Hey Nec! Great Post! You missed though, a few articles I’ve seen circa 1969, which were extremely derogatory toward higher education! Demonized it to an extreme! But thanks for your balanced/summary view of what they did say. It still makes me sick/ill, and I’m sure it does the same for you! This issue over education is a major pet peeve, since I turned-down scholarships to prestigious universities (I got straight-A’s in High School, and was on in the National Honor Society) in my late teens. I’m still pissed-off, since at age 48, it’s difficult to compete against others, even with my vast experience, that have a degree! I HATE YOU WITCHTOWER!

And of course, those that ordered a crown/cross, pin-emblem from the Society were obliged to pay for the pennant they ordered from the Society; most folks prepaid! The “sister” who studied with my mom and me, told me that they had a garbage can next to the literature counter, and when they received their emblem, crown/cross, they were instructed to throw it in the garbage! Of course some, like this “sister,” did not do this but kept it! She was very proud of it and other prior emblems she had collected! It was very interesting to see!

Example of lying and deception in What does the Bible really teach
by yesidid inso theyve done it again.
once more the wbts tries to give the impression that they,or at least russell and his followers believed in the late 19th century that christ would return in 1914. .
of course we know that until the mid 1920s at least they believed and taught that jesus .

Actually, they believed long ago, that Christ returned in 1874, and that 1914 would be the end-point of Bible promises!

Are birthdays now a "conscience matter" for JWs?
by Elsewhere ina few months ago my jw sister emailed me out of the blue asking for me to suggest a good telescope for her little girl (about 12, but i'm not sure).
my niece has had a strong interest in science since she was very little and my sister is trying to encourage her.
if you are wondering, yes, my sister and her jw husband do shun me... so basically she got the info she needed and then disappeared again.

Are you kidding? NO, BIRTHDAYS are a DF’ng-offence! At least after the iniital birth!
Please let me explain:Consider what actually happens among JW’s. JW’s DO celebrate birthdays! They celebrate the actual birth of a child, and celebrate its birth via a "shower!" I call it a "birthday shower!" Am I wrong here? I don’t’ believe so! I guess they don’t call it that, but that is what it is, yes?
Please ask yourself, do they give presents? Do they have a dinner celebration? Do they have a cake? Let met see: If it quacks as a duck, walks like a duck, looks like a duck, it’s probably a duck! Agree? Yes, JW’s do celebrate birthdays, but only the initial birth of the child! If they do it a year after, or anytime subsequently, they've done such and an aggresses act, that they are summarily disfellowshipped from the "Christian Congregation" (their terminology)! How SICK!

Watchtower harping on "last generation" and 1914 on website

Hey Dogpatch,In the dark band of each section, it says it was "published in 1993." Evidently this came out prior to or at the same time of the District Convention 1993, when the "new light" about the "generation" was released. Watchtower seems to have no problem releasing "old light" on its web site.

I can be a Jehovah's Witness and fight fires at the same time...
by TresHappy inmike davis, firefighter.
bank one forest park (3:05 p.m.): it may be less than a foot square, but mike davis and fellow forest park firefighter julie stanley work the smoldering patch of mulch as if it could turn into a full-fledged fire.
they till soil around the tree and douse it with water until the smoke stops.. it's a non-emergency response for engine 42. with no sirens or flashing lights, it's excruciatingly routine.

When I was in Bethel, circa 1978-1980, there was a large number of Bethelites that were fire-department volunteers and did fight fires! Go figure!

by glenwoodswoman ini never had the desire to read the book in all the years i have been "liberated".
joining this board got me curious about the book and i am finally reading it....and i am blown away by it!.
i left for reasons of my own- the society and i could not agree on who should run my life- them or me-i always felt that this life style works for some people, but not for me.. now that i am reading coc, i see the whole issue in a much bigger light!

There must be an "organization"
by sinis ini have not, nor will go back to "meetings" after finding out how i was spiritually mislead through the years.i have actually found more comfort in doing my own studying.
my wife still goes occassionaly and her sister and brother-in-law just started going back.
so we went over there house the other night and we got into a conversation in which he said they went to the meeting today (sunday).

You have to realize that the Society’s use of the expression "Organization," means much more than merely being organized! They of course, discredit "defamers" that say, "there is no need for an Organization or to be organized!" (their words!) However, this is a very deceptive ploy to dismiss/deflate logical argumentation and logical thought.
Their use of the expression "Organization" means much more than merely being organized! Rutherford began the expression I believe, because he needed some way to explain why the leaders of a publishing company needed to be in charge! If the Biblical expression "Congregation" was sufficient, then why this extraneous expression? My 2-cents!

JW’s are quick to dismiss anything not directly supported in the Bible! They say "the word ‘Trinity’" isn’t in the Bible, therefore, a false teaching." Okay, how about "Organization?" Where is that in the Bible?
