What happens within the JW organisation?
by Sir cid fatos inhey guys.
i don't know if you guys all know (depends how big this website is) that i have some jw friends.
i'm interested in their belief (luckily no desire to belief it :p) because it's kind of a mystery what really happens in a jw organisation.

And to add to wannabefree's correct statements, its a bait and switch. The bait is love and positive stuff, but when you are in all the way, thats it, the cult stuff takes over. Do some research on these to models B.I.T.E if you want to know what goes on, thats a good description of what happens once you are in. Aldo F.O.G. this is the one that keeps you on a treadmill once you get in. Fear. Obligation Guilt. If these folks seem loving and are trying to recruit you its because 1. they are afraid, of what? Dying at armagedon if they don't try to recruit you, afraid of the elders coming and asking them why they aren't getting enough hours trying to recruit, afraid of being embarrassed for not trying to recruit at every opportunity and being shamed for it. Obligated to meet certain hour recruitment requirements, if you are a grown man and you don't get enough hours to have basic privileges at the Kingdom hall like passing the mice etc, its embarrassing, obviously there must be something wrong with you, and guilt. This is just more of the same, that keeps the recruitment wheels turning. about 98% of JW's do not enjoy doing this, but they have a competitive pride that will make them post on IG themselves wasting their morning in the freezing temperature doing "early morning recruiting" (worthless but racks up the hours and makes you look good), or standing by a cart in the blistering sun. The guilt makes them feel like they need to show everyone what they do and that they are the best darn witness mind control can buy! -

Ever hear a run of the mill loyal follower give a comment and mention how some "might reason" (basically a practical logical thought that makes sense and is not intellectually dishonest) and as they are saying it afterwards they pause as if to say without say it "oh S%$t! that does make sense" then they end and go into the circle 2+2=5 explanation. But for a moment hearing themselves say it out loud clicks something in their brain until the cult part has time to reboot? Like: "some might say god was unjust in doing x y & z.... *pause*... thinking... rebooting, but wait no he wasn't actually he is actually more loving because I've been told so..." kills me -

They didn't respond clearly because that is a trick. fading like a lot of us are these days kind of allows you to back away from it. You still aren't out. But greatly reduced your involvement or completely left it all together. But on the books you are a jw. Now if you tell them you are leaving. Or commit what they consider a disfellowshipping offense (Such as reading anything on this site or talking to someone disfellowshipped) disfellowshipped or disassociated are what you speak of and yes. You are out and shunned by family and closest friends, treated as if you died and don't exist. You will be avoided like to he plague. Amish style. More people are smarter now and more comfortable with the fade. Years ago probably most would have just disassociated themselves. I'd love to. But love some of my family and don't want to break my moms heart. So they twisted it. Ask the same question to them but instead of leave say dissfellowshipped then they have to answer truthfully . us faders live two lives in a loop hole so we never really get to leave like hotel California -

You mean you posted to this site DURING the meeting and didn't burst into flames???
I can't remember the last time I commented. I remember one hall I was in that was one thing they held over my head for reaching out, I didn't comment ENOUGH. and They wouldn't use me for any mic etc unless I was getting over the national average for field service. Even thought none of the elder or MS did, they did their time to get there then didn't do $hit. bunch of hypocrites.

In the beginning there was simon...
I just wanted to look for hilarious stories from bethel or about crazy watchtower comments, then I thought how it felt good to see some people going through things the same way I did, and maybe I could benefit from them, and also somehow maybe say something that would touch someone, make them laugh, or just help them in anyway. And i was compelled not so long ago to sign up and post.

Thinking about thinking and upbringing
by ballistic ini was thinking about being "brought up in the truth" as opposed to joining.. as a child's brain develops, it builds connections based on what it is taught.
these connections are inseparable from the person in that our thoughts and memories actually become part of our personality (who we are).. a very simple example, might be being taught *not to do something* because it "displeases jehovah".
the understanding of right and wrong is then set in the child's mind and built upon.. there are several points of thought i have about this fact.

Morality should only be rooted in what harms others, religion (the three biggies from the Mideast) and the bible have made morals into something they were never intended to be. They call oxytocin many things, the love chemical etc, but one thing it is is the morality chemical. morality is a social thing that has dare i say evolved in us to make a stronger society by basically making us feel empathy for our community. This basic idea tells you not to steal or murder. All the other nonsense was man made to control and separate people. We may think of things like homosexuality or what have you as moral issues, but so was eating shellfish or pork when slavery was ok. The bible doesn't teach morals, it merely conditions follower on the backs of some good natural morals we have such as love your neighbor, don't murder and so on. There are prairie dogs of two different species, one has a brain partitioned differently than the other species. One has this community hormone going on and one doesn't. The one group they prairie dogs happen to be monogamous, why does one have it and not the other? who knows. But as humans with the bonding empathy hormone we are capable of great morality without a single rule from any book. There is a great TedTalk on oxytocin. "I had shown in the early 2000s that countries with a higher proportion of trustworthy people are more prosperous. So in these countries, more economic transactions occur and more wealth is created, alleviating poverty. So poor countries are by and large low trust countries. So if I understood the chemistry of trustworthiness, I might help alleviate poverty"...

Why are JW talks & publications never uplifting?
by thedepressedsoul ini was sitting at the meeting the other night and for the first time it hit, jw talks or magazines are never uplifting!
i rarely, if ever hear a talk or read a magazines and have it give nothing but praise to jehovahs servants or just praise jehovah and jesus throughout it.
they never just a read through the bible or just a bible story explained or told.

Salvationists creed, you are wonderful, but a worthless sinner in need of redemption you can't get on your own. One of the oldest snake oil sales since the last ice age

Interesting statement made by CO. Is this new?
by stillin inin his first talk of the week the co mentioned that people don't get df'd for joining the military or registering to vote because they are already gone, as compared with smoking secretly, which would merit df'ing.. i have been toying around with registering to vote in the next election (us) so this intrigues me..

Register to vote is ok Some states turning 18 it's part of something that happens. You are registered. Or eligible to vote if you chose and the same with turning 18 and turning in your military registration that says you can be drafted. Neither of these things constitute voting or joining the military. That action of being drafted or joining freely or voting will get you 86'd
