Thanks for posting that statement, GJW. Amazing how they can celebrate young people who died from refusing blood in an Awake magazine and yet feign sorrow for this woman's death. C'mon Watchtower, if you so afraid of the big bad beast and the media and spoke the truth, you're HAPPY she died "faithful." Where in the statement is any mention of Jesus' and his promise of resurrection? It's obvious to me they in their heart of hearts don't believe that crap either. Edited to add: I sent an email to the address provided in the statement: Where in your Statement Regarding the Death of a Mother in Landau/Isar do you mention this sister's resurrection hope? How can you celebrate the deaths of youths in a '94 Awake! and then put forth your feigned sorrow for this woman's death? Who do you consider more powerful, the "Superior Authorities" as NOW understood by your religion, or Jehovah God? This is just another example of why the mass exodus from Watchtowerism is occurring and why most thinking people can see right through your insipid and immoral religion.

I'm surprised at the lack of comments. Maybe none of you watched this show. Caty and I watched it religiously., the only show that was 'must see TV' for us. Themes of death, betrayal, self-doubt and pity, especially coming from our background... well I would have thought there'd be a few fans here. The HBO DB is just full of people speculating on plot lines and trying to fill in holes. I was hoping for a more deeper conversation.

by Gill inwell, today i began to think there really was no point in trying to argue a point in a reasonable reasoning way with a jw, after all, there's non so blind as those who will not see.. i saw my, mother, again and we had a humungous scrap on the wtbts.
she wanted to know if i expected her to return to the rcatholic church as that's the religion she originated in.
she told me how she had been badly beaten by the nuns and that on one occasion when she had missed class and gone to the cinema instead she had received such a severe clobbering that she could barely sit down for a week.

The title of your post is right, we are all going to die. But some people I think are better served dying with faith that Jesus/Abuwabu/Whoever will make their life meaningful. That's all any of us really want. JWs think they found it, it's tangible, you can grasp it and hold it close forever. It won't happen and sometimes I want to shake some JWs I know and say YOU DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME LEFT, WHO KNOWS HOW LONG ANY OF US HAVE. Sorry, I'm just in a sad mood today.

It's totally off-topic and many here have heard this, but I guess once some 25 years or so it was decided that everybody wear at the minimum a jacket and tie at morning worship or breakfast or whatever they did at Bethel and Fred Franz was against it so the next day he wore a ratty old t-shirt that said something like: "WHERE THE HELL IS [some town] NEBRASKA?" or the like.

Like many have said, it was a sad ending, the last 5 minutes they showed everybody grow old and die. ruth of course went first and george was a mess. in fact the whole episode was people crying. keith was about 50 when he died, opening the back of a Brink's security truck and taking 4 bullets to the body. brenda's death was sad cause it seemed the most unexpected, she just dropped dead on a couch, her head falling back. david died at some party outside wher kids were throwing a football around and he saw keith catch the ball and turn and smile at him then he fell over backwards in his chair and died. claire died peacefully in her bed at 102, like the old woman in Titanic, which was a let-down, maybe Alan Ball could have done something different than copy that movie. rico and vanessa were so happy about their new business, next thing you see of rico he's an old man in a nursing home and falls on the floor dead. i thought it was unnecessary and the first 60 minutes were ok but i'd have rewritten the last 15 minutes and not shown everybody old and dying.
