  I wonder how many lurkers there are??

  i've noticed that there seem to be new ones starting to post daily.

  i've also noticed that a thread can be created, then have a couple hundred views within seems like minutes.

  i'm not sure how many registered posters may just view a topic and move on without posting, or even if non-registered viewers are even counted on the view count, but i sure hope there are many lurkers and that some will join the fold soon.. .

  Dad is doing good..

  first of all i want to say thanks to all those sending good thoughts/vibes and even prayers!.

  my dad made it through 7 hours of surgery, he did loose quite a bit of blood but he's a tough old man and is hanging in there.

  the stroke affected the left side of his body, the doctor thinks he will have some loss of function on his left side, but until he actually wakes up fully and goes thru therapy we really won't know.. i don't know if it's because i'm a nurse or if the nurses and doctors were tired of dealing with the jw's and my mom, but they gave the ok for me .

  i have many hopes for this post.

  ideally, it will be an eloquent explanation of my actions, more for myself than anyone else.

  also, i hope that there are tons of others out there who have, or have had similar feelings and experiences who can contribute insight to the discussion.. as a witness, my mind was relatively closed.

  Criminals? I never understood until I sat amongst them in a county jail holding cell. No one ever plans to be there, its all a lack of foresight and bad luck thrown in a blender.

  Were you arrested at one time? Maybe I missed it in one of your previous posts.

  I've been studying with JW's for a few months..

  i've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.

  i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .

  but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.

  Just got a phone call

  just got a call from my jw mom, she wanted to let me know that my dad was taken to the hospital friday!!

  !, he had another heart attack.

  he is on a ventilator and needs bypass surgery (again) but the doctors can't operate since his hemoglobin is low and he has been on coumadin (blood thinner).

  Let the stones cry out!

  how often have you heard the phrase "if we don't preach, the stones would cry out"?

  this is in regard to the ministry.. what i cannot figure out is (1) this is so urgent that we have to be out 18+ hours a day doing it, (2) we have to endure all sorts of conditions to accomplish our ministry, and (3) we are supposed to get it perfect so people can be drawn in.

  so, why don't the stones get to help us out?

  justitia themis had a topic 'disgusting comment re: education from tacoma 2007 district convention' regarding a talk on education that those pursuing degrees would be d.e.a.d.

  unfortunately that stupid comment was not made at the dc i attended, but i am providing the audio to let ones know how far the society is going in discouraging ones from pursuing college by using weak and tired arguments.. http://www.box.net/shared/s523re4c7i.

  Sister Tracy Fuentes couldn't find work after 4 years of studying Kinesiology (the scientific study of human movement [ref] - That just means she made a very stupid decision in choosing her degree. Why would anyone in their right mind choose to study Kinesiology and think they can get away without at least medical school after that??!!?? Had she studied engineering of any sort by how she could have been a millionaire or at least have a very good salary.

  Agreed,,, and instead of blaming higher education as the problem, she should be accountable for, and accept what was her own bad decision.

  Just got back from the Public Talk/WT study......very disappointed

  so i finally went back to the sunday meeting after missing it for over a month.

  i've been to the tms/service meeting a couple of weeks ago by the way, but i've consistently missed the one for sunday.. i dreaded going, but i think i will go to the sunday meetings every couple of weeks for a while.

  between my dad and another factor, i think it will be best to go that route for a while.

  If I remember correctly, you were a ministerial servant? Are you still in that position? And if so, how long will that last before they delete you?

  It sounds like you are taking a proper course in fading. It'll keep the pressure off for a while. But I do believe that even a good fade is a lot like a credit card bill, eventually the

  payment is due. In the case of fading, that payment often comes in the form of being marked, df'd or disassociating yourself.
