I am being treated by many as disfellowshipped, I know the anger my friend, very well. I say just refer to their own dribble on jw.org under "Do Jehovah's Witnesses Shun Former Members" (i think that is the title). It talks about family bonds and so forth, but it is also about disfellowshipped ones, which you are not! So they are going well beyond their own cult laws by treating you this way. You are not being honored as the head of your household, perhaps you should speak to your C/O. It's their stupid game, might as well play it by their rules. -

Supernatural Tony......the 3rd
by snare&racket ini realised something today.... we all happily accepted something really ridiculous.....something that if worded how i will word it now, we would have rejected as ridiculous, but after a moments thought, would have to concede.. we once followed the governing body because we believed they had supernatural powers.
how ridiculous you may say, no we didn't!
of or relating to things that cannot be explained according to natural laws.

Good point. Goes back to the anchor that is the strongest force in a cult. We belong to the one true religion, and we can only have access through them. -

Phases of Mental Extraction
by freemindfade inin only the short time i have been no longer lurking but also posting, i have discovered some people with situations and reactions very similar to mine.
i guess there are different ways people get out, some do something and are outright shunned, then they may find ttatt and stay out.
but there may be more and more like me, who are 100% mentally out, but for the reason of not losing spouse and family fade.

JWfacts covers that really well under fear and mind control. It's used often in politics. I read it only recently but backs up this very idea, Check it out.
Speech Techniques
In an article titled Persuasion and Brainwashing Techniques Being Used On The Public Today8Dick Sutphen discusses the speech techniques of Politicians and lawyers. These are also common sales techniques, and mimic the structure of a typical public talk at the Kingdom hall and the outline of Watchtower articles.
First, he might generate what is called a "YES SET." These are statements that will cause listeners to agree; they might even unknowingly nod their heads in agreement. Next come the TRUISMS. These are usually facts that could be debated but, once the politician has his audience agreeing, the odds are in the politician's favor that the audience won't stop to think for themselves, thus continuing to agree. Last comes the SUGGESTION. This is what the politician wants you to do and, since you have been agreeing all along, you could be persuaded to accept the suggestion. In the following political speech, you'll find that the first three are the "yes set," the next three are truisms and the last is the suggestion.
"Ladies and gentlemen: are you angry about high food prices? Are you tired of astronomical gas prices? Are you sick of out-of-control inflation? Well, you know the Other Party allowed 18 percent inflation last year; you know crime has increased 50 percent nationwide in the last 12 months, and you know your pay cheque hardly covers your expenses any more. Well, the answer to resolving these problems is to elect me, John Jones, to the U.S. Senate."
A talk at the Kingdom hall is virtually the same. YES SET "Are you tired of the problems in the world? Do you long for an end to crime, violence and death? TRUISMS These are all a product of Satan's system. Aren't we grateful that soon Jehovah will do away with all this suffering? SUGGESTION We must stick close to Jehovah's Organization to enjoy these benefits."
In The True Believer,9 a book on mass movements, Eric Hoffer suggests at least a third of the population are "true believers." They are joiners and followers, people who want to give away their power, looking for answers, meaning, and enlightenment outside themselves. This type of person is "not intent on bolstering and advancing a cherished self, but are those craving to be rid of unwanted self." This type of person is "eternally incomplete and eternally insecure!" and can easily be transformed into fanatics who will gladly work and die for their holy cause whether politics, churches, businesses or social cause groups. Mass movements generally have a charismatic ruler, and a devil. This type of person is unlikely to be reading this site, they don't want to know. Neither am I convinced that this type of person should stop being a Jehovah's Witness. If they do they most likely will become involved in a similar organization that also uses manipulation to force its members into a prescribed way of life.

''Re-examine all you have been told...dismiss what insults your soul.''
by gone for good inthis wonderful walt whitman quote is featured on a page of a fabulous website - www.journeyfree.org.
phd.
marlene winell posts great essays on the destruction and harm caused to those exposed to fundamentalist teaching and tactics, and more importantly, how to support those courageous enough to walk away from an entire worldview fabricated from false truths.. excellent informative reading from an intelligent articulate author .. your observations would be most welcome.

1 Corinthians 11:3
by XBEHERE inrnwt "but i want you to know that the head of every man is the christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn, the head of the christ is god.".
sexism aside, how does the wt/gb explain their absolute power over the sheeples based on this scripture?
where are they located in the model listed in that scrtipture?

Witnesses are like an abused partner in an abusive relationship.
They get the shit beat out of them by the abuser, but they always go back to well they are trying to do the right thing, thats what is important. I think more witnesses than we think now feel these guys are clowns but affectionately look at them like "but they are trying so hard for us".

Great post. Mirrors so many of my feelings. I feel I have said this to family members word for word before
"Truth does not need protecting, it can protect itself. No knowledge is dangerous to what is true as what is true can NEVER be proven otherwise."

I saw and heard something in a Kingdom hall I thought I would never witness!
by HowTheBibleWasCreated inwhen i was a kid i would hear religious songs on tv and start sining them... not knowing they were church songs... one day i started singing the hallelujah song (not sure the exact name of the song) my father quickly gave me a hard slap on the mouth and said if i ever sang that song again he would take his belt off and beat my butt until it was red!.
well fast forward 30 years..... the public speaker was missing today and so tv.jw>org to the rescue.... instead they decided to play the new video about the last hundred years since 1914.. instantly the hall was filled with the exact same song i was punished for!
yes a church song filled the hall for almost 5 minutes as we watch br.

Nevermind. Found it. They forgot to mention "too bad Rutherford and the rest ruined it and made it a mainstream cult." Naive. -

Anyone have a link to what we are talking about here so I can assault my auditory senses?
