i just received an invitation to my cousins wedding.
he is a jw, and used to be a close friend.
i am thinking about going to it, but i have a couple of issues.
My cousin did not attend my wedding last year (he was invited).
He must not feel that close with you as he 'missed' your wedding.
Maybe he 'invited' you in hopes of getting a gift. I find that most weddings are designed that way. Invite as many as possible(especially those that won't attend) and hope for
many nice gifts/cards/money, etc.
i remember many years ago, a sister in her 40's who just joined, told me that i looked like a jw.
she said i have the face of a jw.... .
i've never been so insulted in my life.....
Another thing I'd like to add. And no offense to my gay friends.
I've always felt that male j-dubs appear to be gay or at least femine in dress and behavior.
My brother can definitely pass for being gay, and during my time as an active j-dub, my appearance was very similiar.

My brother and I look a lot alike. However it is painfully obvious that he is the spiritually strong j-dub whereas I'm the inactive, 'spiritually weak' one.
I prefer to have longer hair, somewhat messy. He's got the 'society look' very short hair, stupid grin, glazed eyes, and occasionally wears glasses which
really accentuates the 'society look' that he has.
...inform any mis-led watchtower member, that jesus didn't die of liver failure or lung cancer at 33 years of age.
he died, because the unloving, uncaring elders of his generation, where jealous and power hungry.
any time any watchtower idolater calls at your door, inform them that jesus did many things (john 21:25).

i often wonder if my old witness friends from my past are still in the 'truth' (god i hope not)?
i know this site is pretty popular amongst ex-witnesses.
and since most of us have 'fake names'...we could be talking to someone that we already know.

Ok, that's all I can remember at the moment.
lets say a brother or sister loses their job, falls on welfare, doesn't have enough to eat.
what do the elders do?
a) tell them that the organization is not a place to beg but to preach, to give and not to receive.
My experience has been that here in the states, the wt corp AND the majority of individual j-dubs are not very generous in helping those in need.
My experience in other countries, specifically, third world countries, I find that the j-dubs are very generous amongst eachother, however wt corp is not.
while working at one of my rental units this morning hooking up a pressure washer to wash down the house, who should stroll up behind me but three dubbies passing out invitations to the district convention.
the oldest, bout 60ish asked me if i lived here or was "just working".
i told him "neither, i own the place"!
I hope he goes home and does some research about his beliefs before he decides to preach again.
i talked to my dad yesterday , i had some thing to tell him about my sister's death, things i found out at the police station.
well, anyway......he told me that what keeps him going is knowing that he will see ginger really soon.
he told me he didnt mean to preach to me but he loves me and wants us all to make it thru the big a, so we can all be together as a family once again, including my mom and my sister who have passed away.. he told me we have to live for our kids,,,,,and help them thru this old system.
Sad. If your dad had used his time wisely to enjoy your mom and your sister while they were still alive he would be thankful for the time shared together.
Instead he has focused his life and efforts on a dream that will never come true. He believes that 'paradise dream' will reunite him with the family, but in reality it's what
prevented him from spending quality time with loved ones while he had the chance.

on another thread, a co says that sites like these don't have much impact on their numbers.. personally i didn't leave because of this site or any other xjw site.. i was unhappy and felt that something was wrong and this site confirmed what i felt.. how about you?
For me, the internet gave me an opportunity to confirm my true feelings about the j-dub cult.
I think that is also the same case for most people here.
Deep down I believe most of us had a bad 'gut feeling' about the j-dub cult and the internet helped confirm are feelings.
I personally think we need to give ourselves credit for having these nagging feelings that something is wrong. At the same time I'm very thankful for the internet and informative
sites such as this one. This is actually the only site i frequent and the only one I've ever enjoyed.
