  Good point. Love is always conditional. The WTS has many times clearly stated the same thing about agape. But, since God is agape, then His love must also be conditional.

  Fortunately, there are some in this world who have the distinct pleasure of experiencing a least conditional love, a love based on a genuine mutual understanding, respect, and honor.

  LDH: You dare even describe SixofNine's blather as POETRY? My chipper/shredder makes better sounds.

  Oh, YEAH!!! I never was one for looking at JW or ex-JW sites...looked at H2O a couple of times years ago, that's about it.

  I came to this board because a close friend recommended it. I was nervous at first, but only because I was (and for that matter, still am) so inexperienced with Internet stuff. Sheesh, this is the ONLY board I've ever posted to, and the ONLY chat room I've ever been in. A real Internet virgin.

  It took me about a week, and when I saw how mind-bogglingly real and honest the people here are, I even felt so comfortable as to e-mail Simon and ask that he change my handle from "onacruse" to "CraigM." But slacker Simon (wishing I knew a good Brit term to use here) just ignored me.

  I LOVE THIS FORUM! Thanks to you all, and thanks to you, Simon.

  Does It Bother You Too??

  my sister who is still a jw called me today and was talking to me about my "situation".

  i said to her that i am studing, doing research and trying to find my way and what i believe.. i said how mum said is pleading for me to go back to the meetings and i said to my sister that i cannot make up my own mind if i am at the meetings.

  her reply was "the only way you can is at the meetings because that is where you get holy spirit from.".

  Who is your leader?

  in all religion we are taught to respect a title rather then a person.

  we are educated to look to the meaning behind the title, and to accept that this image is the reflection seen in the men that carry the name.

  this thinking sounds so good when explained, but lacks so much in action.

  This is true, but in retrospect on my first 50 years, my heart would have led me into a LOT fewer pitfalls than following so-called "experts" did. Especially JW experts (now there's an oxymoron for you).

  I'll take heart-odds over brain-odds. And, fwiw, I think Jesus would say essentially the same, considering that the theme of his life was love for and sensitivity to his fellow man.

  I got a promotion today!!!

  this morning our brake technician got [unexpectedly] transferred to another store, and a technician from that store is coming to work at our location.

  nobody was happy with that news, especially rusty (our brake tech).

  he almost quit on the spot, but decided to stay at least for a while.

  My penny's-worth:

  A Paduan's eye caught that BeDuhn is an historian. I think that is very relevant to his evaluation of the KIT. willy_think makes a good observation: BeDuhn says, as quoted in the start of this thread: "Your 'New World Translation' is a high quality, literal translation that avoids traditional glosses in its faithfulness to the Greek." BeDuhn himself fails to make the distinction between KIT and NWT...(or does he? Hmmmm) GinnyTosken's post reveals the same thing. In this respect, imo, he falls into the typical trap of a scholar speaking outside his own area of expertise.

  Buster: I missed welcoming you to the board on Jes's thread, so I will say WELCOME now! fwiw, "old" warriors sometimes may seem eccentric.

  AlanF: Remember, dear friend...it took me many, many years to "learn." Patience is a wonderful virtue.

  On the issue of interlinears: they are no substitute for a basic knowledge of the original languages, a few commentaries, and a couple of good lexicons.
