Zev,
The PR letter discusses judicial activity within the congregation, not compliance with the law. You shouldn't call people liars in giant sized fonts if you can't comprehend a few simple sentences.
this was read and given to all media at the march.
the outrage is to great to express, who are these people?
silentlambs .

This sure sounds like it is less and less about the children and more and more like it is about people who want retribution and apologies.
I think the WT's policy as it stands is very reasonable, and it's not J.R. Brown's fault if idiot elders don't do what they're supposed to.
: What do you tell the parents of the child if they want to warn other parents of what happened to their child?
You tell them that they better be prepared for the consequences if the person is not guilty of such an abhorrent accusation and to think carefully about what they say. Just as we all have to do when faced with critical situations in life
: What do you tell them when they want to go to the the police?
You tell them it is their decision to do so or to not do so.
: How do you know he has really "stopped his wrongdoing?" Are you going to follow this man everywhere and monitor him everywhere he goes even to his own home where his children are?
No, you presume a person is innocent unless evidence points to guilty behavior.
: Is this not what is EXPECTED of all citizens, that they comply with the law and not tamper with justice? Why does this have to be a "policy"? Shouldn't it be assumed?
They are spelling out their strict compliance with the law. Of course it is assumed, but apparently some in the silentlambs don't appreciate that and need to be reminded.
the allegations of sexual abuse against at least one child and subsequent attempts to cover over the crime made against theodore jarcacz are extremely serious.
they have of course, yet to be proved one way or the other and theo jaracz has the right of proper representation both outside and within the walls of the wt, and should be allowed to defend himself against these accusations.
many persons who have in the past been accused of 'gross sins' become victim of an investigation by elders.
Minimus is right. There is nothing that says Jaracz has to be investigated or questioned by anybody. And if I were him, whether the allegations were true or not, I would have no comment whatsoever.
i'm not a jehovahs witness...i dont know what i am.
when i was younger and my parents were divorced, i celibrated different religions with each family, attending many differnet churches, from methodist, to catholic, to christian and so on.
as a result, i was unable to seperate the beliefs of each religion and not really understand what i believed in and where i belonged.
: Is Jesus Christ a TRUE GOD or a FALSE GOD?
I give myself a dollar every time I hear that claptrap. Thanks.
atlanta, georgia (cnn) -- a suburban atlanta school board thursday night voted unanimously to allow teachers to introduce students to different views about the origins of life.
the cobb county board of education, the state's second-largest school board, approved the policy change after limited discussion, calling it a "necessary element of providing a balanced education.
the board's vote drew cheers from some and expressions of dismay from others in the packed meeting room.
: "Evolution has not been proven," said Taylor, who joined the debate over what should be taught in Cobb schools after reading about the ACLU lawsuit. "There are a growing number of scientists who are skeptical about Darwinism."
ACK! Double ACK! Triple ACK!

when i was a young man, i didn't think about death.
in my 20's, i thought life would go on forever.
now, that i have lived 6 months longer than my father, and my wife is faced with a life threatening situation, my views are quite different.. i have to ask myself what i want to accomplish before i die.
Larc, I appreciate your words. Going through open heart surgery at 30 years old wasn't in my plans; at first the news was shocking (I was hoping/expecting I'd simply have to change my diet) but now it is sobering. When my heart skips around a little now, or my rate heart goes up, even though I should have little to worry about, thoughts of it stopping and me gasping for my last breaths sometimes fill my mind.
I am in the process of reevaluating a lot of things in my life, because I feel like I've wasted a lot of time and energy on things that really aren't important. So I appreciate posts like yours which give me pause for relection and contemplation.
my family was playing around the other day, humming different songs from tv shows and getting the other one to guess what show it was.
then we asked what song best describes you.. my family agreed, mine would be ghetto girl, by little bow wow.
lol.

referring to the excellent "kitchen" witness scene in gregbetre's thread regarding jw's denying the deity of the christ, i do have one question..... .
rev 1:8; 17-18; 22:13 states that jesus christ is the alpha and the omega, the first and the last, and the beginning and the end.
i don't think it is true that all jw's will say that rev 1:17 refers to jehovah.
Hi Trot,
Like I said, the Trinity is read into the Bible, not found in the Bible. You can try to define the Trinity all you want. All the illustrations in the world won't matter.
The fact is, the Reasoning book does address the Alpha and Omega issue quite clearly and so have several Watchtowers. I believe this is one of the very most weakest trinity arguments out there.

Hi Trot.
That's cool. But what it seems you're doing is reading the Trinity into the scriptures instead of reading the scriptures and finding the Trinity. I have to agree with Dakota -- even as an ex-JW Christian I couldn't buy the Trinity, and Buzzard's book is quite good in explaining how very unlikely it would have been for certain Bible writers (and Jesus himself) to have taught or believed the Trinity.

I think it's simple. JWs do not believe that the Son is co-equal with the Father based on so many texts you are already familiar with. The Trinity sets up a paradox where the Son is both equal and inferior the Father. JWs do not believe that Jehovah expects anyone to trust and believe something like that. So when Jesus is called Alpha and Omega, it must be referring to something other than an eternal nature.
After all, where is the Holy Spirit called Alpha and Omega?
And furthermore, the Bible calls Jesus the King of Kings. It also says that Nebuchadnezzar was the King of Kings. Can we rightly assume that Jesus is Nebuchadnezzar?
