was going to be before i even read it.
this topic made me laugh at loud - last week my dad told me that "God doesn;t care about philantrophy (sp?)" and that it didn't matter what good things I may do or be involved with, I am on the road to destruction. (and my kids, but that would be antoher thread!)
i laughed out loud - but his use of the word was kinda strange. Now I see where he got it from!

(reminds me of the hojos we used to stay at for assemblies :d) i was raised as a witness, baptized at the age of 14 due to my father's constant pressuring.
i'm in my mid-30s now and i stopped attending meetings three years ago.
enjoy the opportunity to learn what a part of you is curious about and the other part has dismissed - the Truth about the truth and the why - the specific stuff- that will solidify your decision to give up the "good parts" it's scary but it's like reading your favorite book for the first time, or the first time you go to what becomes a favorite holiday destination -

oops, well i had intended to post a message along with this new topic and my fingers were faster than my brain (need more coffee .
well, i suppose it's like preaching to the converted; me obtaining this book, but i guess it's one of those things i just needed to do to finalize everything.. i know there are countless topics on ray franz' book.
but to finally pick it up, i feel like: 'i can hardly wait to read it'.. before, i more or less figured: 'i am out of the wtbts, so why bother?'.
it's on my bookshelf - the main one that you can see from the front door or any of the more comfortable chairs in the living room. i have often wondered if my jw family has noticed it. When I see the "prefectly fanned mags" on their coffee and end tables when we visit I am often tempted to pull it out when they drop by

in this thread i mentioned having a long chat with an elder last summer.
i didn't realize i had never posted the story, so here it is.. last summer (when i went to buy my new camera lens) i ran into one of my favorite jws at the photography shop.
he was buying a camera bag for his new dslr, and i saw him, went up and greeted him, hugged him.
or participate in numerous other "worldly" things but they do seem to be ok with committing adultery... .
maybe for the sole purpose of getting out of a marraige, who knows... i didn't think i was ever that bad, my kids say while there were moments that i was bad - he always "one upped me" - made my behavior justified.. in any case i am sure everyone here knows that jw's are a religious group of people that knock on your doors many days.
mostly on the weekends when your trying to sleep in or participate in some "indoor sports", lol... .
Good for you!!!! You know - probably you always knew it was aload, but now you are ready to admit you know!!! The truth about the truth is terrible, isn't it. There are many families that have experienced what you have - move on, move on, move on.
You sound like an incredible woman and I can't wait to see what you and your girls do in the next year(s).
Find a professional to talk to - for both you and the girls, keep writing (you're very good and it is helpful!) and move forward.

my understanding is that if armageddon comes when you are dfed, you are dead.
of course there is the standard jw caveat for that "only j can judge".
my dfed brother was committed early this morning to the psych ward.

I spoke with my parents and brother today and I am unsure at this point who is more psycotic
the good thing is that the psyciatrist want to meet with my bothers parents and my sister and I
bad news is now that he is stable he is no longer committed and is able to check out of the hospital if he wishes
