They aren't educcated so the only chance they have at making any real money and having some free time is to have their own business. Also I think that they feel they are better than anyone else so answering to someone who isn't a JW is probably hard for them. That was a lot of my dad's reason for going in business for himself.

Why do JWs seem to only want to own their own business?
by Medic!? inperhaps this is a thing just near my congo or circuit.
it seemed like so many jws were either unemployed or self-employed.
they were always changing jobs.

The best decision of my life
by YoursChelbie inwas leaving the watchtower society the best decision of your life?
the benefits have been so great, my peace of mind has been great--better than i thought i would feel on the "other side.
" after deprogramming my mind from the cult mindset everything seems clearer, brighter.

DOES ANYONE STILL NOT CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS???
by chuckyy injust wondering if anyone still does not celebrate xmas since leaving jws.....or like me do you think"to hell with it", and join in the festivities.
if you do celebrate it, do you still have pangs of guilt for celebrating this "pagan" festival???.

I am now a Christian so of course I celebrate it. It makes me feel so alive and normal for once.
I am wearing christmas tree earrings and red and green bells around my neck. I have a christmas tree in my house and every table/mantle/bar has christmas decorations on it. There are presents under the tree. I make candy nearly every day to take to someone. I am having a christmas party next weekend. It all seems like a big birthday party for Christ. I think about the reason for the season all of the time and am thankful that he was born so he could die for my sins.

Judical Committee/ Plea for Reinstatement help
by livingalie inhello to all it has been awhile since my last post but i have been lurking .i just wanted to be careful since i have been trying to be reinstated.
to give you a little background in short after i left bethel (1993-1999) in 1999 i got married to a local sister from new york city ( brooklyn).i worked at different jobs but the last job i had was with the city of ny after 9/11 i lost the job .i told my wife about a job down south ,i told her that i would go down try the job out and if it looks like a good fit and it would work out she should move down in a few months .the job was going great things were looking up i told her to moved down but she hated the town said it was to small nothing to do but the great thing about it was that her job was in the town also all she would have to do was just transfer no job hunting at all .
my wife would not move this went on for the next 2 years she said she was coming down then she said she need to finish up something at work .

Its hard to do ... but my only advice is to start a new life. That's what I did.
I got a divorce, left behind parents, long time friends, 36 family members... found a new husband that actually loves me, got new friends, his family, new town, new religion. It was the best thing I ever did. I feel so free and the people love me unconditionally.

That Hitler is going to take a nice dirt nap forever but "when" I live to see armageddon, I am going to die a horrific punishing death at armageddon becauese I didn't want to belong to a hypocritical religion.

The Society's more permissive stance on blood fractions could kill my Mum!
by nicolaou inwe had my mum and dad down for a meal at the weekend.
me and mum have a kind of 'unspoken truce' going on where neither of us raise an issue in conversation that will lead to a discussion on any jw sensitive topics.
it's not perfect and it doesn't always work but at least we are maintaining a relationship of sorts.. anyway, knowing that this is the 'blood card' time of year i did take the chance on asking mum just what her personal stand on blood and fractions would be.

I wouldn't sign the last one either for being confused. I understood the decision and what we were deciding but Biblically it didn't make any sense. I thought that either you should took blood or not -- I didn't like the grey areas.
Thank goodness I got out of that mess!!

JW dress fads
by rassillon ini was just looking at the revelation book and some of the illustrations reminded me of some of the dress fads which i have seen growing up as a jw.
what fads did you see at the halls?.
the one that got me to thinking was the sun dress on page 51. .

I can't think of the picture right now you are talking about. I might have to dig mine out when I get home.
I noticed in our hall you couldnt get away with a dress above your ankles so girls started wearing dresses especially tight because you could get away with that easier. And if they mentioned it -- you just say you gained weight..LOL
Its interesting to see how women dress going to church now. They'll wear a skirt just at their knee and a sweater or something. They actually look much more modest and conservative than the JWs were wearing.. only they have more style.. imagine that .. lol
