Not personally, but I know of an elder that had a "fatal attraction" thing going on with one married sister.
And there is this sister in my parents cong. that is always flirting shamelessly with the elders, ms, and any other married guy she likes. My mother hates her gutts!!

did you ever have a crush on a married brother or sister, and they probably knew about it, just by your actions?

Stupid "Bible" Prophecies The Watchtower & "Slave" Fed Us
by minimus inbible writers must be rolling in their graves if they saw how their writings were taken apart and mangled by the "spirit directed organization".
the watchtower prides itself in getting ones 'tasteful spiritual food, nutritional", even!
what stupid understandings have the witnesses believed in over the years that show you they certainly do not have the "truth"?

How about:
The book of Revelation is symbolic.
But the part that names 144,000 as the only ones going to heaven is literal.
But the part that says that the 144,000 are all descendents of the sons of Jacob (12,000 of tribe of Reuben, 12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin, etc), therefore making the chosen ones all israelites and not leaving space for other nationalities as part of the annoited, is symbolic. -

They Tell The Elders One Thing And The Others Something Else!
by minimus inthe organization is so deceitful that they will tell the watchtower readers that the elders should deal mercifully with wrongdoers but in private letters or correspondence thru the circuit overseers, they will tell the elders not to allow "leaven" within their midst.
they say it's better to disfellowship and see whether someone's truly repentant afterwards rather than taking a chance to contaminate the congregation.......another example of their being two-faced is that they will tell the brotherhood not to buy homes, cars, vacations, etc.
unnecessarily as it could signal materialism, yet the watchtower society spends more money on real estate than we could ever possibly imagine but it's ok for them..........can you think of other things that show that the organization is hypocritical??

How about giving a speech about not allowing teenagers to attend their proms, homecoming or any kind of school functions/dances but allowing their own to go?

JWs and depression
by jstalin inquestion:.
it seems that there is a high rate of depression amongst jws.
does the jw religion cause depression, or are depressed people drawn to the jws?.
-
divejunkie
I think the high rate of depression has to do a lot with frustration (personal, professional, sexual, etc)that many people feel, depravation, constant feelings of guilt, the repressed anger, etc. that a lot of people feel at one point or another but refuse or are afraid to admitting or even acknowledge on account that "we are not supposed to feel that way".

by lucifer inare you supposed to enjoy field service?

I hated it. Always. With a passion.
The only time it was a little enjoyable for me was if I got paired with a friend, so we could just talk crap and joke around in the mean time. Otherwise, blaah!:( -

Circuit Overseer Celebrities?
by Delboy222 ini am a active jw, but one question i would like to know is why do these 'men' get treated as superstar celebrities when they attend the congregation?.
for as long as i can remember, there seems to be a 'buzz of excitement' when it is announced that he and his wife are due to visit.
what is so special about them?.

One of my biggest beefs with the organization, way before I decided to fade away, was precisely what you are talking about.
All my life I was inside the organization as the daughter of one very reputable and known elder. And I remember 25 or 30 years ago the CO's and DO's were humble and friendly, and with great senses of humor. They would come and it was a big deal because everybody had such a good time.
But as time passed, I noticed the shift towards a "cast society". Only some people are worthy. And many of these CO's and DO's think the sun doesn't shine unless they wake up in the morning. That's not mentioning their wives - stuck up, arrogant, nosy and bossy like nobody's business. They come in and everyone has suck up to them. If you don't have a title or are the wife of a "suit" - don't bother, they don't even take the time to meet you.
These are a few of the "diva/celebrity" demands I've seen first hand:
*only be paired in service with pioneers, elders or ms
*making special demands with the food - and I'm not talking about health issues, you know "I'm allergic, or diabetic or high blood presure so I can't eat this or that" - that's reasonable. I'm talking about:"I only eat Chiquita brand bananas" or (you are not going to believe this one)"We are sick or lasagna, all the sisters think they make the best lasagna, so if you're planning of doing lasagna we are going some other place) this was actually said from the platform, etc.
*controlling who can be invited to lunch with them at someone else's house
*telling lunch hosts to get a babysitter elsewhere during the time they were going to be at their house, cause they don't like to be disturb by kids when they are eating -

One that I always wanted to ask is:'
"Would you be willing present the receipts that justify the $300.00 + in expenses that you claim to the congregation for a week? Because it seems too much given the fact that all your expenses are covered by the WT and your meals are provided by the congregation." -

Do you join other religions to fill a void, or is it real to you?
by free2beme ini think this is a realistic question, as we were all so into the witness religion, in every part of our lives.
i can see where people would feel the need to replace that with something, as they would need to complete the missing pieces of their life.
i admit, when i first left the religion, i started attending local churches and even went to a bible study from other churches.

I feel just like JH.
One thing JW's do really well is to point out all the absurdities and bull in the other religions (at least the major competition), so I see them all on the same plane - only that now JW's top the list. Organized religion is nothing but some dude or dudes manipulating others for their own personal gain by using the human need to believe in something.
Well, they got their claws on me for most of my life. I'm never giving that power to anyone else.
I believe that Jesus' teachings of moral value is all you need to be a good person: show love, kindness, honesty to others and take care of your family. -

In my introductory post I mentioned that I had complications during my second pregnancy.
I was in my 23 week of pregnancy when I had a sudden 2nd degree abruption (basically the plascenta detached itself from the uterus) and that caused that I went into serious bleeding for several hours. It was almost certain that it would push me into a very premature labor. If that happened the baby was likely to undergo several surgeries and need blood. Of course, if they couldn't stop the bleeding I was going to need some too.
Because I refused to take blood, the hospital sort of accused me of endagering the baby. And they submitted an order to court for the hospita or state to acquire custody of the baby the moment he was born to be able to give him blood if needed.
So there I am, extremely week, very frightened and with the knowledge that if my baby was born at that time, not only he was unlikely to survive, but he wouldn't even be "mine".
Thank God and my wonderful doctor, they managed to stop the bleeding and kept me going with my pregnancy until my 36 week. When the baby was finally born, he was in delicate condition and in the NICU but didn't need blood, so we got custody back from the state.
Throughout all this - only once an elder came by the hospital - the day of the hearing to make sure I didn't budge. The rest of the pregnancy and hospitalization of my baby, not one of them came by. So much for support under tribulation, huh?
