A person can be homosexual and be a JW. They just have to remain celibate. I'd be willing to bet there are tens of thousands of those throughout the world.

34Homosexuality and how should a JW or 'Study' view it?
by AnitainFlorida ini am sure the subject is not very descriptive and for this i appologize.. i would like some assistnace in biblical references that say how homosexuality should be viewed and how one should deal with another that is homosexual or that has homosexual friends even if they non study's daughter says she and this other girl aren't 'doing anything'.
i know this is long winded, so i will just now finally get to the point.. i am a grandmother that has recently taken back up studying after a 1-2 year pause.
when i had first started studying, my daughter was also studying and we had our study togeather as i was staying with she and her husband because she had medical trouble and could not care for their 3 children when he was gone to work.

Had a JW in yahoo chat the other day try to defend the 1914 chronology. He quoted the Insight book where it says historical scholars pin down the 539 date as the end of the Babylonian rule and when I asked him why do historical scholars also say 586/7 for the fall of Jerusalem and Zedekiah's death he said YOU CAN'T TRUST HISTORIAL SCHOLARS THEY ALSO SAY MAN EVOLVED FROM MONKEYS. Most JWs simply don't care and thats why a few years ago the WT said chronology is not the main reason we believe we're in the last days, Jesus' composite sign is. I think they themselves know it's indefensible.

The New World Translation and Honesty
by Little Bo Peep inafter having researched my beliefs of 45+ years, finding so much was really different than what the bible context really taught, i decided to "read" the bible for for the first time to see what it really was saying, taking off the "blinders" of the wt.
i began reading the greek scriptures first.
i used the new world translation, knowing if we were to ever reach our grown children, i would need to use that translation to prove anything.

A lot of these added words or changes in syntax are the translators' perogative if they have legitimate basis for doing so. I think in a lot of case the NWT does (for instance, adding "other" in Colossians 1)...... but "torture stake" is pretty pitiful.

JW Mother Mourns Pope's Death

she mentioned even though he is different (regarding religion) he is still human and death is always something painful.
i overheard her discussion with my grandfather and she said he did good things and jehovah can grant him resurrection.

Good for your mom. I think my mom might feel the same. They are good, caring people in spite of being JWs. I am too young to remember the previous pope, but I recall a lot of what this pope did. I felt sorry for him that in his last days he could barely speak. But at least he looked death square in the face and said "come on, gimme what ya got" and that's more than I can probably say for myself.

Advantages to being a JW
by MGonzales ini'd say that the biggest advantage of being a jw is that you learn the bible.
growing up a jw (never baptized), i had many friends (mostly catholic) who didn't even know where most books of the bible were even located.
jws really do learn and study the bible and this knowledge becomes very helpful once you start looking at the bible more objectively and not with wts binders.

There are lots of racist JWs. I have never heard more racist jokes than told by white elders. Don't kid yourselves.
And the TMS _used_ to be a good tool. People used to really prepare good talks and the audience would listen. Today it is something to get over with.
All my friends know I am the Bible expert. Sometimes that's a little disconcerting when meeting girls at the bar. For instance, "well that last statement makes you sound like Balaam's ass!" Then you have to explain in and the girls just give you weird looks and shuffle down to some different open real estate.

Bethel: Pathway to Apostasy

i think for many that went, it demystified the whole organization and you saw firsthand that there wasn't holy spirit influencing anything - only the muses of sheltered, out-of-touch old men and political bureaucrats.
i work in the corporate world and i saw just as much if not more politics in bethel.

When I was 14 I visited NYC Bethel on a bus group of congregation folk (still have a funny picture of me in front of the WATCHTOWER sign in downtown Brooklyn). I thought it was so stupid I had to wear a tie. Every worker I saw there had a scowl on his face. It convinced me I'd never work in a place where everybody obviously hated it. High point of my visit was walking the streets of NY and seeing drug deals go down right in front of me, and going to the top of the Empire State Building and puking over the side.

That certainly was an interesting chat. I've always enjoyed the latino way of expression.
I think a WT of 2004 didn't come right out and say the UN was no longer the scarlet colored wild beast but it suggested it could be any institution and we really don't know until it manifests itself. Wish I had it quoted for ya, Eddie. Maybe somebody will. Would make F.W. Franz roll over in his grave.
