  Our Lives Are Worthless

  i've been in a strange mood lately.

  i keep thinking what difference does anything matter.

  in a few years we will all be dead anyway and anything we did won't amount to anything.

  I agree, and that's exactly what I am doing more of, and more deliberately. Not to be an Epicurean or hedonist, but I've spent so much of my life anticipating the (JW) future, I forgot (never learned) how to enjoy life each day, just for it's own sake.

  If this life IS all there is, then I intend to enjoy it as best I can for the rest of my life. If this life is NOT all there is, well then, my hopes for a happy future need to be based on the happy life I can live now.

  craig sent me plane tickets and i'll be flying up to portland to visit him, i can hardly wait!

  it's going to be a very eventful weekend for us, i'm very excited!.

  Lauren, what a small world it is, eh?

  I've never been in a union. Was a carpenter for 20 years (mostly self-employed), then construction management for the last 10 years. Worked for Hoffman and Baugh, currently for Polygon.

  Maybe I crossed paths with your hubby somewhere at Intel, the Mark Hatfield Federal Courthouse, or the Snake River Correctional Institution?

  Would You Now Feel Uncomfortable Taking Blood?

  now that you know about the truth of the blood doctrine, would you feel, even a little bit uncomfortable agreeing to take a blood transfusion?

  btw, my mother asked me if i would still honor her wishes for refusal of blood.

  i told her that even though my view has changed, i would respect her decision, even if i felt that it was wrong.

  lisaBObeesa, sorry, I should have been more specific...I was referring to artifical insemination with a non-husband's sperm, or a non-wife's egg.

  I can't quote a source (still waiting for my replacement WT CD)...perhaps others can provide?

  allison, you have many questions! Have you checked out our chat room, at the top of the page? You could IM us with your questions...less cumbersome than post-by-post.

  Artificial insemination: Not acceptable to JW's...they consider it equivalent to fornication/adultery;

  Heart transplants (or any transplants): A matter of personal choice...so long as blood transfusions are not involved.

  because this site has taken a survey of past or current elders and posted a list, i think it is important to make it clear that: not one elder was appointed by holy spirit.. current and ex elders are no more special or important than anyone else.

  in fact some are a lot less trustworthy than the average.. .

  on this note i would like to hear from all of you two things:.

  I've only been in this forum for about 3 months, and did no "lurking" before then...just came on board cold turkey. It was a good friend who pointed me in this direction.

  Not if it was autologous. Otherwise, yes. Not because of religious scruples though...simply my choice.

  I am currently listed as the Health Care Representative on my parents' Advance Medical Directive, and I would absolutely honor their refusal of blood transfusions (as JWs). Again, their choice.

  imo, not wrong, not right...just a choice.
