Aren't Nark, Leolaia and pete great to have here? I love their input. It must take them hours to write all of their posts every day here. It takes me hours and I post tiny little snippets and only 25 a day at that.

defd, I would like to agree with you, but Joe Malik's explanation seems to wrap up all the inconsistencies pretty well in a nontrinitarian way. Jehovah restored the Logos and the Logos raised Jesus the man in the flesh. In Acts 17 we have Greeks laughing at Paul over the resurrection. If paul taught a spirit body resurrection like JWs believe, why would the Greeks have so much of a problem with that? But if Paul taught a physical, corporeal resurrection, like is hinted at in Luke where Jesus eats some fish and has the disciples touch him to see he was not a ghost or a spirit, well it makes better sense than the JW teaching.

Heh. El Oh El. I love Christopher Walken, and Will Farrell. That GIF was my avatar on JWC for a little while, if memory serves. The SNL skit in and of itself wasn't that funny... but it produced a great line "more cowbell" that everybody who is at least 30 would get a kick out of (meaning they'd know the song). Teens probably wouldn't have a clue or get the joke.

As I was typing a reply lightning hit and I lost power.

Everyone knows I had open heart surgery 3 years ago to replace my mitral valve (otherwise I'd be long dead by now).

This June I was diagnosed with bilateral radial palsy... meaning my hands and fingers don't work right. Before that I was an avid golfer and played guitar in a band called The Siege Perilous.

Married a JW girl at 20. Divorced at 31. Have a new girl who is absolutely wonderful but we're 300 miles away from each other and neither of us has a car. :(

These days most of my time is spent trying to get Temporary Assistance and social security benefits, posting and reading on JWD by hovering my hands over the keyboard and dropping them hoping my pointer finger hits the right keys (and begging Simon to increase my posting limits, I'm still only given 25 a day), and reading books (I'm on Jarhead now, next is a biography of Henry Rollins). I'm also a lucid dreamer, but usually don't sleep a lot, and that lightning must've hit something big cause there's loud sirens, my cable is out (so I had to dialup via AOL... slower than a turtle, and my firefighter neighbors just sped off.

...two ladies park at the entrance of my driveway (thereby blocking my egress), get out of their mommi-van, and approach me smiling.. i don't know either of them.. the elder gal asks me if i'd be interested in learning what will happen 'in the end times'.. i am dressed for the courtroom, carrying a bunch of documents related to litigation against the watchtower in california and texas.

when i turn to respond, several of my draft documents slide out of my daytimer and (spat!

) on the driveway.

I agree with Little Toe very amusing.

Off topic, my neighbors asked to use my driveway to park their cars, as they have 4 and there's no overnight parking allowed after November 1st, so I said sure. Now if any JWs are around they'll think I'm home.

I hope he's not sentenced until a jury decides he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. What if his conscience bothered him and he put an end to these secret trysts with these girls' boyfriends, and so the girls concocted a story about him engaging in sexual congress with them? Innocent before being proved guilty, I say. He admits to two encounters, but there's 27 counts against him. Let's let the law decide before we condemn him to the valley of Hinnom.

Narcotic painkillers can give a person heightened awareness, energy, and ability to do things normally impossible. I know, I've taken my share of hydrocodone/norco. Even if CTR was a user, so what? So was Sherlock Holmes.

i'm in need of some information about this very interesting religion.

1.sacred writings.

2.holidays and rituels (dates if possible).

That's a lot of research and reading you have to do. I'll boil your queries down to simple answers from my perspective:

1.Sacred Writings

Lots exist. The New Testament, the apocryphal and gnostic writings, the Tanakh, the Qu'ran, the Hindu Vedas, the Tao de Ching and other Chinese writings, etc. Take your pick. All constructs of the human mind IMO and not having anything to do with any gods.

2.Holidays and Rituels (dates if possible)

Look at your calendar. Usually important societal holiadys are mentioned at the appropriate day. Then look 'em up in wikipedia or any encylopedia.

3.Where do Jehovah's Witnesses meet to perfrom religious ceremonies.

They call their churches Kingdom Halls. Large conventions are performed either at halls built by JWs or arenas rented by JWs (like convention centers or sports stadiums).

4.Who is the god?

None exist. JWs think the ancient semitic tribal mountain god Jehovah is the one true one. The Bible also uses the word "god" for inferior people or spirits, but they are personages of power and influence. Jehovah is the only god to be worshipped: monotheism. JWs reject the trinity.

5.What do you think about life after death?

There is no life after death.
