best way to break-the-ice.
As most of you folks know, non-witness family members are treated almost the same way as JW's treat disfellowshipped people. After leaving the BORG, fully or partially, has anyone had good results in reestablishing relationships with non-witnesses family relatives? I've got over a dozen cousins that I'd like to have a relationship with once again, but I'm not sure the best way to break-the-ice. They all know that I've been a JW. Some have outspokenly said that JW's feel that they're of a higher, spiritual stature than they are, that JW's feel they are better than they are! I guess this is because of the Witness' shunning treatment of non-witness family members. Anyway, I'm wondering what others have done to reestablish family ties!

it's common practice for dubs to end their prayers with words that indicate that they are being made "in jesus' name" i.e.
through the mediatorship of jesus.
more than that, dubs listening to congregation prayers would be aghast if the prayer leader omitted the words "through jesus christ" as the concluding remark of his prayer.
The Society's mediator beliefs are even more bizarre when you consider that they also teach that the "anointed" are "declared righteous" before being taken into the New Covenant. If the purpose of this is that they can be viewed as "sinless" in God's eyes so that they can be taken into that covenant, why would they then require a mediator, Christ Jesus? Isn't a mediator needed because righteous God is on the one side and "imperfect" people on the other?
