one of the most ingrained things for long time witnesses to change their viewpoint on is the fds.

i believe that due to the constant information at the meetings, conventions, publications and elder's talks, the doctrine of the faithful slave is pounded into everyone's heads.once a person sees the misunderstanding of this teaching, it's easier to critically see the wrongness of the watchtower.

can you suggest easier, less complicated rebuttals to this doctrine?

I did have a post about a year ago about what I felt the FDS parable was really talking about, from a "scriptural" standpoint! Many others have done likewise. This is a worn-out subject, but it makes my blood boil every time I think about it! I'm not just "bitter," but convinced that the Bible does not support Watchtower's FDS teaching! Furthermore, here's another "simple" test: how is it that Watchtower says there are 2 slave classes when the parable only mentions 1 slave? I've tried several of these simple arguments on active Witnesses and they are left totally speechless. By the way, I do enjoy your posts on this board!

Ive got a very simple test. If the FDS was present in the first century, why don't we find it mentioned throughout the Christian Greek Scriptures? Certainly, if this teaching is suppose to be the centerpiece of Christianity (as the Watchtower would have it, making mention of it in almost every Watchtower!), Paul or other Bible writers would have mentioned it at least once, wouldn't they? This FDS-thing is really a way to control the masses and brainwash people into mass subjection to something that isn't real. In fact, it's a lie, untruth, a falsehood, and evil! In reality, they've managed to subjugate people to the Watchtower Corporation(s) by creating this imaginary entity!

1000 leaving Bethel - Why?

bill said something in his "disfellowshiped" post which i found very interesting.

well, a change occurred at the end of april much like what happened in china.the conservatives used silentlambs as an excuse to squash the liberals and any chance of reform in the organization.why do you think they are asking for 1,000 to leave bethel?

it is the liberals, they are being kicked out wholesale and by doing so the last chance for the organization to save itself.the battle is over, jaracz won.. i had heard about the 1000 people leaving bethel but it was spoken of as "downsizing".

I made one of the original posts about downsizing... however most of it is due to financial problems I believe! However, I also understand a few upper managers ("overseers") are being moved to foreign branches. I've heard that Ron and Linda Maxwell are being moved to the Mexican Branch Office. However, Ron has been a rebel at times, having close ties, in the past, to Ray Franz, while Ray was at Bethel. I suspect that this new arrangement is a way to get trouble-makers out of Brooklyn ! Ron is in charge of international construction! I cant understand why they would move him to Mexico , other than to shut-him-up (i.e., from the GB's standpoint: "let's get rid of the trouble-makers while we're in the process of downsizing!")! Furthermore, will the International Construction Office be moved to Mexico too? It sure looks like it! This is very strange! I suspect he's not the only one! Let's see what happens!

it is not a difficult thing to do to criticize wts literature, however i found this comment in a recent wt very enlightening as it seems to explain the unscholarly nature of much of what they produce.

it also is an object lesson on how to manipulate a conditioned group of people by the use of 'trigger words'.

i have highlighted these expressions, which are deliberately used by writing, as we have previously discussed to 'encourage' the readers to adopt a patently flawed line of reasoning.

Great points, Nicodemus and HILLARY, about the Societys own word studies! I too was thinking about their fixation with the greek meaning of parousia and how important this is in JW theology and date setting!

Nice letter, Bill! But if they wouldn't meet with you in your DF meeting (i.e., they locked the door so you couldn't get in, from what I understand!), what makes you believe they'll meet with you on an appeal request? Anyway, I do believe you were unjustly treated for sure! Welcome to the "unfaithful slave," who beats their "fellow slaves," by intimidating them in the media and eventually DFing them! Too bad for them, because they will, no doubt, receive a "heavier judgment!"

Sorry to hear that you're being treated this way Bill! However, as you know, the elders are getting their directives from the Big House; they probably don't know how to comply with the Big House's wishes since they're being asked to act contrary to the scriptures! Anyway, I've seen this same kind of crap before! This pains me greatly! Hang in there anyway! My prayers are with you and your wife! You'll remain in God's grace no doubt, for your steadfastness in support of abused ones! Keep on fighting!!!

So...how to get UN NGO book

i know i've seen reference to the un ngo listing document somewhere.

as i recall, the '2002' edition was published before the wtbts withdrew from the un, such that they were still listed in it.

now, my family (all good jws) are insisting we come over for my mom's anniversary and i'm, like, 100% sure they are planning on bringing up our recent very obviously anti-jw behavior.

" only 6 replied to the request in the last 3 weeks.

it looks like the "waters" of bethel are drying up, or rather, their revenues are drying up!

I held-off from putting anything on this board because I was waiting for an official announcement to the family (including and the Farm). According to my source, who has access to financial records, they've had a sharp drop-off in donations in the last 2 years. Consequently, they're forced to make these cuts. Foreign branches (including Hawaii) were told to make similar reductions a year ago and have reduced staff by 30% or more in some cases.

The GB views ever increasing #'s (including increases in administration) indicative of Gods blessing, whereas decreasing #'s as a lack of his favor. Therefore, I'm sure that they waited until the last minute for this reduction.

This is no joke. It was announced to the Bethel Family recently. I found out from a friend of mine who is still in Bethel and works in data processing for the accounting department!
