I'M GETTIN' NERVOUS!
by Mary inmy surgery (hysterectomy) is scheduled for this friday and i'm getting really nervous.........nervous that the cancer may have spread, nervous about the pain, nervous about what i'm going to go through mentally, physically and emotionally afterwards (i guess i'll be going through the change of life real quick).
i've done pretty good so far: am trying to keep positive, eating right, exercising (i've lost 15 lbs!
), meditating, and i'm going on tuesday to someone who does reiki (i think that's how you spell it).

((Mary))
I've had 9 surgeries in the last 20 years, including 3 left hand reconstructions, one sinus (deviated septum) and 4 left knee reconstructions (the last being a total joint replacement). All said and done, the surgeries weren't all that bad...challenging, but not bad.
My very best wishes for your swift and total recovery.

TO LURKING JW ELDERS- THE LIST
by jst2laws inhere is the current list of former (some present) elders .
for over a year i lurked as an elder on h2o and this board.
for some time i feared i was the most evil appointed servant in the history of the organization for lurking here.

LOL, thanks (?) jst2 for promoting me!
I was a pioneer, Bethelite. MS and 40-yr JW, but the Holy Spirit never quite saw clear for me to be an elder.
Too much independent thinking!
Point well taken re: that there are so many on this board that have been so deeply involved for so many years. Newcomers will know that they are not alone.

WTS Prevarication
by onacruse infriday i was talking with a friend who has posted many times on this board, and he told me this is one of his "favorite" passages:.
job 13:.
7 "are you defending god by means of lies and dishonest arguments?.

Grits, "The Bible really has a great way of saying things, doesn't it? I like it's straight-forwardness."
Yes, and what gets to me most, and is why I started this thread, is the patently obvious hypocrisy of the WTS in the things they say...and the things they say vs. the things they do.
Here's another:
"Every violation of truth is not only a sort of suicide in the liar, but is a stab at the health of human society."

Friday I was talking with a friend who has posted many times on this board, and he told me this is one of his "favorite" passages:
Job 13:
7 "Are you defending God by means of lies and dishonest arguments?
8 You should be impartial witnesses, but will you slant your testimony in his favor? Will you argue Gods case for him?
9 Be careful that he doesnt find out what you are doing! Or do you think you can fool him as easily as you fool people?
10 No, you will be in serious trouble with him if even in your hearts you slant your testimony in his favor.
11 Doesnt his majesty strike terror into your heart? Does not your fear of him seize you?
12 Your statements have about as much value as ashes. Your defense is as fragile as a clay pot."(New Living Translation)
We were talking specifically about SilentLambs, but this passage covers SO MUCH other behavior by the WTS and damage due to their policies.
Reminds me of another couple of passages:
Matthew 12:37 "For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." (NIV)
1 Timothy 5:24 "Remember that some people lead sinful lives, and everyone knows they will be judged. But there are others whose sin will not be revealed until later." (NLT)

Would the WT society disfellowship Jesus?
by ELON14 inabout three weeks before i handed in my letter of disassociation (two months ago) two elders from my congregation came to my door, for the first time since my son's death (which happened 8 months earlier).i knew it wasn't a special love for me or my family that suddenly motivated them to come.for few weeks prior to that visit i was sharing the new truth about the 'truth' that i was discovering with any listening ear.
now it was obvious to me that these two elders had been sent by the body of elders to hear it themselves so it can be used against me...and hear they did.
the 'poor' elders had to stand there (they refused to come in) and listen to it all.

Matt 24...
48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, My master is staying away a long time,
49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of.
51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.I would say...the Society is going to find out how much fun it is to be on the RECEIVING side of a judicial committee.

"MY LIFE IS RUINED BECAUSE I WAS A WITNESS...
by minimus ini know of so many people that blame everything on the fact that they were witnesses.have a lousy job?
it's because you were a witness.
angry over anything?

I don't blame anybody (including myself) for anything...ANYMORE.
I used to, all the time. That's over. Done with. finite
The past (including the minute I post this reply) is what has made me what I am now, and I have the keys in my hand to make my future whatever I can make it to be.

Would you throw a pebble at a boulder
by kenpodragon inwould you throw a pebble at a boulder.
in my contact with my witness family i am often confronted with several subjects that make me want to bite my lip and say to myself "don't bother!
" as i realize they would never listen to my thoughts anyway.

"Change begets change. Nothing propagates so fast. If a man habituated to a narrow circle of cares and pleasures, out of which he seldom travels, step beyond it, though for never so brief a space, his departure from the monotonous scene on which he has been an actor of importance would seem to be the signal for instant confusion. . . . The mine which Time has slowly dug beneath familiar objects is sprung in an instant; and what was rock before, becomes but sand and dust."

Stumping bible questions for JW's
by Dawn ini have a friend who is studying with the jw's right now.
he's a very open minded guy and has been interested in hearing what i have to say on the matter.
he has seen the dateline show (i taped it for him) - and i've shown him some info about the history.

Jo. 2:19 is another stumper...Jesus raising himself from the dead. As I recall, there have been only a couple of convoluted WTS attempts to explain this, and those attempts were made many many years ago.
Also, Jo. 14:14...praying to Jesus. The Kingdom Interlinear shows the extra "me" in the Greek text (translate "If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it."), but the NWT omits it. Again, there have been a couple of QfR's on this, mainly arguing that other Scriptures (supposedly) justify ignoring the extra "me."
However, in the main, I tend to agree that doctrinal argumentation has limited value...it's the human dimension of WTS policies and abuses that would, imho, really catch most people by their heart strings. Weighed in the scales, all the "correct" doctrine in the world doesn't count for spit against the agony of cutting off lifelong friends and family blood ties.
