They actually had a demonstration about using the internet? Did they have a computer and monitor on stage for the demo?

DC, all but gave directions to the JWD site
by ocsrf in.
i found the dc very interesting this year do to my reading of this site.
i took note that the danger of the internet was menitioned no less than three times, once with a demonstration showing a brother who found a site by a innocent search of the web on a jw subject to the very last talk, concluding remarks and final "resolution" that consisted of 10 items with number 10 staying away from dangerous sites and chat rooms.. makes you wonder what the real story is behind that much attention being given to this problem iof theirs.. oc

Did you have a Witness approved car?
by free2beme inwhen i was a witness, i was told that a responsible witness purchased a car that was able to be used in field service.
as an example, it would have four doors to allow easy entry for a car group of 4 to 6 people.
it was something that was not to showy, meaning it was not a lexus or something that would make it seem that witnesses were materialistic, especially when working a poor part of the community.

When I was active, I had unapproved vehicles. Jeep, motorcycle, etc. now that I'm inactive, strangely enough I have a 4 door J-dub approved vehicle.
And yes, it was expected that j-dubs buy 4 door vehicles or larger to handle the car groups. I agree with a previous poster, if you are expected to pay more for a
j-dub approved vehicle, then that vehicle should be sponsored, or partially sponsored by the kingdumb hall.

Leaving the family to become an adult
by greendawn inhow did the breaking away from your family and the beginning of your independant adult existence go, at the time when it was due?
did it happen smoothly or was it difficult?
did your family try to keep you dependant or encourage you to spread your own wings?
-
Highlander
My family for the most part let me make my own decision. They didn't do much to encourage, or discourage an independent lifestyle. It just came natural for me.
However I must add, that I wasn't able to break completely free of them until I moved 2000 miles away from them. I was never dependent upon them financially, but
I realized how much peer pressure there was among the j-dubs and family members when I lived so close. Now being far away, I now have my OWN life to live and don't
submit to their peer pressure.

"deliverance at hand!"
by freefly inyesterday a.m. -a little knock at my front door, i answered to see a man at the end of my driveway who turned around saying "i just left an invite with your newspaper...have you read the front page news about the chopper crashes linked to drug scheme (more than 40 people arrested in major cross-border smuggling case)" i looked down at my newspaper and saw "deliverance at hand!
" title of invitation...(cordially invited to attend) page tucked inside.
looked back up and he was gone.

This is another fine example of how the J-dubs break apart the family structure. They preach about having strong family units but in reality they are only good at
breaking them apart.

What is it? Not a bird or a plane, but an ark?
by truthseeker inthis post has a little more detail than the previous post on noah's ark.. it could be older than the ark or newer.. there are some really good pictures here.. without another debate on whether the flood happened or didn't happen, does anyone have any ideas as to what this thing is doing so high up?.
if it is a boat, then what the heck would a boat be doing at this height?.

I definitely know very little about petrified wood and geology, however my question is this.
If this is an 'Ark' of some sort, that landed upon the top of a mountain, how did the wood become petrified? My understand of petrified wood is that it typically occurs
in rivers or streams, and that mineral carrying water rushing past a piece of wood, slowly disentegrates the wood and replacing it with the minerals carried by the water.
On top of a mountain, how would this process occur?
Again, I know very little about this, but I think I have a valid question.

Star Jones Kicked off the View . . .
by sandy ini hate to sound so superficial but this made my day.
lol .
i never cared for her and i think she is far too full of herself.

I don't like Star for the same reasons I don't like Tom Cruise, Russel, or Paris. Her skin color has nothing to do with it.

it had to do with implants and sub messages.
it won't be long and they'll have to use implants in order to retain any membership in this cult

Help! My "devout" JW's mom is "pioneering" at age 76 on a cane.
by booker-t inposters i have tried "everything" to show my mom that the wts is full of beans but she just won't budge.
i have heard through some non-jw's relatives that my mom who is 76 years old and having alot of problems with her knee is pioneering.
i am so worried about her standing in front of the donut shop or supermarket at 6:00 am.

Would she still pioneer if her cane went missing?

Well my weekend is most probably going to suck ......
by troubled mind inthe witness- in -laws are coming for a visit .
my hubby has slowly been getting use to the idea of never stepping into the hall ever again , he no longer feels guilty about missing meetings, and made no plans to attend summer convention .
he has not asked me to tell him any of the research i have done (i think he really fears to know the real truth ).

Just imagine if the Band Camp girl in the movie American Pie was a J-dub. Instead of beginning each conversation with the famous "This one time, in band camp, we..... "
It would now be, "This one time, in field service, we..... "
You're right,, J-dubs seem to have nothing else to talk about except. 'this one time, in field service, we.... "

In downtown Los Angeles, if you cross when the light says "do not cross" despite the fact that the green light is in your favor, you will STILL get a ticket.
Apparently you can only cross when the pedestrian light gives the 'cross' sign.
I was with a customer in downtown, and he refused to cross the street with me unless the pedestrian light was on. He informed me he had received a jay-walking ticket
the week prior to our meeting.
