Biker: Hehe....click your heels together three times and say "There's nothing like math, there's nothing like algebra, there's nothing like calculus."
Lilacs: Here's another factoid...based on straight-line analysis of the number of "anointed" in 1935 (when the door was closed lol), using standard mortality rates, there should only be about 200-300 partakers left. So why has the number held steady at about 8,000 for the last 10 years?
PS: Biker, if you need help with your math classes, you know who to call.....MathBusters Craig

So how do you explain
by plmkrzy ini asked this q in another thread but thought the question might fit in better over here in bible research .
thinking out loud again.
it doesn't seem to matter what bible you read, unless you're looking for discrepancies in translation it's not easy to just abandon the big picture.

Careful, Plum, before your brain explodes!
I still believe in 2 things: There is a God, and the Bible is His inspired word. I was raised with these convictions, and in spite of the disappointments of my former religion, I still believe in, and am comfortable with, these 2 tenets.
OTOH: There is a lot of latitude for interpretation. I believe there was a literal Garden of Eden, but I can't prove it. I want the earth to be restored to a paradise, but I can only hope for it.

Xena: You have hope, one of the "three remaining things" Paul mentions (1 Cor. 13:13) And you have love, the greatest of these three. It is the "faith" part that is perhaps the hardest thing for us to resolve, the being "certain of what we do not see." (Heb 11:1)
conforter: The name of the biblical God is not, and has never been, "Jehovah." If you are so worried about who you worship, at least try to get His name straight.

Too funny! If this was implemented, half the coffee and donut shops in the US would fold for lack of business; laundromats would suddenly have much less reading material; ordinances restricting evening "sales" (read annoyance) calls would need to be enforced...
Remember the old black-and-white "Quota Boards" that were displayed at the front of the KH? Each month's "performance" was right in the face, and God help us if the averages started to drop!
Remember the little "orange sheets" that were passed out at the Circuit Assemblies on Friday night? (Back when CAs were Fri night-Sun night). That was always fun, getting reamed for any little thing that was below the national average.
Sorta like a colonoscopy, sans tranquilizer.

I left in 2000 (for the 2nd time).
On average, 1% of JWs are df'd every year. If we take an average of 6,000,000 dubs over the last 5 years, that means approx 300,000 have left. On average, about 40% of df'd are rei'd each year, so 120,000 came back. Net loss = 180,000 over the last 5 years. This doesn't count the number that have gone inactive.
Based on stats for the last 50 years, there are well over 1,000,000 df'd out there, somewhere.

I know that you, among others, have done a LOT of such research. I would like to review more, but wading through 450,000 posts would be a bit much, even if I had a particular subject for a search.
Perhaps you could help a newcomer like me by posting back a list of links to your "Top 10" researches?
Thanks!

I was a reg pub at 6 years old, decided (yes, a very deliberate decision) to go to Bethel when I was 8 years old, and was baptized at 10 years old (in 1962). I spent the next 10 years focused totally on that goal, nothing else mattered. Bethel was not what I had imagined, left well short of the (then) 4 year minimum. Spent the next 30 years trying, somehow, anyhow, to recapture the glorious vision.
I am just now beginning to see how my emotional and social development virtually ceased when I was still prepubescent. Thanks to you folks, I am beginning to grow again.
HAHA...and now I'm 50! Talk about rescripting....how about you?
