Yes the rumors are true, I am going to spend four or five days with Joannadandy and Eyegirl. LOOK OUT MINNESOTA! Maybe Rand McNally will have to change all their maps once we're through with the land.

Bethel: Pathway to Apostasy
by Black Man inat the 'big house' you go either one of two ways, company man or apostate.
i think for many that went, it demystified the whole organization and you saw firsthand that there wasn't holy spirit influencing anything - only the muses of sheltered, out-of-touch old men and political bureaucrats.
i work in the corporate world and i saw just as much if not more politics in bethel.

When I was 14 I visited NYC Bethel on a bus group of congregation folk (still have a funny picture of me in front of the WATCHTOWER sign in downtown Brooklyn). I thought it was so stupid I had to wear a tie. Every worker I saw there had a scowl on his face. It convinced me I'd never work in a place where everybody obviously hated it. High point of my visit was walking the streets of NY and seeing drug deals go down right in front of me, and going to the top of the Empire State Building and puking over the side.

I never wrote a DF letter but those are basically the words my parents used when I got DF'd. It _is_ a good feeling isn't it?

That certainly was an interesting chat. I've always enjoyed the latino way of expression.
I think a WT of 2004 didn't come right out and say the UN was no longer the scarlet colored wild beast but it suggested it could be any institution and we really don't know until it manifests itself. Wish I had it quoted for ya, Eddie. Maybe somebody will. Would make F.W. Franz roll over in his grave.

Young People Ask: How Can I Make Real Friends?
by seattleniceguy inmy friends were doing some spring cleaning the other day and they found an old copy of this video.
for grins, we decided to toss back a coke and whiskey or two and watch it.
it was a blast!

That's interesting. I never knew such a video existed. In a 1994 D.C. drama I played the part of "Peter", an aspiring college student who was convinced by a slightly older and wiser (i.e. more spiritual) JW that college is for suckers and putting off baptism is a big mistake. By that time I was 4 years out of high school and had wished I had gone to college, but I did the thing because it was fun, and I got to wear normal street clothes to the convention which in a youthful way made me feel cool.
Also, I wonder if that video is on the WT website....... gonna head over there to check...

What Was Your Greatest "Privilege" In The Organization?
by minimus inwas it being able to join the theocratic ministry school?
being a regular pioneer?
"handling microphones"?
-
Cygnus
My greatest privilege was nearly getting into a fistfight with an "unbelieving mate" who used to drive into the KH parking lot when I had "parking lot duty" when he tried to play bumper cars with the friends' parked cars and otherwise act like a maniac.
Other than that I handled sound, ran mics, coordinated the stage, and maybe placed 3 books in my entire life. But I was always invited to parties. :D

I've avoided the elders so far...but could this all change on SATURDAY?
by logansrun inwell, it has been almost three years since i silently and dramatically vanished from the world of the watchtower.
moving an hour away from my congregation's territory and not answering phone calls was all i needed to avoid having to wear the letter "a" on my chest.
but, that could all change this saturday.

Brad, I would definitely go. They'll be on your turf, so to speak. So I wouldn't worry about it. Half of them are probably jealous of you anyway.
Odrade, a lot of what you said about your dad brought back some memories (shudder). Except I remember a time once when the reader for the WT didn't show up so they asked me to do it, and my dad happened to be visiting my cong. Well a few minutes later they came back and said I couldn't do it 'cause I was wearing a sport coat and tie with slacks, not a suit. LOL my dad was so pissed. So at least he had a little balance.
When I faded, the elders came after me three years later. I didn't care about being DF'd. They told me my family would have to stop talking to me and I laughed at them 'cause I knew that wouldn't happen. Stupid elders. I could go on and on but I don't want to hijack this thread so I'll just say have a good time. :)

My favorite bands/artists:
Jethro Tull, Rush, Smashing Pumpkins, Joe Satriani, Ron Hawkins (Lowest of the Low, Rusty Nails, and solo stuff - great Canadian music), and the recent William Shatner record will knock your socks off.

An Elder Told Me.... Many To Be Disfellowshipped Soon...
by Doubtfully Yours inan elder told me the book is jehovah's latest provision to cleanse his organization.. he said soon all people that have drifted, inactives, and others baptized and not complying with the biblical mandates for a jw, will be visited and given an option to shape up or ship out.. he said that if the person refuses the help offered by the congregation they'll be notified of the date of disfellowshipping and given time to appeal the decision.. he was so happy stating that this way jehovah's organization was preparing for the final clean-up before armageddon.
he sounded so convincing that it almost made perfect sense what he was saying.
i got goose bumps listening to his reasoning.. dy

This reminds me of how 7-8 years ago I was told of the atrocities found in the FLOCK book....... and I didn't see them or anything that I didn't really already know. The WT and KM has been pretty clear about how to treat inactive ones, I don't think you'll see them get DF'd. If anything they'll do what they did to me and print an article about how biblical it is to snitch on people.

JW's are not Christians
by Witch Hunter ini've noticed on this forum that a fair few ex-jw's still refer to the members of the non-christain cult known as the jehovah's witneses as christians.
im aware that current members may wrongly believe they are in fact christians because the organisation leads them to believe they are serving god.
but for ex-members who are awake to the false teachings of this non-christain organisation, i thought they may be more prudent in their choice of words, and not refer to them as christians.

I honestly don't see how anybody could attend tonight's JW Memorial, not take a bite out of the cracker and sip the win, and call themselves a Christian.
