Good point Mary, what we're describing is NORMAL for the congregations. So no,, zero FIASCOS.

Yep, that's the PO's old company. I believe he sold that off, but now has a new company that's identical to it. Who do you know from that company? Anyone from PC?

Wedding Rules of the Oct. 15th Watchtower
by minimus ini read parts of that wt.
all about weddings.
to sum it up, you can have zero fun.

Curious.....why would you continue to read the WT if you find it offensive? Does this not impede the progress you've made thus far to get out of that religion?
I believe that many of us still have family that are trapped in this cult and therefore we want to keep a watchful eye on what information they are consuming. For other's it can be theraputic to openly be critical of the organization and the info it provides, for as members of this cult, being critical was forbidden and the consequence was being shunned by our 'loved ones'

Pine city, Minnesota had the usual FIASCOS.
There is the brother appointed as an ms, that for many years have been molesting his daughter.
Then, there's a younger brother who at the age of about 17 was caught molesting a young girl he was babysitting. no charges were filed,, only a slap on the wrist as in public reproof.
I do believe the father of this younger brother had pedophile tendenices. My sister was babysitting this 'younger brother' when he was maybe 10 years old or so,, the father came home
sat next to my sister,, commented to her that she and all the other young sisters in the congo were really developing nicely, then proceeded to put his hand on my sister's thigh.
Like father, like son. My sister doesn't know that I have this info about her. I was told by her husband. I pray(if there is a god) that nothing more than that happened to my sister.
Then ofcourse there was the usual Multi-Level-Marketing schemes that were started by the PO of the congregation. He's an a$$hole as far as I'm concerned. He likes to play the part
of an important CEO and be in charge of everything and everyone. In the past he's moved to the eastcoast, but he always ends up returning to small town minnesota. In my opinion
it's because he can't handle being a small fish in a big pond on the east coast, so he returns so that he can be the big fish in the very small pond of rural minnesota.
The MLM scheme that was implemented by the PO got to be such a problem than when the CO made a visit, he had to clean house and stated that he wasn't going to allow
such a scheme to 'bring down' jehovah's organization. After that, they no longer pushed the scheme among the congo members, and eventually it died out.
MLM schemes typically thrive in religious settings as the congo members typically place a lot of trust in eachother.
For many years I was in the automotive business, and I grew so tired of the congo members that would never say hi to me or associate with me, but when their care 'broke down'
then all of a sudden I'm their best friend and they expected me to provide free service to them. Many of these were family members which made it all the more sick.
I left that congo 10 years ago and I'm sure that what I've experienced is just a 'snap-shot' of what has happened in the past and continues to occur. I can only imagine the other things
that have occurred that I have no knowledge of.

Why would God want to destroy the world?
by DavidChristopher inmakes no sense to me,,,,,.
we have the means to accomplish that..and there are many people willing to do it too.. why would he want to put our necks in a noose..when we do it ourselves?.
who could blame him for us killing ourselves?.

Perhaps you misunderstood me, I was not condemning your opinions. I am just a debate freak.
You may also have killed your own thread. Why would anyone want to state their opinions as Arthur did, only to be attacked by you?
Debating can be very constructive. However I do believe Arthur summed it up correctly, when he stated he didn't want to get into a pissing contest.

Life beyond JW -- A Worldly Wife asks......
by Worldlywife inoutside, looking in.... most, if not all of you, have chosen to leave the jw religion.
many have simply stopped attending meetings or 'walked away'.
although i have limited knowledge of the religion, i have come to understand and appreciate the reasons why folks have left and why their departure was done without formal notification of such; e.g.

I detest the 'worldly' term so much because I see it as an ultimate divide created by leaders to instill fear, derision and prejudice in their followers. An us against them mentality. I'm a 'worldly' person so I've felt that prejudice up close and personal and to me, a JW has gone past that life when they can stop judging people and events based on the Watchtower beliefs and prejudices. sammieswife.
I too, detest the term worldly. I consider it a form of 'religious racism'. My family knows better than to use that term around me. I simply ask them if they are willing to walk up to a
non-jw and call them a worldly person to their face. The inevitible answer is no, they wouldn't do that. And I respond by saying, "if you're not willing to use that term in the presence of
a non-jw, then it's just as inappropriate to use it in this conversation"

Enjoy my life.
Enjoy real, true friends.
Learn to be open minded and accepting of all people regardless of their religious beliefs.
Soon I'll donate blood, because I want to, and because I can!
while I'm at it, I'll try eating a blood sausage.
Send a father's day gift to my dad.(he'll enjoy that)
Send a mother's day gift to my mom(She'll probably shun me for it)
Do charity work.
Though I'm agnostic, someday I want to try attending another church.
Go to college.

Hangman's Noose
by Outaservice inyou men, now that you're out of the witnesses do you still find yourself wearing neckties?
are you keeping them?
how about suits, do you ever wear them anywhere?.
-
Highlander
I enjoy wearing nice clothes. For my business I can wear jeans if I want, but I choose to wear a polo shirt and dress pants. On the very few occasions I find myself at a KH
I make it a point not to wear a tie. Kind of my way of saying FU to the informal(required) j-dub dress codes.

Twenty years ago when I started to attend the meetings, there was around 8,000 partakers, last year there were around 8,000 partakers....um
Vitty, I always did get a kick out of that. I'm 31 years old, and for my entire life the number of anointed never really changed.

Death and Ex-JWs
by Mysterious init's a long weekend so it's time to bring out a big issue, death.
i know it's something most ex-jws (at least for a while) struggle with when they exit the organization.
i think a weird moment for me was yesterday when my boyfriend's parents called.

I'm still coming to terms with impending death. I consider myself agnostic, so therefore I don't put any stock in a paradise dream.
Though I don't believe in a god(I'm open to the possibility of one if he'd just have the guts to show himself!!!),, I still haven't quite accepted the reality that I WILL die someday,
just like my dad will die, as my grandparents and older generations have already died.
It's a slow process, one that I hope to come to terms with. I hope.
