What films and TV shows couldn't you watch?

what films and tv shows couldn't you watch when you were a witness kid?.

i remmember being banded from watching scooby doo, ghostbusters ,e.t., (some british ones)count duckula, rent a ghost, well basicly anything with ghosts in it.. my parents wouldn't watch any films with much swearing in them, especially the f-word.. which is fair enought.but i don't notice swearing so sometimes i recommend a film without realising its got lots of naughty words.. sometimes a very sensitive brother from the hall would come round to visit, and he would be visably shocked if there was any sex or swearing in a tv programme which often made it embarassing when watching tv when he was round.. once when we had some friends round and we got waynes world out on video, a couple of the brothers walked out as they thought it too worldly.

Ghostbuster Movie (but my "JW" mom lost out to my
"worldly" dad decision, when I reasoned that her favorite
movie "Wizard of Oz" had a WIZARD in it. Woot!)

Lord of the Flies-bw version *gee wonder why the society would want to frown on that one...hmmmm* (Dad 4 - Mom 0)

Any books that were from AD&D universe.
Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit (Dad 5 - Mom 2)
Any type of SPORTS program espeacially football. (Dad 6 - Mom 2)

That's all I can remember right now. Reason I put a score down was, even though I got to watch these programs thru my Dad's permission...my mom would hound me with guilt trips. Jeez, imagine telling a 5-10 yr. old that "you're not going to make it in to Jehovah's Kingdome if you watch those programs". I got that a lot.

has mankind condition gotten worse or better since 1914?.

the wt concludes that more people are sufuring more since 1914 because that year would spell trouble that would increase.. a brother giving a public talk a couple of weeks ago said mans life span has not increase any noticible amount even with all the advancement we have made in medicine and so the thought trying to be conveyed was don't trust science.. i know many will eagerly point out the facts.. join the watchtower or you will die.. only jehovah's witnesses have the truth all other religions evil and from the devil.. you must beleive the watchtower or you're going to die a painful death forever, isn't that really good news?.

E.T. -- A Bad Movie for Christians?

i'm pretty excited about the re-release of e.t.

the extraterrestrial, because i distinctly remember not being allowed to see it when i was a child.

as i recall there were too many parallels between the life of e.t.

May 16th 2002, Where are you going to be?

i'll be in line for star wars episode ii: attack of the clones.. i was 7 when star wars came out.

but saw it a month after it was released.

but for empire strikes back, return of the jedi and the phantom menace...i got in opening day.. uuugh!

If you get the EPISODE I DvD and set to the commentary...Lucas stated that TPM was incomplete as will AOTC be incomplete. The prequals I-III will be basically ONE BIG movie. Think of these first 3 as a 9 hour movie.

Pretty much AOTC is going to continue the saga (although it's over a decade later from TPM) and will compliment TPM.

That's my optimistic view of it.

Come May 16th...I may change my view on that.

It's either going to improve the way you look at TPM, or TPM is the biggest toy commercial movie out there. :)~

Ever know a someone, or someone with children who were living with an abusive mate? That mate would beat, slander, and abuse their family? And it was "well known" with other people that this Mate procured this treatment upon the family?

Ever see these people trying to tell the VICTIMS of this relationship to leave...and with the overwhelming evidence of abuse....they dont? They make excuses(due to the verbal/physical submission), for the abusive mate, even to death? Even the children?

Now, put the reasoning of; The Taliban, Jim Jones, Jehovah Witnesses, Moonies etc etc. in to the fray. They get to do what they
want because they are "spirited directed" or..."use the name of God"...or ..."God's channel of communication to all the earth". Hey, what can stop you then? Woohoo! You got "GOD" on your side!
Sure...some are pacifist. They wont put poison in Kool-Aid. Or subject their women to wear burkahs (but enforce no beards, piercings etc.).
They wont do any "violent" action to anyone. Just make them submit to their interpretation thru their literature.

I asked my Mom (a JW) today:
"If I started to go back to the meetings, would the elders tell me to shave my goatee and tell me to remove my tongue piercing?"

She said, "Oh no, it's your choice if you want to have those things".

Is it really? You mean, I can be myself and they wont say a thing? Just smile? I get to go out in service too? How about running the mics up an down the aisle, swirling my little tongue gauge?

Denial, another powerfull tool exploited by Abusers.

according to all the gospels christ rose,resurrection,from the dead.yet the watchtower says christ did,as a spirit creature.and his real body turned to gasses.turning to gasses is not a resurrection.1john 43:3 says,"and every spirit does not confess that jesus christ has come in the flesh,(john1:14)is not of god.and this is the spirit of the antichrist,which you have heard was coming,and is now already in the world.

"2john 7,"for many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess jesus christ as coming in the flesh.this is the deceiver and the antichrist.

I too, have always questioned the WTBTS view on Jesus's ressurection. Better yet, (I presume here since it's the exact wording in the NWT), you use the WTBTS translation of the bible
to bring up a very good point.

How did the ever-so-"spirited directed ones" conclude that Jesus rose in spirit and not the flesh? When it's plain as day, (even in their own bible) it's right there?

Butthen again, coincidentally, only the "annointed" ones can have Jesus as a mediator. Only the Governing Body and few of their "associates" are "spirit-directed". How convienant. How VERY convienant for them to be in such positions.

In essence: A fellow human being telling other people that they are "spirit-directed" and/or "annointed" and others are not. And they convienantly happen to be the only ones "publishing" material to their flock, telling them what "Jehovah" really means. That the rest of the "flock" are in need of this guidance from the "spirit directed" and/or "annointed". Humans can never be wrong, can they?
If they are wrong, they just apply "new light" to the situation...of course this is the "spirited directed" and/or "annointed" point of view of scipture. Again, how darn convienant. And of course, since the rest of christianity is under the influence of Satan, this means that they are right. But, humans are perfect? Right? Again...how convienant that this point of view comes from these "spirit directed" and/or "annointed" ones.

I just guess the rest of us just don't know any better. (sigh)

i would like to ask if any one knows of past cases brought by the member(s) or exmember(s) against the wtbts.

not looking for ohio type "freedom of speech" cases.

I'm starting a new project. I would like to ask if any one knows of past cases brought by the member(s) or exmember(s) against the WTBTS. Not looking for Ohio type "freedom of speech" cases. More of civil liability cases.

I'm curios as to whether or not, plantiff legal counselors used the WT and Awake articles against the WTBTS in these cases. Espeacially concerning "Theocratic Warefare" and the WTBTS definition of a "lie". I wonder if they used it in arguments against the credibility of the WTBTS. Civil court is much more liberal in evidence presentation.

Heck, if the WTBTS doesn't feel that the State, Court, Plantiff and Jury are "entitled" to the truth...could such information be usefull in showing the lack of the WTBTS credibility. Has this information been utilized in such a manner?
